| On the subject of boob sliders: If we're talking otherwise pre - made ladies with only the boobs as an adjustable, then fair enough that's clearly a deliberately pervy, male - focused bit of silliness that I'm glad to see the back of*. If, on the other hand, we're talking about comprehensive character creation which has had that specific aspect removed, I think that's incredibly unfair on women, or indeed men, who are interested in creating a character with a body they feel represents them and makes them feel comfortable.
*because I'm more of an ass man.

| If it runs the risk of being abused for naughtiness, Nintendo don't like it. It's a sad attitude for the company to have and I wish they'd change it; they could set such sliders to end at realistic levels, after all. |

| Athrun brought up marketing, well this is from NoA
Xenoblade Chronicles X is an RPG, a game for RPG and Xenoblade fans. We didn’t do anything too big because the audience for the game already know it exists and is already attentive of its release.”

| It's the biggest game they have over the Christmas period, in both senses of the word. This is ludicrous. |

| On the one hand it sort of makes sense. On the other hand this attitude is kinda sorta the entire reason the system itself failed.
Being a defeatist and not trying only ensures a loss.
On top of that I'm firmly conviced this game specifically could have made a splash with the masses, it has all the right elements to do so, such as not being overtly anime or foreign, having a lot of guns and sleek weaponry, and dealing with themes the west can get behind Attack on Titan style. This could have been Nintendo's "Final Fantasy 7" if I'm honest.
What kid wouldn't go nuts over being able to roam a giant awesome planet in a transformer?
Also the way this has been handled doesn't really make much sense if they were just going to appeal to the niche rpg crowd only. The censorship for example, stuff like that alienates the supposed target audience. It just doesn't make sense, a real head-scratcher.
I feel this is very indicative of Nintendo as a whole. They don't feel the need to advertise, they don't feel the need to expand, and so on. This has seen them go from the top dogs of the industry to the weakest selling system that hasn't been cancelled ever.
To put it bluntly and succinctly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLrpBLDWyCI
Ah well, game's still coming out soon, we'll just have to hope to compensate with word of mouth when it hits. |

| Just got off a Splatoon session and found the install packs are out now, so those wanting to get their fifteen gig loading assisting packs downloaded ahead of Friday, best get to it! |

| I should try and set that up, so that I can enjoy XCX over Christmas. Internet in my family's countryside cottage is shocking.
Will admit, that's one less star than I'd hoped for, but good nonetheless. |

| Yeah, as far as I remember each one speeds up the loading of a certain aspect of the game, the more you have the quicker you go. |

| Yep, the base pack affects everything, while the other three affect character, enemy, and skell models respectively. To avoid major pop-in and loading issues in NLA and play the game the way the trailers make it look all four are pretty much mandatory.
As an aside, don't expect me to be playing this on launch. Money issues mean I have to put stuff like this off. Not that it's a issue, between splatoon, smash, and wind waker I've got other things to play first before this takes over the system. |

| I'm downloaded ready to go, now to wait for XCX to turn up but when I get to the game is another question as even from about a hour Witcher III's quality shines through which will get played first. |

| So who has taken the plunge? Bit of a slow start last night (particularly with the lack of voice acting for the player) but I'm really enjoying the movement speed/running speed and I'm very happy to see a lot of Xeno's systems return. Finish up Chapter 3 last night just as I stopped and the game was just starting to open up a bit so I'm really excited to get stuck in tonight/this weekend! |

| Was going to give this a proper play yesterday but got distracted by PS2 classics.
But did pop into the Wii U late last night, I've not even finished the prologue but must be close as achievement 4/5 unlocked.
From the little I've played, I actually like it but not sure when I will go back to it though unless I play it before witcher 3. |

| My opinion of it has gone down quite a bit. There is no pacing, I'm wandering around constantly just hoping I'll be at the right level for the next story mission soon. It's a grind. Even the story missions don't feel rewarding or exciting, just extended go here - kill this missions. The normal side quest stuff tends to always boil down to - get this item and the collectipedia is useless. Every item is just listed by the region, not the area in that region it can be found, so you just wander around endlessly if you can't find where it is on google.
The story might as well not be there and the characters aren't fleshed out at all. Even the side missions with them (of which you can only have 1 active at a time and can't stop until you finish it) don't do much. It's just a grind.
This is the biggest disappointment ever compared the the master class that the first one was. It is a good game, but it's just the opposite of what made Xenoblade the best (or joint best with Chrono Trigger) JRPG of all time. |

| That's the biggest negative, I've seen in reviews as well about the story.
And even from the prologue my character is void of character. |

| Aw guys. I'm not too fussed about those issues to be honest: XC's story wasn't exactly brilliant, and most JRPG stories are slow burners regardless. I've heard that the story pacing is a little funny, but I loved exploring XC's world, so if I get a bit lost it's not a huge deal. Also, Andy, did you say you loathed the XCX music?

| I loved the world and the characters in the original, the world in this feels kind of naff. I don't know the world like I knew the Bionis, I'm just running away constantly. Fighting rarely feels worth doing, even 30-40 hours in I'm still just running away from almost everything for fear of either instant death or boredom at them being 20 levels lower than me. I'm currently on Chapter 8 (well I'm grinding friendship to play it) and I'm not sold on the story, not much more time to grow on me.
The music is just bad. It feels too exciting at all times in the world despite the fact that you're not doing anything exciting, it's also mad repetitive. I've just turned the sound off, the voice acting does nothing as it's mostly one sided conversations due to the irritating silence of the avatar and that music is just crap.
I know that's a lot of complaints, but it is worth saying I am enjoying it, just it feels like they've gone more in the direction of an MMO than finely crafted experience. |

| Hmm. Jim Sterling absolutely loved the soundtrack, but then he loves hammed-up campy things. Maybe I'll prefer it more than you did (like I do all music ever ): one was just wandering about Gaur for the most part, after all. Still think XC's story was a bit crap, apart from Fiora's early death. That ending scene in particular. I'm really not looking forward to the voice acting though - such a shame they removed the Japanese option this time. |

| I'll take Black tar with its mad fire lyrics over the tripe that made up the second half of the first games battle themes any day!
I haven't played the game, but speaking as someone whose listened to both 4 disc ost's multiple times I'll say I think this one was better. It totally reflects the world they wanted to create (going by promotional material), and it's extremely bold compared to the first games which was strictly by the books. The real problem is from what I've heard, like the first game, some of it has been badly used in the actual game, with some cases of serious dissonance in what's happening on screen compared to what the music would have you believe is happening.
This games soundtrack though was always going to be a love or hate one, no middle ground. |

| It's sold fairly well in the UK which may please you Athrun, it's up 73% compared to XC on it's launch and is Number 3 on Wii U chart and 28th on all-format and 34th on individual. |
