| It's a odd one as like you say we don't know what the concept is and it could be the fabled hybrid which yeah the specs don't matter as much as you know it's going to be less powerful due to being having to be taken around with ya.
If the NX is just a black box which plays games, which I doubt as it's Nintendo but let's say it is that's when I would worry, I do think either case unless they have a mad concept that appeals to a broad audience which a hybrid might do as look as those 3DS Salezzz numbers. The people buying a NX will be Nintendo fans, and I said it on Pod of War when we talked Zelda and the guy in the video, I'm a bit burnt on Nintendo especially from a home console stand point and I don't know after the NX if it's just a Wii U 2.0 and has a concept which isn't really utilized, lack of top quality games that I would get the next system after the NX.
It very well could be Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. |

| What does worry me is detailed in the last half of this Nintendo Life piece. Namely, UbiSoft came out and said "Just Dance '17 coming to NX!"... but didn't announce that any of their other games are. And neither did anyone else.
I don't particularly care about UbiSoft's output, BG&E and the odd Rayman game aside; but I don't want yet another Nintendo console that lags behind in the third-party stakes. If the NX is comparably beefy with the BBoPs, and the architecture is third-party-games compatible, surely they should be getting ports of most of the multiplats? |

| But will it be that's the question, in till we see the NX we don't know but the Just Dance 2017 thing is interesting as it was said it's coming to all motion control based consoles, which means the NX has motion controls of some sort or works with the smartphone app thing that the PS4ONE use along with the camera options.
That does make me worry that were still using Wiimotes for some things and could mean the NX is backwards compatible but why could will be using something that will have came out 10 years, 3 months, 23 days ago if the NX comes out March 31st.
The other problem with 3rd Party Balla is, they don't really sale and will someone that buys a NX if they already have a Xbox One, PS4, PC stop buying third party on those and start buying them on NX instead. It's a catch 22 situation as the NX will need 3rd party to expand the library and Nintendo can go come here we've got COD, FIFA etc you like along with Zelda & Mario but we need to buy them for them to come.
I don't want to seem to be a negative nancy but take a different view on it, which may stir up some conversation on the NX. |

| This is a bit more encouraging. Moffit's a fair way off Kimishima, of course ("Nintendo of America's executive vice-president of sales"), and this is definitely talking rather than walking; but he is saying all the right things, especially where third parties are concerned.
I hope, somewhat against hope it must be said, that he's echoing the decision makers rather than what he knows the gaming public want to hear. |

| It sounds very PR, also interesting what he says about the Wii U as Kimishima etc have been saying the Wii U and NX will sit side by side but Moffit basically is saying NX is replacing the Wii U like we all know. |

| The biggest gaming site in France, have reported on the NX. I can't read French but from what I'm hearing it says the NX should have come out this year but a few factors has caused a delay to 2017. We've heard that before about VR being added from a Chinese . source and that pushed the system into 2017. Also from this site the NX will be shown maybe at TGS in September. |

| 'Fortunately', one of the admin team can read French and there's some serious stuff in here. - Spoiler:
There's a paragraph that says it'll be as powerful as a Neo and another which says it'll run Android (?!), Miitomo could be the console's hub (?!?) and you can connect eight controllers to it (?!?!). The delay is also partly attributed to third parties as their games weren't ready.

| SILLY SEASON!NLife covered the points in Blighty-speak. It's things like mentioning Android that make me think this is more ridiculous-ness; and while Neo-power would be great, do we even know how powerful the Neo is yet? Also Reggie said something at E3 about how specs aren't important, so, yeah. SILLY SEASON!!!! |

| The Android rumor has been going around since before the NX was even called the NX. I think some of it might be fairly on point and some of it totally off. |

SILLY SEASON!!!! *SILLY SEASON 2 ----- Also I really don't think Nintendo would delay a system just to add a new feature like VR or anything else for example & as Balla mentioned Reggie stressed content over specs so if anything that's the reason for the 2017 launch. |

| I've guess you all seen the patent for Zelda: BotW which has disc and cartridge listed, a Gaf user has sone some research and looked at like every Wii U game and the only ones that have cartridge listed our ones also on 3DS.
I don't know if this tells us anything but if you read a few posts back Zero (I think), posted about a cartridge rumor for the NX also this ties in to the system being a hybrid or the OS route. |

I'm interested, but I want to see more from Ninty themselves before dropping my final judgement on the NX.
If Eurogamer are bang on the money, then I'm a bit worried. Power is something Nintendo shouldn't just forgo, and if this is meant to replace both the Wii U and the 3DS, then I was hoping to see a considerable step up in graphical oomph from what the Wii U can put out. Cartridges are a bit puzzling to me as well, but I've got a decent broadband connection so if I'm going to need to download a 20GB additional file to play a game, it won't be the end of the world.
As I said though, I'm waiting for the inevitable NX Direct.

| The first Wii U Dev units were less powerful than the retail SKU, so it might come close to Xbox One but as a friend of GNamer called Chris said don't look at it as a weak console but a powerful handheld.

If that's the case, then are Nintendo abandoning the home console market? It seems like a push towards that.
By the by, I think tagging spoilers should be in action for any chat about the NX rumour mill. I know some folks want to avoid hearing anything, so I think spoiler boxes should be at the ready! |

I think, the GNamercast could be interesting as I'll have to have my mouth closed, if we talk NX rumors. |

| - NX rumour chat:
Let's assume all this is correct, I have a number of concerns:
- Battery Life. The WiiU gamepad boasts a total battery life of not very long. The WiiU gamepad isn't much more than a controller with a screen attached - processing etc. all happens in the magic black box. My worry is that if you make a powerful handheld, with a good sized screen (at least the size of the gamepad screen, definitely a higher res too.) it just won't last the 5 hours that I've decided I want from it as a bare minimum.
- It's not a DS, and it doesn't have a unique and innovative clam-shell design. It is therefore doomed to fail.
- Power. I wanted a beefy home console, but it sounds like I'm getting a tin of SPAM. One thing that would redeem it in this respect would be the docking station's ability to add a ton of oomph to the system for the tv display although having re-read the bit about the docking station this doesn't seem to be the case.
There are a few things that I don't mind so much:
- If you just treat it as a handheld that happens to do tv play as well then it doesn't seem so bad.
- Nintendo Handhelds usually do pretty well.
- My 3ds will be over 5 years old when NX comes out, probably time for a new toy.
- Hopefully won't be too expensive, so should compete pretty well with the other two. Assuming it's actually in competition with the other two, it isn't a true home console after all.
In summary: Personally I think the better move would be a dedicated home console, but I can see why this hybrid idea might have appeal. Assuming it gets past any battery issues without sacrificing the looks of the game and size of the screen and can display on the big screen effectively then I can actually see it doing really well. It just feels like a big assumption, is all.

You would imagine the console charges whilst docked and battery life would only be a issue whilst on the go, the VITA has 6hrs and New 3DS is about 5hrs all depending on settings. So I don't see this as a issue.
- It's not a DS, and it doesn't have a unique and innovative clam-shell design. It is therefore doomed to fail. 2DS has sold fairly well and so did the GBA etc before the DS.

Sorry mate but Nintendo is doing what Nintendo does and that's do something different
There are a few things that I don't mind so much:
- If you just treat it as a handheld that happens to do tv play as well then it doesn't seem so bad. Correct
- Nintendo Handhelds usually do pretty well. Correct they've all done better then there console counter parts
- My 3ds will be over 5 years old when NX comes out, probably time for a new toy. Yeah the 3DS line is 6 years old in March and Wii U just over 4 1/2 years old as well.
- Hopefully won't be too expensive, so should compete pretty well with the other two. Assuming it's actually in competition with the other two, it isn't a true home console after all.
The portable Nvidia Shield is £185 and runs X1 and is using Android, the NX is custom OS along with unique feature like taking it apart along with it more likely to be X2 powered then X1 powering it, I'm going it's rather expensive possibly £300
DF on everything about the NX talking power etc |

- Pretty much what Ducky said:
I want the home console experience from a home console. That, to some extent, does mean power.
Yeah yeah power isn't the be-all and end-all of everything, and I couldn't care less about how many of a generic CoD marine's bawhairs are lovingly rendered in 1080p/4K. But I want huge open worlds, like in BotW, XCX, or any number of BBoP games. I want huge amounts of enemies on-screen. I want enormous castles stretching to the sky. Stuff like that.
I'm very sceptical as to how well a handheld is going to be able to deliver those. And any extra power that a docking station is going to be able to deliver? Well you'd have thought it'd go into the graphics, which as I've said above I couldn't give two farts about. Maybe beefing up the soundtrack. You can't have an open world at home and a less open world on the train. Can you?
I think the two Smash Bros. games are the best example we have of how a home console game can be hamstrung by trying to fit it onto a handheld as well. Sakurai has outright stated that things had to be cut from characters as a result of the two-platform development: the Ice Climbers, in-game transformations, etc. Now imagine that applied to other home console games. What you are imagining, by the way, is tripe.
I feel that the "pro-hybrid" crowd are those who can enjoy their big open experiences on other consoles. Yourself, and Drunka. I could theoretically do the same, but I want Nintendo and Nintendo-like developers to be able to wield this power. Imagine the sort of massive worlds they could craft: the intricately detailed Mario levels, the haunting crashed frigates, the lush Kong-filled jungles. Instead they've hamstrung themselves by going for innovation over sense, just like the Wii U. And I was pro the Gamepad and the Wiimote, remember. I like innovation. But right now, I'd rather see Nintendo make the best home console they can for a generation, and then go back to their innovating ways once they've got something truly great to bring us.
Bottom line is, if they somehow come out with a handheld that, without sacrificing on battery life, could potentially deliver BBoP-like experiences, fair play to them. That would be incredible. And I mean just that: I wouldn't believe it. Otherwise I hope this is another false report, and that, as I have said before in this very thread, Nintendo deliver us the Nintendo Beefy.
(I also have a slight concern about cartridges, mostly because I'd rather have an NX that gets third parties back on board. I have no idea how easy it would be to convert from cart to disc.)

| - Spoiler:
But hasn't Nintendo & Platinum showed with BotW & Bayo 2 what they can do with hardware and the Tegra X1 is more powerful then the Wii U, that the NX will likely be a rather powerful hybrid.
I'm not pro-hybrid but it's just made so much sense on so many fronts and the Nintendo Beefy would be great but that would surely mean competing with PS4's and XBONE's which Nintendo don't want to seem to do and would that sale as well where for handhelds they have pretty much zero competition part from mobile which is huge yes but Nintendo will be bringing both their audiences together under one roof and you got to think proper Pokemon on a TV screen for instance will be a big deal.
I wish I could say what I know but I took it in good faith and you juts have to read this rumors
