| The only one of the new additions I've played is Lego Star Wars but that has to go in, surely? Look at all the Lego games since! Plus the hours I spent playing with my brother meant a lot. |

| Thoughts:
Wii Sports - Yes. LoZTP - Yes. SMG1 - Yes. SMG2 - Yes. Xenoblade Chronicles - Yes. Okami - Abstain. The Last Story - Abstain. LoZSS - Abstain. No More Heroes - Abstain. Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition - Yes. Kirby Epic Yarn - No. Good game but not a classic. LKS - No. Donkey Kong Country Returns - Tough one, but I'm gonna say 'Yes' as it breathed life in to the Donkey Kong series after a bunch of gimmick-driven titles. Rayman Origins - Yes. One of my favourites of this generation. Sonic Colours - Abstain. MKWii - No. Least favourite Mario Kart, but it was a huge seller. SSBB - No. COME AT ME BRO Strikers Charged - No. Super Paper Mario - No. Feel the Gamecube entry is the classic. Wii Fit - Yes. It was a system seller, despite not really being a game. WWSM - No. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn - Good game but No. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption - Abstain. Red Steel - Abstain. Red Steel 2 - Abstain. MHTri - Abstain. Mario & Sonic at the Olympics - No. Ghost Squad - Abstain. Excite Truck - Abstain. Wii Sports Resort - Yes. New Play Control Pikmin - Yes. If Resi 4 Wii goes in this and the sequel have to, as they improved the controls on an already classic game. NPC Pikmin 2 - Yes. Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise - No. Trauma Centre: Second Opinion - This game should be illegal. No. NBA Jam - Abstain. Punch Out!! - Abstain. DJ Hero - Abstain. House of the Dead: Overkill - Abstain Zack & Wiki - I liked it, but... no. Madworld - No. Cave Story - Abstain. Any LEGO game - No. Tomb Raider - Abstain.
I'll suggest: New Super Mario Bros. Wii Boom Blox Bash Party |

| (comes at GJones) Why no love for Brawl? Granted, it slowed right down after Mêlée, but as Jay said, it had the best single-player of the series. NSMBWii was really pretty rubbish after the passable (but still non-classic in my opinion) NSMB. It took until NSMBU for the series to get good again. Also, NPC Pikmin being on the verge of getting in, when it's a straight lift bar the controls... |

Also, NPC Pikmin being on the verge of getting in, when it's a straight lift bar the controls... I wasn't a fan of the single-player shenanigans, it was all a bit Super Monkey Ball 2 with the cut-scenes. Also, saying it had the best single-player of the series means nothing, as Smash Bros. is a series akin to Mario Kart in that its gameplay, accessibility and multiplayer is the selling point, and not a story mode whacked in to try and tie the fights together. As for NSMBWii, I didn't like it myself but know that nearly every person who had a Wii, they more than likely had a copy of it. I'm one of those who found Rayman Origins to be superior in every department, but there's no denying it's one of the big Wii titles. It deserves a mention. |

Really? I mean, I know it was designed for the Cube and all, but I'd associate Twilight Princess with the Wii more than the Cube. It was a launch title, so I think more folks ended up with it on Wii than on Cube. |

I'm one of those who found Rayman Origins to be superior in every department, but there's no denying it's one of the big Wii titles. It deserves a mention. Beating up Rayquaza or watching Captain Falcon slice through Pikmin was better than anything SMB2's story mode had to offer! And a single-player mode still means a substantial amount to those who don't always have friends around or want to play online, which I'd think includes... everyone? And a classic has to be good though, surely? (Heeeeeere comes the subjectivity again.) I agree with Jay on LoZTP. It's a better 'Cube game, of that there can be almost no doubt; but most people's memories of it will be of flailing the Wiimote about around Christmastime to slash up Bokoblins. I downvoted it in the GC vote, even though it's the best form of one of my top five games of all time. |

| Sin & Punishment 2 ARGH (I hate it; the most frustrating game I played on the Wii, bar none (even Beat The Beat and Mario Strikers Charged were 'easier')... but I recognise that it is quality, and unique, so... ARGH)

| NSMBWii Yes! The singleplayer wasn't as tight as the original or Wii U, but this was the first of Nintendo's forays into multiplayer Mario and for all its failings was stupendously fun and something I'll always remember. Disaster: Day of Crisis Sigh... sorry, but much as I really enjoyed this, not even I can say it belongs on a classic games list. No. Endless Ocean Yes. Nothing else like it, really well made, console exclusive. |

| And that's that, as far as I'm concerned. The Wii has 26 classics, and I'm left with only the current gen. Nintendo consoles (and nonsense like the Virtual Boy) left to cover. But in keeping with my consideration of a classic as a memorable game, I feel that it's too early to cast votes on the Wii U and 3DS. Heck, it's arguably too early to cast votes on the DS and Wii. My last gasp in this thread is going to be this: a list of games that I think may be considered classics on the Wii U in future. Not all I've played, not all I've enjoyed, and some I think will be remembered more fondly than they're considered now - but with all the Wii U negativity that's been hovering around, I don't think there's anything wrong with considering some of the good stuff the console has had. - Wii U classics?:
Super Mario 3D World (I'd disagree with this one, but I'm pretty sure I'd be overruled) Super Mario Maker Mario Kart 8 Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (borderline, but its prequel got in, and I reckon its phenomenal soundtrack might push it over the edge) The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD (I suspect that my "it's a port" complaints would be ignored by most) Hyrule Warriors Pikmin 3 Splatoon Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Nintendo Land (yeah, I reckon this'll be remembered a lot more favourably than it's viewed now) Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Rayman Legends ZombiU Bayonetta (see comment on WWHD) Bayonetta 2 Lego City Undercover (Cappa loves this - anyone else?) Shovel Knight Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition Affordable Space Adventures Runbow (touch and go - I reckon the odd GNamer Runbow Night online would swing it to Y)
20 classics?
With potentially three more classic games to come, that's not such a bad haul as it's been claimed! Now, onto the other formats stuff - I believe Mas had some ideas.

| 26 classics for the Wii is a decent amount.
Yes I do have a idea which take us up to early November just before the Wii U 3rd birthday vote.
I'm currently at EGX, but if there no objections it will start tomorrow but as some of you might of wanted to run a week and if so while sort something but might plan takes away any arguments of I played on X system and even likes of Balla should be able to take part in week 1 & 2.

| You know what Balla? You're right. I think I'd yes all of those WiiU games as classics.
Except Hyrule Warriors. That game can go in the lava. (And I'd also try and nominate Knytt Underground and Affordable Space Adventures) |

| Fun thread, Balls man. Cheers! - yes to all these Wii U classics:
Super Mario 3D World YES! Smashing stuff, and a whole new level of fun in multiplayer. Super Mario Maker Mario Kart 8 Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (borderline, but its prequel got in, and I reckon its phenomenal soundtrack might push it over the edge) The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD more than a port! Hyrule Warriors Pikmin 3 Splatoon Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Nintendo Land (yeah, I reckon this'll be remembered a lot more favourably than it's viewed now) Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Rayman Legends ZombiU Bayonetta a lot more than a port. Even removing the Nintendo isms, the definitive version. Bayonetta 2 Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition
And the rest are only abstains! - gjones wrote:

I think masofdas was keen. Maybe he could do the SEGA's, someone else the Sony and so on? |

| Cheers Drunka! (Edited in the second spoiler tag for you.) It was fun. Mas' idea is a bit different to what I've been doing. Mas, I think you ought to explain exactly what you're up to - give time for feedback before re-launching. (It doesn't matter if it adds another week, I got the timing wrong for my Wii U vote in any case.) |
