Third Annual GNamer Forum Awards, 2015 Edition!

Hello and welcome! A slightly earlier than normal start, perhaps, but I'm going out of the county for New Year, so here we are!

As last year, the results will start on the 19th. (Edit: Ha ha ha ha ha ) I've altered the gaming categories slightly; please read on!

Awards are one vote apiece unless otherwise stipulated:

Forumite of the Year (Two votes, equally weighted)
Contributor of the Year (Vote for the person has tirelessly kept the quality topics/posts coming throughout the year)
Funniest Forumite
New Forumite of the Year (People who joined in 2015 only)
Most-Missed Forumite (They don't have to have posted this year but they must have a non-zero postcount overall)

Board of the Year (GNamer Community; Off Topic, etc.)
Topic/Post of the Year (Regular topics, not special ones (see below))
GNamer Forum Event of the Year (This covers special events like Admintendo episodes, forum-created podcasts, Secret Santa, real-life meets, and voting threads)

Avatar of the Year (Could be new, could be old... it matters not)
Signature of the Year

Tagline of the Year (Three votes. See all previous taglines in the original post of the tagline thread, after the cut-off in January.  This year's cut-off will be the actual change of year, which includes everything under the '2015' spoiler tag in the currently stickied tagline thread (so up to 'Rudolph The Red Nosed Reyndeer').)

Gaming Awards

Wii U Game of the Year (Three votes, in order of preference! First gets 3 points, second 2, third 1. Must have been released in your territory in the calendar year 2015 on Wii U. VC games excluded.)
3DS Game of the Year (Three votes, in order of preference. As above.)
Nontendo Exclusive Game of the Year (Three votes as above. Game must be exclusive to one non-Nintendo system.)
Multiplatform Game of the Year (Three votes as above. Can be a game that you've played on a Nintendo system, as long as it was released on something else too.)

Inclusions and Exclusions:

Honourable/Dishonourable Mentions (No votes, but any other comments you might have about games or gaming-related services/products this year. They'll all be published anonymously!)

Hooray, it's this thing again! Always a delight.

I'm going to propose a radical suggestion: scotching the Alternate Account award. They were brilliant in 2013, took a back seat in 2014, and I think they made about 5 posts amongst them in 2015. It doesn't seem right. (Of course, people can vote for Reggie as most-missed forumite if they so wish!)

On the other hand, we've got a choice of several great newbies to vote for this time around!

I'll better start having a think, also nice to see more stuff in the game awards section as I remember last year something (maybe shovel knight) missed out but now with more things, some other games might get there time to shine.

Yay! These are always fun. Agreed with balls man on the alt account front. In its place, perhaps a vote for best piece on Gintendo?

That is partially due to the fact that Monty may have misplaced his login details and couldn't be bothered going through password recovery. Or so I've heard. Ahem.

But yeah, in agreement with this! It'd be a bit of a struggle voting for this category - maybe you've got an idea for a suitable replacement, Zero? Your call, as votemaster! Something Gintendo/Podcast related maybe? Or maybe something more forum-centric to replace the forum-centric category?

Hyped for this though. I missed a fair chunk of the latter half of 2014, so definitely looking forward to getting stuck into this vote here.

The Nintendo games are going to be a bugger though, as I didn't buy Splatoon and didn't enjoy SMM. Don't suppose we're allowed to use the MK8 and SSBU DLCs, are we...?

Surely you'll just vote XCX, Kirby and something else Balla like Yoshi for instance.

I found 3DS hard as I played hardly anything on it and not much came out for it either.

So when's the cut off point for this vote?

As for a replacement for Best Alt Account, I am open to suggestions... at the moment my idea is Funniest Forum Post. Thoughts?

I'd argue (and already have to Zero!) that there doesn't need to be a replacement. There are lots of awards, including an additional one under the gaming column: they could probably do with being slimmed down.

That said, no objection to a Funniest Forumite Post! I wouldn't want a Gintendo based award - that's definitely its own thing nowadays. May as well have a "Best GNamer Poster on SONM Award" (which O_R would sweep).

That's fair. It is still exclusively GNAMER alumni writing there and there's no where else to do such a vote, but if people would prefer to keep it separate that's fine.

I think it could have its own separate awards thread, if that's what the people want!

But it would only be one award the best thing on Gintendo in 2015 and Drunka is right it's only GNAMER alumni writing there & got to think of the 30views a month (according to the INTERNET) is likely from GNAMER alumni as well.

Also Game Based Awards slimmed down you mad Balla, I would of said it need more especially after last year and Shovel Knight and you bringing up DLC.

But hey it's Zero doing it this year and it's his awards, if Stu is back next and wants to do it a different again that's great.  

I have sent my votes but if there is any new awards added, I can easily send over the win for that.

Disagree with this. I've always seen the forum awards as being about us and how great we all are as opposed to the games we love chatting about.

As for Funniest Forumite Post, that's a belter of a category. Up for that!

My post was misinterpreted anyway (the slimming down referred to the awards as a whole), but I agree with Jay. When I introduced the games awards, they were definitely not meant to be the main event or anywhere close.

Certainly not, it was just a thought.

OK, some decisions, which will soon be reflected in the text of the top post.

1) No DLC in any of the game votes - no Mario Kart 8 by the back door, no Plague Of Shadows, nothing of that kind. A game that was released in 2015 and enhanced by DLC in that same year counts fine.

2) No new category to replace the Alt Account one.

If there are any further questions or things that need to be clarified, please don't hesitate to ask.

I'm in the process of writing mine up and I have a query; we've got nontendo and multiplatform GOTY votes. Does this mean the Nontendo ones have to be games that were exclusive to one of the other BBBoPs? Or is the multiformat one all games, including Nintendo?

I've tentatively launched the first half of my results; there's every chance I'll go back and eddit/ add comments yet, plus I still have my games to do. Nonetheless, this should help you with your algorithms for the time being.

In my vote I sent, the Nontendo Award I went for exclusives as that how I took it and for Multiformat went for games on anything like LEGO Jurassic Park for instance.

Yes to both queries! Multiformat games can be on Nintendo systems, as long as they've also been on something else.
