Erm... agree to disagree? Zero said it elsewhere, that most of the transformations actually slow things down. While I don't think that's a bad thing, I still prefer the more fast-paced power-ups in general, like the Ice Flower. And while the transformation you mention is great, it's still not as freeing a form of three-dimensional transport as the Wing Cap. Even if that use you mention is better than anything the cap is used for, it can't compete in terms of pure movement.
Yeah I get that it's just a personal preference thing at the end of the day & I just love how different these are plus the game would be less magical without them in my book, on the movement thing I don't mind it slowing things down either as it adds to exploration part of the game & makes Mario's move set itself more satisfying to use. I've also seen and collected certain moons or purple coins with that normal Mario movement where the proper solution was meant to use a transformation. BEST GAME! |

| Ploughed a bit more into the SMO post-game this morning. Got to the 250 Moon mark and offed a boss that I'd left behind in one of the Kingdoms. Still not thoroughly grabbed by the game and not bothered about collecting more Moons (though I am keen on getting hold of more outfits) but I thought it deserved more time before I dove into LA Noire. |

| Bravely Second confirmed GNamer's top turn-based JRPG for right-thinking people. - The_Jaster wrote:

I absolutely agree with everything you've said in that post, just not the conclusion it's led you to. I still think there's room for a game where power-ups provide the fun, and even the magic. Having said that, we'll get Super Mario 3D County with the Fire Flower and a new animal hat, and that'll be massively less magical. I do think it's going to be tough for whatever Mario game comes next to top this, in my eyes anyway. Unless they release some DLC, or Odyssey 2. |

| Fear not, sir - it took me five minutes of looking at the list of UK counties on Wikipedia to come up with my bout of nonsense. I wonder how much mileage we could get from using US counties too... |

| Spoilers for the ending, but this is hilarious. Especially if you've been foolish enough to e.g. look at YouTube comments about the game... |

| How'd this fall so far down the page? Anyway I've mucked about with the postgame enough now, and am on my 100%-ing mission. Got all the purple coins in two different kingdoms, which I'm chuffed about. And I found that thing in the postgame which I hadn't found before, and I've 100%-ed that too. Anyone else on target for all the moons? |

Anyone else on target for all the moons? What thing are you on about? And yes! I've been rattling through the kingdoms. I took a break from Tostarena and New Donk after making a sizeable dent in their moon population and I've went and mopped up some of the smaller kingdoms. I'm now over 500 moons! - Post 500 Moons Spoiler Chat:
I've realised this game has a Grandmaster Galaxy style level now. I think I want that to be the last moon I get. A fitting end.

Yoshi! On top of the castle, as is fitting (but again, arguably a bit too on the (enormous) nose with the nostalgia). And I've eaten all his fruit too. Yay collectables!
Good stuff sir! I'm currently cleaning up Tostarena myself, and proving singularly unable to fly a Bullet Bill in a circle. I'm on 320 odd. - Postgame lesser spoiler:
Although I haven't released the moon rocks yet... I'm going to get all of the normal moons first, then go back for those!

I've totally done that everywhere I've been so far. Having more Moons lying around reduces the chances of going for long stretches without finding one... whilst paradoxically increasing the chances of getting a Moon for doing next to nothing. Still one of my biggest criticisms of the game.

Ah, yeah! I liked that. I'll admit I tried to jump on his back at first because that felt more natural than becoming Yoshi through Cappy! It was a nice bit of fruit nabbing though. Did you find the bonus area with even more fruit nabbing antics?

| I did! Good fun, so it was. I wish that thing was more used, but that's the way of Mario games these days, isn't it? Give you an idea for two big collectibles, then whisk it away, never to be seen again. - ZeroJones wrote:

It remains my biggest criticism of the game. But it is a small drop of urine in a lake of excellence, and I'd still drink the water. |

| Today's shameful admission: I used a guide to find the last three purple doritos. Otherwise I could have spent ages on them! Also making copious use of Talkatoo, although in my mind that's no worse than SM64's star names. Now back to the Forest Kingdom... and I'm still bricking it at the thought of getting back to That Area. If you've been there, you know the one. |

| Not just me then! As someone who doesn't own Bowser in plastic form, I've had to do it the slightly newer old-fashioned way. (I kind of miss DGG+s...)
TAKE THAT YOU TERRIFYING AREA now onto the rest of it. |

| I've been dipping in and out of this, but my aim is to 100% this before the New Year comes in. I've got most of December off, so I'm thinking this will be very doable. |

| I'm going to take a break after November, to try and whizz through Samus Returns. I think it'll be grand to sit down with the family and play. |

| Finished the true last level last night and it's a very fitting finale and the perfect way to cap it off. Gonna put it to one side for now and return later for the rest of the moons with my current count being at 726.
It hasn't has the benefit of multiple playthroughs for me to call it the best Mario yet but I can see it earning that title when I revisit it.

Not even managed to hit 100 on that one yet it was...... - Post game spoilers:
a certain retro bit in the mushroom kingdom with the scrolling backgrounds and bullet bills, took me lots of attempts just to get the first moon then many many more to get the second. Tough but really well designed.
