I got like 250 odd on that mini-game. I entered a zen-like state of mind where my mind was empty and all I was focused on was rhythmically tapping the jump button. Once I started thinking too much about what I was doing, I ended up messing up. I recommend some meditation before trying - maybe you should visit a monk atop a mountain, clear you mind, forget about your worldly concerns. All that exists is the rope. Nothing more.

I did it before the final boss to get it out of the way!  And used 'easy mode' on the volleyball one.  I got up to 51 playing normally, so reckon I would have done it eventually, but I might have thrown a joycon through the telly first.

Related: I think I've decided that Bubblaine is my least favourite kingdom. Love the premise, but water kingdoms just don't do it for me, and the stuff underwater is horrid.

Yeah I'm looking forward to it as well, when I've been in skype calls with the drunken one and some general GoTY chat has popped up it's been tough to not go into any depth on SMO.

I held it in my hands today when I put all the presents under the tree. Finally, something good to play on Switch instead of more bloody Monster Hunter! It has been my never-failing dream.

As I've been working some crazy hours, and I didn't start playing on Christmas day until everyone else went to bed, I've not played anywhere near as much as I'd have liked. I'm on around 70 moons and I've just unlocked my fifth kingdom (though I've only put in the briefest of appearances at the opening one and the prehistoric one).

I've been avoiding most of the thread still, but I'll say this: So far this is everything I dreamed it would be and more.

Did you spend ages in the Sand Kingdom, Drunka? That was the first kingdom that I properly sunk my teeth into.

Yep, ran around for ages getting moons and coins, unlocking all the outfits and so on.

I'm thinking I might have enjoyed SMO even more had I done that first up, rather than leaving it until later on.

I haven't quite 100%ed any kingdoms yet, but I have ran around and done as much as I can see with just running around in each one I've found.

Then I found that bloody Jump Rope game. Took me a while to figure how to even play, I assumed I'd have to talk to someone, but I managed to stumble in and get a score of like 4. I took a little peak at the scoreboard, saw people like Mas hovering at 6, saw the dude saying "I wonder if you can get 30" and thought ah yes, that'll be the moon then. Got my 30, took another look at the scoreboard . . .

So that's gonna take up an obscene amount of my precious limited time on this Earth, then.

Yeah I had the same approach to staying in a Kingdom until I had done all I could, I only later changed that when I fancied progressing the story. I should get back to the post game stuff now but there's other games that need playing too.

That is a brilliant stretch of game though.  SMO mixes linearity and exploration really well, allowing for set-pieces like all of that alongside the freedom lacking from the last five 3D Marios.

Easy just view them like DVDs / Blu Rays / UHDs and play the ones you want regardless of system.

I just like to play good games.

I'm confused. I don't have time for all the good Switch games I want to play.  Playing all the good games I want to play regardless of system would require fifty-hour days!
