| Where's the arctic roll option? Also yep I like Marina's design. Pearl... less so. |

| There are a lot of improvements, to be sure, and Marina and Pearl seem to be fine replacements for Callie and Marie (I did get fed up with seeing them at the start of every sesh, so I'm holding out hope the newbies don't follow suit). I did think that the Direct was talking to fans of the previous game more than people who needed persuading, but it was good fun nonetheless. |

| One thing I don't like at all, though: Salmon Run apparently being limited to certain times. That seems like a very Nintendo decision, in a bad way. |

It is odd but I think they've done that because you get exclusive gear from playing it so it's a balance thing so folk don't go & run riot in turf war because all they've played is Salmon run for X amount of time. This way everyone gets a fair crack at getting the gear at the same time & it doesn't split the player base between all the different modes. |

Agreed with that. I can understand cycling through different maps, but a whole mode being blocked off through time constraints is a bit sad. |

I'd rather be able to play Salmon Run for fun without getting gear though, if that's the reasoning. 'Friendlies' if you will. Also, what about those who can't make the time slots? I just think it's an indefensible idea all round as it's currently laid out. |

I'm getting this, but I'm not very hyped at all about it. I thought Splatoon was good, and that's about it. I enjoyed playing it, but it never really hooked me, or left me wanting more. I'm going in with expectations that Splatoon 2 will be better, but to be honest I'd sort of forgotten that it was coming out until a few days ago. I'm already looking towards what's next. I was going to watch that Direct presentation after work, but I couldn't muster the enthusiasm...I suppose that says a lot in itself about how eager I am to dive back into Splatoon. |

| Like I said it isn't ideal & there are probably other reasons for it but it just doesn't bother me as it does others, the time slots seemed like it lasted for a few days at least as well. |

| I've put my preorder in as well, although due to me losing my debit card like a muppet I don't know if it'll actually go through... Cost 50 squid and everything! |

| That's reminded me to put my preorder in as well, also might get a bit of flak for this but compared to Pearl & Marina those designs for Callie & Marie look really bland. |

| Second generation syndrome innit? They always have more features. That's why later rounds of Pokémon got compared unfavourably to Digimon, as opposed to being (e.g.) a red and white ball with eyes. Still not mad keen on Pearl's design though. |

| Aye that's true, I don't mind Pearl that much even if she does have a brat-ish face. ---- After reading the Nintendo life review I am so ready for this game, things like ARMS, Mighty Gunvolt Burst & Lego City Undercover have been fun distractions recently but none have truly grabbed me & made me want to play nothing but that for days on end. This all changes with Splatoon 2. |

It's funny that you bring up the second generation. They tend to get a free pass, even from people who dislike later Pokémon, and there's actually a good reason for that: much of the second generation was designed simultaneously with the first, and cut due to time/ memory constraints. This is why they're so stylistically similar to the first generation in a way many later ones don't replicate. |

| So my copy arrived earlier today and I've beat the first single player area & got my character to level 4 online (so I can buy weapons and fresh clothes) & it's so far so good. One little thing I found a bit odd though is League battle (Ranked mode for squads) is locked off until you get at least a B- rank in solo play when all the other unlocks are tied to just leveling up. NINTENDO! |

Huh. You learn something new every day. (Although of course Ho-Oh made a very early appearance in the anime.) Anyway, it's fair to say I picked a bad example with Pokémon's second generation, but it definitely started to shine through (if that's the term) in the third and onwards. |

| DoPo, possibly because I'm the only one on here at the moment because I'm terrible at this and needed a break after four straight losses (after an initial win). I really struggle to get my head around twin-stick systems, I can't aim, and I keep falling into the Moray Towers water. I feel I would be much happier with a roller but I can't buy a roller unless I've lost another five or so games with the pea-shooter. The same goes for customising my Inkling or playing the multiplayer mode I want to play.
There's a strong 'git gud' argument here, I know. But losing continually is dispiriting as all hell and removes my desire to 'git gud'. Especially when it feels like I'm letting a team down with my slow learning curve. I always hated playing team sports at school for much the same reason.
Rant/dismay over. The one-player mode looks like it might be fun though... and it shows that my online works for when better games (read: games I'm better at) come along. |

| You might try adjusting your controller sensitivity in the options.
On both test fires I had to spend quite some time adjusting the sensitivity options. I settled for the lowest possible motion control settings, trying to get it to behave like BOTW does with bows - a nice little after touch but the bulk of the aiming done with the stick. I know crumpy turns off the motion controls, while jas has then much higher than me so it's probably a case for experimenting until things feel right.
Once I got comfortable with the controls everything started to click but there was a bit of a bump in the road and I started both tests with a string of losses. |
