Spla2n: 2018 is The Year of the Octoling

Not going to put a pre-order down for this but I am super excited for it so I'll just pick it up when it's out.

I want the single player stuff, I don't want to spend £20 for just more single player

I guess it also depends on how long it is, if it's an hour then that's not great but if it's like 6 then £20 isn't bad. I've paid more for shorter games, like Jay though I need to go finish the single player in the base game.

I might make it my next game to play.

Surely we need more details before we can even suggest if the price point is worth it or not at this point.

Would you prefer it if they hadn't done any of the constant and genuinely exceptional stream of free content, and instead included all that in this bonus pack?

I'm indifferent to it. I know I'm a niche case here but I love the single player and hate the multiplayer, so multiplayer content isn't going to sway me.

...if you only care about singleplayer, why aren't you willing to buy just singleplayer?

Maybe I misunderstood this a bit, I thought there was more than just SP.

The only things connected to MP are the Octoling t shirt bonus for pre-ordering & it looks like when you finish the expansion you can play as an Octoling.

There's loads of multiplayer content, but that's being rolled out for free as it always has. The purchase is just a new singleplayer campaign (with the small bonuses Jas mentions) (although playing as an octoling isn't a small bonus, it's the fucking bomb!).

No exact time announced but I've seen mixed reports of the date, some saying 13th and some saying 14th. This makes me think it will release while it is the 13th in America but already potentially the 14th in the UK/ Japan.

I think I'll go have some Takoyaki to celebrate!

Ah cool. Hopefully I can download it before work, but even if not I'll have it for my long bus ride to Nagano tomorrow night.

I trade in a few bits and got Hyrule Warriors but also a code for the expansion pass for this, not sure if I'll play right away as got the normal single player to play and could be too much Splatoon in one go.

Even I, resident Splatoonatic, reckon going straight from the end of the campaign into the DLC would be a bit much,

I got an email recently offering me some codes for a fair few bits of gear for this as a way of thanking me for buying a year's membership for Switch Online. Is anybody here still playing this on the regular? I'd rather they went to use rather than languishing on my inactive Inkling.

To be fair most people who play Splatoon will already have these codes.

I suppose that they might, but I figured it'd be worth offering them up to a better home.

Also bear in mind those that don't have codes probably won't be able to play online.

Christ, I miss Splatoon. I think it's the one thing I actually miss about having full home internet- for everything else, my mobile data has been more than sufficient!
