| Tonic is rank, full stop. I'm not a gin fan, so it doesn't bother me much, but it's still rank as fuck. |

| You can all get stuffed. Tonic's ace, with or without gin. Yer standard sodas, cokes and lemonades and the like, are too sweet for me (and I have a massive sweet tooth) without alcohol. Tonic mixes the sweet-and-fizzy-ness of a soda with a dash of bitterness, that means I can knock it back between the alcoholic drinks I'm inevitably mixing like a knight who does that sort of thing quite a bit. I'm a big fan of ginger ale for similar reasons. |

| *shudder*Well, at least we know what to use for forfeits in the next GNamer Forum meetup, should we need them: most of us will down some tonic water, whilst Balla will have to play NES Remix 1 for half an hour straight. |

| Actually, on those occasions when I have a hip flask I tend to fill it with bourbon. Nice kick with each swig, and it is less suspicious to order just a coke. |

| Finally tracked down a single can of Coca Cola Zero Cherry, and indulged. It had that curious thinness that Coke Zero has, and that distracted me from getting a good handle on the flavour. It certainly didn't taste as cherry-y as 'normal' Cherry Coke. |

| Coke Zero in general can get stuffed. Give me sugary Coke or not at all.
In my case: among other things, lotsa Pimm's, home-made mojitos, and sparkling sake. All of which get 7-9/10. It's been one of those weekends... |

| Yesterday I drank a little more alcohol than was strictly good for me. It started with half a Green Monkey and ended with a cocktail called 'Maze'. I can't remember most of the ingredients now but it included raspberries, which are my favourite fruits. |

| That sounds like my sort of drink! If you remember the details then let me know. I'm presuming a Green Monkey has Monkey Shoulder in? |

| When I go back for Maze, I'll let you know! However, Green Monkey is a beer. |

| Boooooo. It sounded nice otherwise. Monkey Shoulder with midori or summat.
Okay so that doesn't sound too nice. |

| A crisp, delicious Lucky Buddha beer. It's quite nice I suppose, but most of the fun is in the funky bottle to be honest. |

| I think I've had a couple of those, but quite a while ago... and you're right. The beer was nothing to write home about but the bottle is quite cute. An ale house has opened up at the bottom of the road I live on, making it our nearest drinking establishment (although it has more competition than I thought when I started this post). I had a New Zealand beer whose name began with 'W' (and it of course now escapes me). It was OK but had outstayed its welcome by the time I was three-quarters of the way down the glass. The second one I had was called Madog's Ale and it was brilliant, smooth from the top of the glass to the bottom. It had come third in some sort of national beer competition in 2015 and deserved that accolade. In other news, whilst looking for the name of the first beer I had online, I found that there's a New Zealand beer company called 'Yeastie Boys'. |

| Friday night, after work, I went out for "a couple". I had, and this is only what I remember so I probably had more, two shots of the kraken, a gin and tonic, two jaeger bombs, a cocktail, 10 vodkas of various flavours, four or so sours and other minor nightclub shots and a vodka and lemonade. I got home at 5am, woke up at 8 so I could go spend the day with friends in Bristol having lunch, playing mini golf and then sitting in Krispy Kreme playing Mario Kart. Then last night I went out again and drank a similar amount, though somewhat less.
Tonight I'm going out for my actual main birthday drinks.
Yeah. |

| Cormoran Strike, the fictional detective written by Robert Galbraith/JK Rowling, will occasionally stop off for a pint of Doom Bar during his detecting. Yesterday I had a bottle of it at home: it's the smoothest beer I've had in a good long while. Could happily have had more. |

| My best friend at my new job is leaving already, off to uni on Wednesday, so I went out Saturday night and got home at 7 AM. I had a lot, I think it's fair to say. |

| A bottle of Kansho from a Wagamama restaurant in Manchester. We're going to Birmingham for Jo's birthday tomorrow and will be going to a Wagamama there; I won't be having another Kansho. It wasn't my cup of tea ale. |
