Mario Tennis NX is already in development as a launch title. The current plan is to skip programming the tennis ball: you just move your players around the court and swipe at thin air.

For Star Fox 0, the Nintendo team have been talking to Sonic Team.  Now Fox will be joined by several new and charismatic friends, including Blaire, a badger with attitude; Echo, a dolphin with attitude; Tapey, a tapeworm with attitude; and Big the Cat.

They'll still be better than the Star Fox Command supporting cast.

From the depths* of Nintendo UK's advertising office, we have uncovered an unused campaign that was designed to help boost the Wii, had it failed. The main thrust of the message was that 'Wii' stood for 'Well Into It', which would be delivered in a London accent.

*More like 'shallows', amirite?

With Namco's twenty year patent for including minigames in loading screens expiring today, Nintendo are considering their options for including snippets of past titles on the install screens of their upcoming Wii U releases. Minigames remoured to be considered include the first screen from Donkey Kong Jr., thirty seconds of Balloon Fight's Balloon Trip mode, and the whole of Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash.

Rumour: Xenoblade Chronicles X has been cancelled, fifty two minutes before release.

Deep in the bowels of Nintendo's magic cabinet NX games are being worked on. In the company's tradition of bringing novelty and fun to its franchises, one concept being considered is a mash-up of Splatoon and Kid Icarus in a punchline you can see coming from a mile away. An HD sequel to KI:U, the on-foot sections of the game will give Pit the ability to change into a squid and make progress through the ink trails that emerge from his arrows. It'll be called Squid Icarus: Uprise Ink.

I'd play that as well! The image of a little winged squid flying through the air...

Data miners have suggested that a Mercedes-Benz is to be confirmed as a playable character for Smash during tonight's Final Video Presentation. Nothing is known about the DLC itself, but the hackers have alluded to a file existing in the game titled 'Das Beste Anime Swordsman'.

This is my favourite rumour to date. Amazing.

Super Mario to stoat about with a giant two-handed claymore in Super Mario Galaxy 3 so he can be included in the next Smash.
