| Also, if I may digress: that "prank" a few screens above mostly involves a glass table as opposed to a cake. |

| I think he was aiming for the cake and messed it up. I will admit to finding it properly hilarious and having a good old chuckle. Score another one for the cake. UP THE CAKE |

| Going back to the cake "prank", it reminds me of one of the few genuinely funny bits of Big Bang Theory: this prank. (Of course, even this scene only works because it completely contradicts Sheldon's normal characterisation of not having a sense of humour). |

| 76% voted in favour of ice cream; explains why I had so many civil wars. |

| This was my first splatfest and I was thinking aren't I meant to be fighting teams of Cake but only ever played against Ice Cream, that I was a little confused as Ice Cream was always going to win but 76% explains it.
I wish the Switch had a its streaming or capture available as I had a great bit if play on skyscraper level, I level dashed off the top and splatted a enemy who was jet-packing in mid-air on the way down and what do I do fall between the gap of the buildings. |

| Whilst ice cream may have proven more popular, Team Cake clearly are proven to be more skillful at playing the game. |

| I may be to blame for Ice Cream's loss count, at least half of my games cut off half way through because of "communication errors". |

| Have to admit I didn't know civil wars were a thing in the Splatoon playbook DIGRESSION ALERT: My phone now suggests 'Spla2n' ahead of 'Splatoon'. 'Nice' 'work', Apple! . It makes sense, if a side is outnumbered three to one. |

| I get the popular vote and the team one which I guess means 53% of Cake teams won but what about Solo is that 51% of TeamIceCream where better then TeamCake but cake worked better as a Team then Ice Cream?

| I don't think you get the team one, which is probably the win rates of those who played in the team queue on average relative to the other faction. Solo is the same but for those who played in solo queue.
I'd rather they somehow merged those two fields and added a new one for splatfest-power, or whatever that little rating is that you get after 7 games, as this seems to be the way the game ranks player performance. Because of civil wars influencing team win-rates and the fact that win-rates are so dependent on your teammates, I'd like to see something that incentives smart play even when you're in a lost battle against your own faction. But it's a relatively minor problem and doesn't ultimately affect how much I enjoyed the splatfest because once the beat drops I'm inking not thinking.

| The solo percentage should always be fairly close to 50%, realistically. The team vote can boil down to a bit of crapshoot as to whichever side has more groups of four to play wiith than the other, so I guess it really does just end up being decided by the popular vote. Damned elections. |

| I think the idea is that popular vote determines the outcome in the event of a tie between team and solo results, although the popular vote, team and solo categories obviously all have the same weight towards victory in the end.
I don't know how they actually calculate the percentages, but I'd assume it's some sort of relative formula. The most basic calculation would be something like Team A's Total wins vs Team B's total wins converted into a percentage. But that gets skewed by civil wars, so I'd guess something more complicated is being calculated in order to account for the potential problems of lopsided votes. I'd hope so anyway but who knows? Even if the maths behind the scenes is dodgy it shouldn't take away from the splatfests themselves when they are live, which is the main thing. |

Maths is never dodgy - it's always pure. Until it's applied, I suppose. |

| So with the tough decision between cake & ice cream what do we think is going to be next? I'm saying Chocolate vs Peanut butter. EDIT: And just like that we have the new splatfest info http://www.godisageek.com/2017/07/europes-splatfest-splatoon-2-mayo-ketchup-august/ |

| That's a really tough one because they both serve a fine purpose, and I like to use them on different foods. I'm edging towards Mayo, in part because I think it'll be the underdog, and also because I use it less regularly. Ketchup is a bit like butter - unless my toast is swimming in it, I tend to forget its there because I'm so used to it. |

| Tough one indeed but I think Mayonnaise edges it for me because it's way more versatile in how you can use it & it never overpowers the flavour of the food you are eating. Plus Mayo & chips > Ketchup & chips. |
