| I did think that after Drunka but he was also the one that inspired the post at this moment in time. |

| Sorry to hear you son died. But that does remind me: what are your favourite dead kids in games? Mine are Jason, from the brilliantly written and amazing fun to play Heavy Rain, and Shaun, from the brilliantly written and amazing fun to play Heavy Rain. Now I'll be hypocritical and answer the actual question! My parents are pretty awesome, and still play games now. They borrow my PS4/Switch a lot, and with the announcement of the new WC, my mum's been playing on her limited edition Animal Crossing 3DSXL. My mum really likes (in no specific order but as a guess) - Enslaved Odyssey to the West
- Animal Crossing New Leaf
- The recent Tomb Raider trilogy
- The Uncharted Quadandahalfrilogy
- The Prince of Persia Howevermanyitenedupbeingilogy
- Ocarina of Time
- Perfect Dark
- a Link to the Past
- Mario Tennis Ultra Smash or whatever the most recent one is
- Breath of the Wild
- and of course Repton 3
My dad basically just plays FIFA and Mario Kart now, but has also been a big advocate of Football Manager (potato potahto), and before that, Microprose Grand Prix. He also used to play an F1 Management game on the Amstrad, and came really close to finishing Treasure Island Dizzy (which was bloomin' hard). |

Stalchildren, natch. Do the weird kids in the Lost Woods count? I think I can answer this now: nothing these days off their own back, but way back when they played more Super Mario Land and SM64 than I did. (My dad tried buying BioShock Infinite - it really doesn't work with a trackpad.) Nowadays they'll play whatever the latest Mario Kart is with me and that's about it. They do enjoy that though. They even enjoyed a bit of Rocket League when we tried it, which booted it instantly into my top 10 Switch games at the time. Oh and my mum plays scrabble and mah jong games on her laptop. |

| My Dad made a big effort to share in some of my interests when I was in primary school. But I didn't play sports, or play music, and I wasn't a part of many clubs or teams. I liked computer games. So, he made a big effort to get into gaming. Although, by 'big effort', I mean that he'd play me at N64, and let me win every time. I didn't cotton onto this until I was in my twenties...
...but fair play to my Dad! He bought his 'own controller' to play with, and he went halfers with me on Lylat Wars in the Beatties Boxing Day sale. Looking back, he obviously just wanted me to have another pad to play with and a new game to enjoy, but I didn't think that at the time at all. I remember thinking that he honest-to-goodness really enjoyed N64, and I remember decorating his home office with posters I got out of N64 Magazine. I thought he'd love that! Maybe he didn't though. Just imagine: there he is, a manager of dozens of staff, very senior and high up in his local authority, conducting business and dealing with millions of pounds...and he's got posters of Fox McCloud and all his roaster pals up on his wall. |

I'm just imagining him taking important calls while Slippy Toad stares down from his wall. |

| Watching Happy Console Gamer's latest video on his Top Ten GameCube games reminded me of this brilliant thread from a few years back: https://www.gnamer.com/t1188-top-ten-gamecube-gamesI really liked that. I'd be well up for another thread where "we just each share our personal top tens, with lots of comment and personality and emotion and anecdotes, and have a nice little chat about it with a cup of tea or a glass of gin, and just relax". Especially after this shitshow of a Nintendo DS list. |

| I've been watching a lot of Happy Console Gamer lately as he's big into the PC Engine.
That Cube thread was great and that DS list NLife have done does seem naff, so would love to another console.
Just I thought peeps weren't keen on Top 10's when we talked about it into regards to 3DS. |

| To briefly go back to the parents thing, my family are visiting at the moment and I fired up some classic doom for my dad. He was playing with a big grin on his face, it was great to see. Then we showed him the recent one and blew his mind. |

Especially after this shitshow of a Nintendo DS list. I'd be very keen on seeing a 3DS version of that thread! Or something else, but I've had a 3DS Top Ten camped since before you started your longposts thread. Maybe Jay and Andy might actually get their lists in this time too. Then again, I like votes as well... |

- In my head, (the Let's Talk Bollocks About) would be like Dusty Knackers' outstanding Mario Kart Retrospective from five years ago. Really high-quality, on-topic posting and discussion, everybody contributing meaningfully, and new games spaced out so that folk can digest the conversation: https://www.gnamer.com/t635-the-mario-kart-retrospective-part-eight-mario-kart-8?highlight=kart
That said, if that's not popular, then we could just do it like Drunkalilly's GameCube Top Ten thread: https://www.gnamer.com/t1188-top-ten-gamecube-games?highlight=gamecube
That's what I said about a vote thread in the Votes Discourse thread earlier this year. I'll come back to the 3DS longposts thread soon - I've got three half-written reviews that I've not touched in about six weeks! - but I think a more casual chat about a top ten could be done too, no hassle. I wanted to give that longposts thread a go, and although it didn't get the traction that I'd hoped, it's still went all right and I've enjoyed reading everybody else's write-ups. |

| Fire Emblem Three Houses, right? Red, Blue and Yellow.
Like Pokemon, right?
But what about green?
The Red house has a second path.
Pokemon RED AND GREEN.
My brain had a think. |

| It's a sweet touch! The relevance of the flower is one of those nice story moments in BotW that you need to seek out for yourself.
The Lady said 'git gud' today (re. Overcooked 2 DLC) and now our relationship is tainted forever. |

| It's all your fault anyway, you're pretty much the only person I know who uses that. One day it's going to slip over the irony threshold and you'll start using it seriously. |

| I can't keep track of what I say ironically and what I actually mean at all. I can go from calling Matty a globalist cuck to very genuinely telling him off for using a word he didn't know was offensive to trying to pretend something someone said was racist just to wind them up all in one conversation. |

| I adored Hilda in Fire Emblem. She reminded me of Gina from B99 at times, but at other times she was a genuinely good and supportive friend, especially my dear precious Marianne who must be protected.
Hilda from LBW was a cool character for sure, and one of the most compelling villains in the series as she was just fighting for her world.
Hilda from Pokemon has a cool design, sure, but ultimately she's a player avatar, not really a character unto herself. Also, oh boy, she's 16 and the internet sure loves to sexualise these young female characters. I get it when you're a kid yourself and these characters are your age, but these grown-ass men still drawing that art in their thirties . . . oof.
1)Fire Emblem Hilda Hilda! Hilda! Hilda! 2) Princess Hilda KWEEEEN 3) Pokemon Hilda Put on some proper trousers, winter is coming |
