Today I have learned what a cichlid is. Anyway, there's also some great new stuff in the sea!

It takes a lot of effort to get me to even set foot in my real garden, but my quest to get purple flowers on my island has kept me busy for the last month, I'd say.

If I never see another patch of flowers in Hoville again it'll be too soon, they spread like crazy.

Same here. I was originally trying to create beautifully arranged patches of flowers, but now that I've got some black roses I really can't be bothered. Not getting anywhere on blue roses though - what do you do for those?
That aside, The Lady got the rocket recipe! One step (a small one for man) closer to getting the robot...

We have the Animal Crossing guide here (which is like a small argos catalogue in size). The section on flowers is really in depth and I seem to remember that blue roses were one of the rarer types of flower that you could get.
I'm told that each flower has recessive genes and more dominant genes, just like you studied at school. If you buy a red rose from the shop, it will *always* produce another red rose, whereas ones from island tours are more prone to mutations.
If you want some blues though you can hop over to my island at some point. My girlfriend has loads of them.

Did not know that about the mutations. Huh. You're very kind re. the offer, and it's possible I might take you up on that if I'm sufficiently in need of blue roses.

I only cared about pink flowers, and I didn't need none of y'all's fancy book learning to know red and white makes pink.

Ah, but by that logic what makes purple? The answer is "whatever this flower decided". I can't get blue roses either, but I'm determined to make it happen myself.

I got a recipe for a gold rose wreath today. I think it used to be that you got them by watering roses with a golden can. I haven't seen a single golden tool recipe yet.

What's everyone focusing on with their islands right now? I've decided to get my finger out and pay off my home loan, however it doesn't help that I've forgotten about turnip day every Sunday for about a month now.

I was saving up to get the last expansion on my house, but then I shifted priorities and have been changing the layout of my island by moving lots of buildings around. The bulk of that has been shifting islanders into new locations - now I have 5 houses apiece down the west and east sides of the island, with the other buildings all in the centre. Tomorrow I'll have my last islander moved into their new location so I think I'll go back to trying to save money.
Otherwise I've been collecting 3 of each bug and fish so I can make a big collection of models (though CJ and Flick barely ever seem to visit - I keep getting Saharah!); making a mini-maze out of hedges and a bamboo walkway on the cliffs; a little outdoor gym; and an orchard so all my fruit trees are in a centralised location.
I also booted up my old Gamecube copy of Animal Crossing the other day. "Where have you been for the past 138 months?!"

I did think about moving my villagers around, but I quite like where I've initially placed all my villagers to be fair! There's a somewhat snooty one who keeps talking about how much of an "influencer" (ugh) he is, so I think it's quite fitting he lives alone up on the cliffs. I never see any of the other villagers chatting to him, so it feels apt. He does have a swimming pool up there to keep him busy, at least.

Mine are all on the central island, separated from my house, the museum, and the shops by a ruddy great fence. AS IT SHOULD BE.
(Also they aren't allowed on the cliffs.)
Anyway, I now have an island in the middle of the stream containing a gravestone. yaaaaaaaaaaay
Still need to get started on the music arena.

My villagers are spread around my island. I think I want to do something in the corner where Rodney lives, though, so he may be getting shunted . . .

My maze is now even bigger than my previous maze. I only hope that people can... solve it. I've still got to pay my loan off to get the basement, but given that I've re-created my work office in one of my rooms, I perhaps shouldn't be allowed to do so.

My stage exists! There's no longer room for anything else in the middle bit of the island.

I got all my fossils this morning I also caught multiple sharks and new bugs yesterday when I was on a friend's island. Are the numbers different when you fly?

I definitely seem to get more gold nuggets on islands than I do hitting my own rocks.
Just as I was starting to get bored.

Swimming and diving might get back into the daily swing of things with this! I've not played it in a good wee while - my island is probably on fire now.

Good to see that the 'benthics' go for a good amount as well - cheapest I've got thus far went for 600. Perhaps that's the trade-off for the villager's very slow movement...
Combined with the collection of new beetles that don't seem to mind the rain (THANK GOD), it's fair to say that I'm back into this in a substantial way. In less good news, Rodney's moved in.

Well this is immediately great. The new puns are top-notch as well; Blathers and his #bantz. The sea creatures seem to go for a lot of money as well, which is exciting! Expect that to be nerfed soon.
