Don't think I missed much on N64 that I'd actually want to play part from your Sin & Punishments due to being a Japanese game.
Online is big though, not sure how they will have held up but keen to try MK64 etc

Something that's dampened my enthusiasm a little bit is that I've now seen that those Direct clips of the N64 games didn't show them as having the Suspend Menu options like in all the NES and SNES apps' games. Not having the ability to rewind is disappointing as it's a mod con that I quite like, and not having save states/suspension points is almost unthinkable for a retro re-release game in these days. The Mega Drive games clearly showed that option so they're likely fine though.
N64 emulation is apparently pretty hard so they're probably just focusing mainly on getting them running at an acceptable level. Hopefully they can maybe update them down the road.

Aye, same here.

It did get a release through wii virtual console in September 2007 & then again for Wii U VC in September 2015 so it's kind of neat to see it pop back up for Switch 6 years later around the same month.

I have played it on Wii, but stuff like S&P, Custom Robo from Japan is the things I've missed, maybe a few other exclusives to regions as well.

Take my money - forget all this new shit that's coming out, I'll pay extra to have Banjo-Kazooie (eventually) on a console that's not collecting dust.

That would be incredible. Wouldn't need to play anything else ever again.
I'm curious how these play on Switch controllers / Joycons, as those N64 controllers will sell out immediately. And nobody is stumping up £200 for four of the bastards.

Obviously it wouldn't actually happen. Four-player would be the absolute most Nintendo's infrastructure could support without veering off the course and exploding in a ball of fire.
Anyway, Andy knows what he's getting for GNSS this year.

I’m not sure if folk didn’t remember this or if they’re just dreaming, but the Death Race mode in F-Zero X was only in single player. If Nintendo ever make a future F-Zero game, thirty-player Death Race is surely something they have to aspire for.
I’ll be desperate for one of those N64 Switch controllers, but even at forty quid so will everybody else be. I’m resigned to the fact that – unless I’m online at the specific nanosecond that they become available – there’ll be no chance I get one. Realistically I think we’ll all have to make do with Joy-Cons. I don’t think that’ll be a concern though. There’s not much of a deadzone on those Joy-Con analogue sticks, so the quick and precise movement that you’ve always needed for the likes of Pokemon Snap, Lylat Wars and F-Zero X shouldn’t be affected.
I’d seen that Treasure Co Ltd have suggested that they’ll be a part of future updates, which opens the door for Dynamite Headdy, Light Crusader and Alien Soldier on the Mega Drive. It hopefully opens up the door for Mischief Makers and Bangai-O on the N64 too. Fingers crossed for the lot of them.
Throwback Entertainment tweeted out a similar ‘what this space’ thing too. They own many of Acclaim’s old properties, even things like NHL Breakaway and NFL Quarterback Club. Licenses restrict that stuff of course, but still, I think we can expect random Acclaim bo llocks like Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls, Armorines: Project S.W.A.R.M. and Extreme G 2. This service will need a new hero – there’s no Jaleco or Data East games for the N64!

If they do Death Race like Tetris 99, you'd think it could work.
Banjo also opens the door to that Rare library (minus Goldeneye) so it will be interesting to see whether Conker makes his way over. Also, given ISS 64 used fake names and countries rather than clubs, that should be fine to see a release. The potential is certainly there for a definitive N64 experience.

Assuming that Rare games such as Banjo-Tooie, Killer Instinct Gold and Blast Corps follow up Banjo-Kazooie and knowing that Nintendo will eventually bring out unannounced stuff like Wave Race 64, 1080 Snowboarding and Donkey Kong 64, there’s not many other places to look for possible N64 Online games. Much of the N64’s western library has either already been remastered for sale (Turok 1 & 2, DOOM 64, Star Wars Episode I Racer), is locked behind licences (WWF, NBA, 007, etc) or has just been completely lost to time.
It’s Konami who holds the key to unlocking that door to a lot of what’s left of N64 Online’s potential library. ISS 64 wouldn’t present any licensing issues on paper, and neither should other Konami games like Hybrid Heaven, Mystical Ninja, Castlevania 64 and Rakugakids. They own Hudson Soft’s library too. But Konami haven’t supported any Nintendo Switch Online app in any major way so far, and they recognise that through retro compilations they can still charge money for their more highly-acclaimed older games. None of Konami’s own N64 games ever appeared on Wii or Wii U Virtual Console either, just Hudson Soft’s Bomberman 64 and Bomberman Hero.
The Mega Drive is a different matter altogether though – there’s loads of SEGA and third-party stuff that’s available to license inexpensively, I can see that library growing to well above a hundred games if they’re up for running with it.

I'd genuinely forgotten. A Tetris 99-style offering would be tremendous.
Something tells me we can't rely on Konami. Their most recent foray into gaming doesn't seem to have gone well: I wouldn't be surprised if they slink back into the cover of their pachinko machines. I do hope we get Treasure though: Mischief Makers is a definite regret from the era.
I think I'd genuinely have to give Iggy's Reckin' Balls a go. It was so weird on the pages of N64 Magazine. If I recall correctly they gave it something like 55%, and NOM splashed a 90% on it!

It would make a kind of sense; Konami pivoted away from game development because their other businesses, like sports clubs and pachinko parlours, were more profitable. Over the last two years, I bet they've regretted moving away from things people can enjoy at home and into crowded public spaces . . .

Gjones and Cappuccino kid mentioned that a little earlier which is why I replied with that, if you stick with purely the ISS games you're fine as it's international teams with fake player names but when you get to ISS Pro evo it's probably a lot harder if not impossible.
EDIT: Actually the first Pro evo should be fine as well as none of the club teams for master league were licensed but a few players were for Pro evo 2.

Was the first ISS voiced by the late Tony Gubba, as ISS '98 was? If so... may be a problem.

If this 2020 Nintendo Life article is to be believed, then it looks like that fresh blood won’t be coming in with ISS on Nintendo Switch Online:
I can’t see there being many third party games for the N64 app at all. Still, if it were to get Nintendo’s usual stuff alongside a steady stream of Rare’s non-007 and non-Disney stuff, then you’d still have access to most of the N64’s best games. Trust me: you can live your life without having played Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls.

Snuck this out while we were all watching the Animal Crossing thing . . .
What's the deal with the GNamer family plan? How many people are on it? Who is currently paying? If we have a full 8 of us, I'm more than happy to send over a tenner for the upgrade. I'd probably be happy if that went up to 20.
I should also confess that I've never actually contributed a penny so far, so I ought to send Smurf (I think?) a little bunts either way.
