Double post as I started Spiritfarer last night. I've not got far, just have the three things built on my ship.
The artstyle is great and hopefully play some more soon.

Having fully intended to get some of the Indie Showcase games, I got What The Golf instead and have spent the last half-hour chuckling away to myself. It's absolutely wonderful and I've just scratched the surface.

I'm very interested in getting What The Golf?, and I'm very interested to hear how you get on with it. I'm a little concerned that there's not enough going on for a single player.

If you have an iOS device at all just get it on Apple Arcade where whilst not quite free it feels like it might as well be.

A bit further in now and Jesus Christ. There was a brief segment where I rolled my eyes because WtG seemed to be repeating itself - and then it went off the rails.
Lab 8 Spoilers:
Super Golf Bros.! Flappy Birdie! Brilliant.
That Flubber one though
I will say that the humour is about 2/3s the actual gameplay and 1/3 puns, so if you don't love puns as much as I do then that's a consideration. Do note that I'm playing all this on my tod.

I played through Spiritfarer this weekend and bloody hell what a ride. I am currently left totally lost with no idea what to turn to (I did also blast through the Touryst which was a good laugh). Left me hollow it has.

I've liked what I've played but got to the bit I'm not keen on in those sort of games by spending time getting materials etc

Yikes. That's one heck of a recommendation from Andy, but it feels like a game where I'm going to need The Lady alongside me to cheer me up the entire time.

Yeah, I don't know if I could either - the trailer made me sad as it was! Even a Crumpy guy like Andy has had a time with it...

I've also bought WtG because it's on sale and I'm having a nice time with it. A lot of chortles! In terms of progress I've played it for about an hour and a half and it says I'm 29% complete - but there's a 2-player mode and daily challenges as well. Every level is very short but the game regularly throws little twists in there to mix up objectives.

Cheers for saying. That sounds like it's worth my money - I don't have an Apple device for Apple Arcade, but it sounds like good entertainment for a tenner all the same.

I've had my eye on this game called Paradise Killer for a while and I think those on here that are into Ace Attorney or Ghost Trick might want to give this a look as well.
I'm trying not to buy any new games for the rest of the year considering I've left my backlog untouched whilst I was in the clutches of FFXIV, but you guys aren't making it easy - WtG seems to be picking up a good bit of chatter here, Andy raving about any game is a rare sign that it must be worth at least checking out and Paradise Killer looked right up my alley. I loved the music and overall vibe of that trailer!

Having watched the Paradise Killer trailer (because Ace Attorney and Ghost Trick comparisons are never not going to turn my head), I find the voice acting of the lead really odd. Like it's faintly robotic. I'm not sure if that's intentional, but I found it quite off-putting. (Instead of, as in What the Golf, off putting.)

Used my Switch again for the first time in awhile but now finished Short Hike and Takeshi & Hiroshi
I likely have games in my Switch backlog yet alone gaming backlog which I should be playing especially as I've said I'm saving for next gen (I do have £750 already that I likely got enough) that I looking at games not coming to PS5 or Series X such as Tony Hawk but looking at the eShop few things this week that look interesting
Best Friends Forever, dating sim which I'm sure is from some good
MOON, classic anti-rpg which we never got back in day
Hypospace Outlaw, I'm playing on Xbox as it's in Game Pass but putting it out there as reviewed well on PC
Nexomon, looks like a decent Pokémon clone
Windbound, I'm more likely to play on Xbox as it looks more something I would want to play on a console but I believe it was picked in Fantasy League and could be good
Road to Guangdong, likely a Mas game
Anyone getting anything, also likes of Final Fantasy out but those are on the full price side of things and I thought Street Football was this week which might be up Cappas street

This is where I'd normally say "get it bought" but I know your backlog is ridiculous and full of some cracking games. Buy it though.

The robotic style definitely seemed to be on purpose but I don't think that was the main characters voice, anyhow I watched like 10 mins of a 30 minute demo from the devs and it doesn't seem like it will be fully voiced acted all the time.

I liked the VA - it was certainly weird, but in a good way. It added to the vibe of the game, in my opinion. But as Jas rightly said, my backlog is bursting at the seams and I really shouldn't buy anything new in a hurry... hm. We shall see.

I got A Short Hike in the end. It really lives up to its name, but it was really charming while it lasted. Definitely one for a sale; but definitely one to pick up while/when it's on sale.

I'd go so far as to say that despite their very different playtimes, A Short Hike is a good template for a new Animal Crossing. I think their pace of gameplay, the emphasis on dialogue and making friends, and even the fishing and digging all feel very similar; and I'd like to see some more of A Short Hike's exploration and fun control in Animal Crossings in the future.

Actually I fear that might outstay its welcome after a bit - it might be a bit too frustrating to play that many times - but if it ends up cheap, then maybe we can become all-star alpaca champions or something.
