The GNamer Forum Awards 2021 and Five Years of Switch (Thanks For Voting!)

Yes, it's finally happening.  I'm finally getting off my lazy online bum and firing the starter's gun, even if the Big Excel Spreadsheet o' Results might need to wait another day or so.  Voting is open!  Voting will be closed at Monday 24th January at 23:59: that's two-and-a-bit weeks, and I'm happy to go for extensions.

The usual caveats apply.  You don't need to vote in every category.  If you genuinely can't muster up some answers, don't force yourself to; if you're not fond of an award, you can leave it out.  Also, please chuck in some comments when you vote.  A list of names on its own is a bit dull, so please tell us why you voted for whatever you're voting for, even the tagline one.  No obligation to do so, natch: names are much better than nothing!

Finally, after these votes close, we'll be having a top five years of Switch vote.  You can read the details in the spoiler below.  There's nothing to stop you voting now, but I know that I for one would like to have a crack at Legends Arceus before I cast my votes!


Apart from said Switch vote, categories are the same as last year:

Contributor of the Year (two votes, weighted equally) - The award for the person that's made GNamer tick this year.  Who's delivered the best threads, whipped up some cracking posts, and made you want to keep logging back onto GNamer, even in the downtimes?  

Funniest Forumite (one vote) - Arguably the most coveted award.  Who's made you laugh the most this year on the forum?

Post of the Year (three votes, in order of preference) - What were the very finest individual posts you read this year, be they funny or profound?  We (read: I) would strongly advise that you pick your posts from the Posts Appreciation Thread (starting here), or post your picked posts in there.  There's basically no chance of your chosen post getting the acclaim it deserves if it's not put somewhere other people will see it!

Topic of the Year (three votes, in order of preference) - What threads have been must-reads for you every time you signed on in 2021?  While they were active, anyway.

Tagline of the Year (three votes, in order of preference) - Which of the forum's subtitles made you cackle, smirk, or shake your head sadly when you logged on?  Check the OP of the Tagline Thread for 2021's finest!  Note that this is an ordered vote this year, to avoid a hundred taglines being tied on one point apiece.

Nintendo Game of the Year (five votes, in order of preference) - Which Switch titles, either retail or eShop, all-new or remake or Switch Online rerelease, were the top of your list in 2021?  Did you enjoy hunting monsters or snapping them?  Did you blow up a planet, or did the world end with you?  Reminder: if it released on Switch in 2021, even if you played it somewhere else, it goes here (unless the Switch version was noticeably worse).  Oh, and Pikmin Bloom sits here too.

Nontendo Game of the Year (five votes, in order of preference) - Did the new generations of console clank into action for you this year?  Or do you feel like the industry's caught in an infinite loop?  Share you favourite releases that didn't make it to the Switch here!

Honourable Mentions - Is there anything to shout about that didn't make it into your votes?  Tell us!  Some ideas: forumites and threads that didn't make it, developers or gaming figures who stood up in your eyes, niche specific parts of games that made 2021 for you a little bit, or just Cappa's signature again.  (Whole games are fine too, but do tell us something about them!)

Dishonourable Mentions - And of course, you can roast anything that was rubbish in 2021 here (apart from specific users, obviously).  I don't think we need any further ideas for this one, sadly...

GNew Year's Resolutions - Finally, now that we're all boosted or thereabouts, what do you hope to get up to this year with your new-found viral resistance?  Outdoors or indoors, either's good!
