I really can't wait to have a bit of time with this. I'm still so happy every time I'm reminded it's real.

EDIT: Maybe it was me? I've got weird visions of me working through it now, but maybe they're just some weird ass false memories.
I originally thought I organised it, but a quick search through Twitter seems to point to you being the organiser. I handled a little bit of the admin (I created a league graphic and set the fixtures) and also cajoled people in to getting their games played. We had to rely on some ONM and Twitter people to make up the numbers, which is partly why it failed I think. Outside of a handful of matches, it didn't last long. Here's to the 2022 season!

Football's coming home and on the go No more years of hurt No more need for dreaming Talk about football coming home and on the go in Rome We were strong, we had grown And now I see us ready for more Mazz good as before Rosalina certain to score and I come screaming Three jaxi on a shirt Striker's Cup still gleaming 15 years of hurt Never stopped me dreaming I know that was then But it's happening again It's coming home and on the go Three jaxi on a shirt

So, has everyone picked this up? What are people's thoughts? I've actually left it for now: what with the news that single-player is even scanter the normal, and with the character roster looking awfully unfinished to start with, I'm biding my time. Not sure for how long.

Yeah I've played the first cup, it plays well, and I'd argue the single player isn't that much less than I remember on Wii, but I don't remember well enough perhaps. I'm hoping we'll get a league going here to justify it at least.

Aye it's a little less that what charged had but those modes don't sound particularly exciting so it's no real loss?
Mario Strikers Charged extra modes from the Mario wiki:
Domination Mode - Taking the place of Super Mario Strikers’ grudge match mode, domination mode can be played by up to four players. Two teams are created, and players can choose which team they wish to play on. Any team combinations are available
Striker Challenges - Striker Challenges are similar to the Mission Mode in Mario Kart DS. Each character has one challenge, amounting to 12 total. Most challenges simply involve winning under difficult circumstances (Such as the goalie being very weak to charged shots, the opposing team leading by five points at the start, etc.). Challenges are separated by difficulty, with two classified as Novice, two as Professional, three as Superstar, three as Legend, and two as MegaStriker. Completing each challenge unlocks a new cheat for use in Domination Mode, and also unlocks a card featuring artwork of the player used in that challenge. Each of the 12 Challenges allows the player to play as all 12 Captains. However, only 11 Captains are the opponent, as Donkey Kong is faced twice, which leaves Bowser Jr. out. Before a striker challenge is started, there is an article in the Striker Times based on the event.
----
The fact I couldn't remember them at all says it all really, not to mention these games have always focused on the multiplayer aspect whether that's locally or online. Battle league's biggest/strangest misstep for me is how it limits how many players can play on a single team online which is 2v2 only - except weirdly if you have people to play with locally you can have the maximum up to 4 & the game doesn't seem to filter by player count either so it can put you in 3v2 & 4v2 matches.
When you're in and playing it is good fun though and the new gear stats actually seem well balanced, here's hoping with Nintendo saying it'll have free updates they add some modes for solo players & give us the option to play 4v4 online.

Striker Challenge sounds grand in theory, says the chap who's been waiting for Mario Kart to bring back Mission Mode ever since DS. Not sure if the execution lives up to the premise, and only 12 missions is a bit shrugworthy. Still, it's something else, and it was in the game at launch which is a big point in its favour!

I believe I remember Striker challenge now that it's been brought up and I'm pretty sure I had a horrible time with some of its bullshit difficulty. I'm certainly not gonna defend the lack of content though, I can see what they're trying to do with Strikers but the whole approach where they ration out content is wearing thin, it doesn't help me feel inclined to stick with a game.
Anyway, I've joined the club (Red kit though Jas? ) so I'm looking forward to when the season starts on that, still don't think we know for sure how many players it'll be but I'm cautiously optimistic we'll be able to have a team of 4 play together.

Kits and team name can be changed but I was thinking red for the Nintendo/forum colour. We can also play during off-season btw so I'd still be up to test that 4 player club theory out.

After a bonkers weekend, I only managed to play an hour or two of this. It was good fun. Singleplayer cups are plenty for me. The only absence I felt from the Wii game was the newspaper headlines; they were a laugh. On a slightly related note, the way the teams work now means the game is slightly less . . . is immersive the word? Having one "character" captain and a team of generics meant it felt like each team could actually coexist. Combined with the newspaper stuff, I really felt like my Peach team could have a rivalry with the Waluigi or whoever it may be. In this new system, there are regularly two Marios or whatever on the pitch. It's weird and it means I have less of a personal investment.

The lack of content especially after flack Tennis and Golf got is weird then on the other hand Kart only has Cups as well.
Then I went digital that hey heres Daisy, I'll dip back in, compared to Tennis/Golf which I finished then trade in and didn't see the new content, also we didn't play much online.

Not defending the content side of things here as it really should have been rounded out a bit more. Though I do wonder if the pandemic has maybe had a bit of an impact on it? How quickly the free updates release and what they are should clear that a up a bit.
EDIT: Also the home kit of GNamer FC has now been changed to pink.

Yassss!
I've been dipping into this for a cup or a couple of online matches almost every day, and I'm really getting the feel for it now. I've had some great 4-3 nail-biters, as well as some satisfying 10-1 stompings.
