| With the latest system update, we've got zany new 'musak' on the eShop now. There's also a service that'll send you demos without prompt through SpotPass. You'd think that Nintendo would demonstrate this new function by adding a demo or two today, wouldn't you...? |

It is strange, given Wii Karaoke U was released on the same day. I'm not a huge fan of the new eShop music, wish there was a way to change it back. Or it should randomise between the two. Also somewhat related: I managed to match up a Toki Tori 2 picture on eShop load yesterday, but nothing happened after it. Unless I was meant to press A after matching, but I feared it would start the images rolling again. |

Me too. I found it did a good job at making you want to browse for games more, and took my mind off the awful storefront (not so awful at launch when there were less games to look for) |

| The Wii Shop Channel music is brilliant. By all rights, it should be a dancefloor filler. |

| I didn't think it was possible for NoE to find a way to follow-up last week's Tennis and Golf Virtual Console sucker-punch with two worse games, but they've cracked it.
Next week: Dr Mario.
The week after that: Spontaneous combustion. |

| To be fair, I've played Dr. Mario more than ever in the last week. I just decided to have a go of the Game Boy ROM I downloaded from the eShop and try and get my money's worth (I think I got it in a sale). It's not as mince as I'd always believed, but it's not exactly good either. Clu Clu Land isn't that bad either.
There's a vote thread for someone: the worst Nintendo games ever made. There's some stuff released on the Wii U Virtual Console that would surely be in with a shout?

| I don't think Dr Mario is that bad either, but we're getting the same unexciting games again so in that respect it really isn't welcome. I WANT SOMETHING WE'VE NEVER HAD ON VIRTUAL CONSOLE BEFORE. |

| What's the verdict on Mighty Switch Force 2, folks? I've got the original on the 3DS and think it's merely OK. Still, worth another look at a fiver? |

| I decided to upgrade one of my Wii VC games so I could use the GamePad controller (it's a complete farce that you can't use it as a "Classic Controller" in the Wii Emulator).
Like the 3DS, the VC is rather stupid and distracting. I managed to find the hidden option to hide the display on the GamePad, but it still displays a message (with a "glow" around the edge of the screen), just like the 3DS shows a message saying to press for the menu.
First of all, why is the option hidden in the first place? There's a large blank square on the menu that it can be used for.
Secondly, why can't the message be turned off so the screen is not on at all?
Not to mention that the game I upgraded is the wrong ROM. I have a French/German version of Super Metroid with subtitles you can't turn off (luckily, there aren't many cutscenes).
The ability to change controller layout is a nice addition (even if Super Metroid already has that feature). I'll definitely be changing the shoulder buttons around (the top ones are a bit out of the way). |
