DuckTales is being rush-released onto eShop today. I've been looking forward to it, and earlier traded in three decent 3DS games to pay for an eShop card in anticipation of it...and it's turned out to be a bit keich.
A EuroGamer 6/10, an EDGE 5, a GameSpot 4.5/10, (on par with, amazingly, their score for ZombiU), a C&VG 5/10...dammit.

Dammit. It's a heck of an outlay (for a downloadable title, at least) for DTR and if it's going to be pants... I'll probably still get it, mind, cos nostalgia.

I'm still getting it myself. IGN gave it a 7ish and say pretty much the same as Chris' CVG review whom actually seems to be using the whole 1-10 scale as he pretty much says it's a okay game . Also zombiu deserved it's score it's crap.

I tend to enjoy platformers more than most, but I've never considered DuckTales on the NES to be among the elite. Still, as it happens I'm 95 points away from receiving a Nintendo Network £5 discount...if I get Pokémon Rumble U then I can get a fiver off DuckTales. Both for £22 isn't as harsh on the wallet, and I did make money on those 3DS games I traded in. Hmm. Much to think about.

It seems like wayforward have lost their *ahem* way when it comes to 2d platformers, shame as I had my eye on duck tales & now I'm not so sure.

It really isn't, in fact I think its still one of the best uses of wii U.

That's a bit harsh. I didn't mean to lie - I was only following what I'd heard on Nintendo Life, general Twitter chat and C&VG.

Having thought about it for a bit, all those critics saying Duck Tales Remastered is pants must have a point! Now going to save my cash and try to clear some of the ever-stable-at-fifty-five-games-according-to-my-Backloggery backlog. Cheers, Phillips!
Having said that, I have half an eye on Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams. I put myself through Giana Sisters DS, so now I feel the series owes me.

The Duck Tales thing is a bit of a kick in the backside. We've recently had a feelgood feeling (NOTE: EDIT LAST PHRASE) with Animal Crossing and Pikmin. If this is much of a disappointment, as everyone says, having bothered to get 90-year-old voice actors into a studio...
It'll be interesting to see what GamesRadar give it. One of their ex-staffers now works for Capcom and has been heavily behind it. Might get a bit awkward.

I don't care what anyone says about DuckTales. It's DuckTales and WayForward, dammit! I'll be downloading this as soon as I get home tomorrow.
And besides, I haven't bought an eShop game (that isn't a 30p Virtual Console title) since Little Inferno and Trine 2 (which was dull anyway).

I nabbed a two day XBL pass and downloaded a whole load of demos that I missed, including this. Based on the 360 demos, I think I can say the same for Giana Sisters as I would Cloudberry Kingdom: they control well, they're nostalgic, they're a bit tough, they're a bit frustrating and the presentation turns me right off.
I like the idea behind both though. Whereas Giana Sisters has this mad time-warping thing going on, Cloudberry Kingdom bases it's challenge on how successfully you've completed the previous levels. Quite smart, in my opinion.
EDIT: I've decided to download either DuckTales or Rumble U. Probably the former - with Ninja Gaiden 3 on the go, I'm already playing a button-bashingy brawler-type game. I don't need two, do I? I'll hopefully see some reviews today.

DuckTales. Here's my impressions of the first hour or so that I've had with it:
Spoiler:
Thumbs down so far. You know WayForward will always deliver when it comes to the animation and the audio, but the controls here have really let me down. I lost a life on no less than five occasions due to the dodgy, unreliable controls. That, for me, is huge: the most important part in any game is the controls. Whether I'm jumping across pits or pogo-ing over some jaggy brambles, I just can't depend on the controls. Maybe I've been really unlucky, but in a game as tough as this it's just mince. In addition, I've found there to be too many old-fashioned, cheap level design choices that should have remained in 1989. Death has been unavoidable more than once. Pretty unfair, if you ask me. Taking you right out of the level when you reach a game over is quite frustrating too. Perhaps a bit too close to the games of old with that idea.
I'll add that I was never the biggest NES DuckTales fan, but appreciated that it was solid fun. I might feel the same about this remake, but not as it stands.

Downloaded both pokemon and ducktales. Thought at £13.50 & £12 thought I would earn enough points for my second NNP code but no I'm 10 points away from it. Dam it, as I was going to use that fiver on Giana Sisters as it looks decent, not sure if i will buy that now day one. Or i might buy it to earn the remaining points to then go use on I don't know.

ONM's review has just come in at
Spoiler:
62%
which has provoked angry response from others. Apparently there's a massive split between Euro and US scores (where they got cool promo gifts hinty hint hint). It looks like everything's ruined forever. But I'll probably get it anyway (thus responsible for the 2nd Video Game Great Crash)

I've only played DuckTales briefly but to me it plays like a NES game with better graphics, which i was expecting. I think people have been expecting more then that which is the problem.
As I've been playing lot of Pokemon Rumble U, which is so basic but has been so fun. I think people reviewing this game forget its a eShop title and is it's price. It's not like it's a £30 3DS title like that last one.

Shame about Ducktales, it does seem like I'm not the audience it's aimed at.
Though I do find Wayforward do best work when they aren't working under hire from some publisher, Aliens DS aside.
