This. Although I agree that the franchise would need something outside just that if there were more frequent instalments (e.g. one per generation), right now shinier shooting is all that's required.

Gunmam Clive HD Collection was released for Wii U recently. Turns out that, if you complete GC1 as Chieftain Bob, who originally only appeared in the sequel, this happens.
I think it's a lovely touch. Oh, and I shouldn't have to say this (because I shouldn't have done it myself ), but AVOID THE COMMENTS LIKE THE PLAGUE.

I've just bought the game on the strength of that alone. And I've also completed GC1 with Ms. Johnson (on Easy). Playing through it with Chieftain Bob is going to take a while - melee combat only in a shooter?!

If Duck Mode is possible I'm sure melee only mode is.

Duck Mode removes the bosses, though, doesn't it? Chieftain Bob needs to wallop those guys and it's well 'ard.

Chaps: Year Walk. 8/10 from Ninty Life. I'm very tempted. Anyone played it on other devices? Recommendations/otherwise?

It's on my Wii U, but I've only just got past the prologue... as ever, more on this story when I have it!

It's Simogo so yes By far their most strangest game but still a joy to explore and figure out, I still need to get the wii U version myself but I just have a lot to play at the minute.

According to this here NintendoLife article, Stealth Inc. 2 is £4 and Thomas Was Alone is £2.20 until October 8th. There's never been a better time to be mauled to death unexpectedly/jump around as a red rectangle.

I don't really count the digital Wii games as Virtual Console, so in here my question goes: I bought Mario Sports Mix on a whim last night. Has anybody played it? Which sports are worth sampling, and which should I leave alone to keep my sanity/love of Nintendo intact?
It'll be a nice light-hearted relief from sodding Year Walk, at least. See the WHYBP thread for my thoughts on that.

I've had Sports Mix for a few years now, but I've hardly played it. The sports by shallow by design - and all worth dipping into, IIRC - but it's not got a lot of staying power. It'll be good to have on your Wii U home menu though, as I don't recall any of it being particualarly bad at all. It's a decent enough all-rounder.

Well I got lots and lots of mileage out of Mario Party 5's ice hockey and volleyball modes, so hopefully I should be able to overcome the game's shallowness!
I played a bit of each tonight. Dare I say that they feel better suited to me than Year Walk?

Just last week I found out about Octodad: Dadliest Catch, and it looks like the greatest thing ever. Just my luck that I also found a few days later that it's getting a Wii U release next week. Has anybody got this on PSN?

I've been waiting for it to come to Plus instead of buying it, does that make me a bad person.
I have played it at an event and the controls are god awful but that's on purpose as each trigger etc is one limb.

I'm firmly in the camp of it'll likely frustrate me instead of amuse me. I'd play it on plus though even then not likely for very long.

Nope, it's had Plus exclusive discounts a few times but never free.

Pissing about on the Wii U eShop, and found out that Octodad: Dadliest Catch, Freedom Planet and The Blinding of Isaac: Rebirth are all out this week. Octodad is 20% off at launch (bringing it down to £9.59 for the first week), and Freedom Planet is 15% off if you downloaded the demo around E3 time.
There's also a brand new Bike Rider DX game coming out the week after! I knew nothing about that, so a nice surprise, there.

If you've not had a chance to play it yet, Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is a brilliant game. There's a massive DLC pack for it coming out on Halloween too.

There's quite a lot out this week, and Namco Bandai are having a sale on top of it all. That hard-to-find and well expensive One Piece Red game is down to under a tenner, and the fantastic Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is down to only £6.50.

I should crack on with beating Shovel Knight: Plague of shadows as I plan to get Freedom planet.
