| I've got the Megadrive collection thingy on the PS3. There's a possibility I'll've used that console more as a Megadrive than a PS3 as I try and get through a few of the other games. |

| That collection is okay, I feel some of the games don't have the same feel as they did on a actual mega drive, but there is some good games like Golden Axe & Streets of Rage that do represent SEGA better then something like a Vectorman.
Also there is a few classic on PSN. |

| It's still EarthBound Beginnings for myself. It's as crusty as the cheese in my fridge, with more walking than you can shake a stick at... a stick you'll need, after all that walking! That said, there is a charm to it, rather similar to its descendant (surprised?!). I am using a guide, though, as I would not have gotten anywhere by now otherwise. |

| Yay! I've started playing it too - properly that it. Favourite thing so far? The hippie enemy that tries to convince you, via bullhorn, your mum's calling for you. |

But I am playing Story of Thor / Beyond Oasis on the Megadrive collection... and I'm really enjoying it. It's got a Minish Cap-y feel, and in fact, it is a bit Streets of Rage-y in its combat, which is odd considering it's a Zelda-a-like. Make better use of the multiple knife/kick than the old Sega arcade games, definitely. |

| I brought up Story of Thor / Beyond Oasis on my Mega Drive Gintendo article, I do own the game on the MD and I should really go play it or the other Zelda clone. |

| For what feels like the eleventy billionth time, Donkey Kong Country 3. It seems like I'm on the last world, so it should be done by the end of the week. |

| Having taken DKC3 out, I've upgraded to playing DK64 (and Final Fantasy V on my phone). Jungle Japes is open for business and... well. It's not as good as my memory of it, sadly. |

| Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - done
After cleansing myself of the 90s console wars, I finally got round to finishing Sonic 2 on the PS3 Megadrive collection. In all fairness, it's not nearly as bad as Sonic games always appeared as a biased kid, and fixes a lot of the problems the first one had. It does suffer from the same problems as the other 2D ones: The combination of Sonic's sprite being a certain size, combined with how "fast" he is, means there's still the occasional leap of faith, or a baddie that's totalled you with a projectile before you've had a chance to see it. But these situations are far fewer than the first game; it doesn't punish you for "going fast", which is undeniably the most fun thing about the game. The level design is much more varied than the first game as well; each world actually feels different, and by the time you get to Wing Fortress Zone, you've really seen a lot of stuff. The special stages can do one though; having Tails follow you with a delay in movement, and watching him career into a spike, is excruciating. It's like giving half of your life savings to a toddler and then running through a crowded shopping centre.
It's unfair to rate this, I guess, so... let's do it anyway... er... 7.7 out of 9.5.
Also - Story of Thor - 7.5/10 - it's definitely charming, but a bit basic, and oddly paced. As mentioned a few posts back, the SOR-style combat's pretty neat though. Also in progress: Golden Axe Warrior. So far, it's proving to be a very charming Zelda 1-esque adventure. And by Zelda 1-esque I mean A BLATANT RIP-OFF. Mechanics, as well as bad guys, are 1:1 copies of Zelda ones; and even the world map is the same - forest in the south-east; desert in the middle-middle; rocky mountains in the north-west; odd little graveyard in the west. It's like a fan remake. But I forgive it as it's essentially like playing another old-school Zelda game. |

| I've never play GA:W as it wasn't a proper Golden Axe but nice to know your still on your mission to play good games of the 90's, will you be moving on where possible to play other consoles as I remember from the Classic thread there was one era you seemed to had missed totally and maybe what us lot deem as classics maybe should be checked out first. |

Probably not; that costs money, whereas I got this collection of 30 games for under a tenner. I also find (and this is probably a big problem with my mental state) that I'm more likely to try games that I'm not too arsed about playing if they're from an older generation. I think it's all the cutscenes and load times. |

| In the ongoing whirlwind that is my attempt to grapple with my towering backlog, Golden Sun's name came up. I've got two steps further down the road and might have recruited a third character? So early on... so very early on. |

| On a freezing Sunday afternoon whilst nursing a filthy cold, I revisited Mario Golf Toadstool Tour and didn’t realise just how many modes there were tucked away. The ring shot mode is devilishly addictive, particularly as Shadow Mario is the reward. Yet to unlock this yet, but Mario Golf has always been one of them incredibly addictive games that I can play for 5 minutes, or 5 hours, and never really feel like I wasted my time. I do still wish there was a console version with the RPG mode from the handheld games though. |

| So many places I could put these 3 games I've been playing, could make a PlayStation Version of GNamer All-Singing, All-Dancing, Haven't-I-Seen-You-Before (Possibly Several Times) Wii U Virtual Console Thread seeing you can now play classic PlayStation games on PS3, PS4 and VITA like Stu who's playing FFVII PS1 Classic on his VITA from what I gather from his twitter. Which are playing played on PlayStation platforms, so why not what are you playing on PlayStation thread. After a bit of discussion on twitter with Zero who does like a VC game & Jas, at the moment I'm talking about the 3 games here starting with Dark Cloud This I played the longest today for about 2hrs which sounds a lot but only on the 7th floor of the first dungeon but have built one complete house in the village. I can see why this has become a classic for the PlayStation Nation as it has a bit of everything in it be it dungeon crawling, item management or building villages. What I'm most impressed with is the emulation, yeah it looks old but this is 15 years old and no way it looks it. Got to give high praise out that one, just a shame it's 4:3 not 16:9 on PS2 games. From one RPG to a biggie in Final Fantasy VII Enhanced Edition as I'm calling it This could of gone in the FF thread, but I'm here now after the amazing gameplay trailer of the remake and hearing this is on PS4. I had to download it just to have something FFVII in my life in till that remake which looks further long that I thought it would be maybe it will hit it's 20th anniversary in 2017. On this version, it looks okay for what is a 18 year old game running a bit better, there is a few extras like 3x speed, no encounters and unlimited limit break if you want and you can turn on assists etc if you want help getting through the game. I've played it a few times and even own the PS1 Classic (would have to play on my PSTV) but never got far even in it that I'm not sure if this flower girl is going to be important I've just started what is Mission 2, I gather I'm head of Zero already. Ohh and the first remake trailer is on the menu of FFVIIEE and by good watching it running properly not a stream or anything on a TV is Rouge GalaxyYet another RPG which so far stars Jaster as the main character who has been joined by Steve and Simon in this highly acclaimed but commercial flop. This is another PS2 game I wanted and by Level-5 (maybe we should of seen something from Level-5 at PSX) but after about 30mins into it going from Dark Cloud to this, I wasn't feeling it. Combat system is real-time random battles, it looks lovely due to the art style. I will come back to it but not my first thing to play. Also I may have praised the Dark Cloud emulation but this seemed to frame rate issues, it may had them anyway and would be cool if digital foundry check this game and the rest out as well. From PSX and just looking at what I own on PS4 and what I know the PS4 to me is becoming a RPG system much like the PS2 be that for better or worse as I didn't like the PS2. I hope Sony has learned from Nintendo and get out PS2 classic in a consistent manner instead of us waiting for the next big game to arrive and from the announcement trailer we got a few to look forward to with Arc the Lad being the one I'm most likely to get. Has anyone played The Mark of Kri, I hear good things about it? |

| I remember well looking forward to Dark Cloud after seeing it in the first issue of Official PlayStation 2 Magazine back in 2000. I thought it looked quality, just like Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, Spyro the Dragon and all the other Nintendo-ey games I liked at the time. Imagine how gutted I was when I played it and discovered that it wasn't a 3D Platformer like I assumed. I was raging. That looked nothing like an RPG to me when I was eleven. RPGs looked like that. Mortified. Anyway, no idea about any of those games, mas. Sky Odyssey and Rumble Racing better be coming out. |

| Wouldn't the write up say it was a RPG though, well with GTA's on there can only hope for more 3rd party games.
But from the trailer and PEGI leaked ratings, it seems to be only first party coming anytime soon also is Rumble Racing a classic but then again War of the Monsters is already out. |

| Is that version of FF7 a complete one, mas? My progress on FFV has gone backwards: I've backed out of The Rift after opening up the final area to grind up some jobs and possibly even some levels. |

| It is Zero also it's the game I seem to playing over everything else which like Stu tweeted I find it really ironic that we're all playing an ancient game on superpowered hardware! and on mine I could be playing Witcher III or I could turn off the PS4 and put the Wii U on and play XCX. But it's got me hooked in, just only a few hours into it by meeting Aerith/Aeris (I've gone Aerith) for the first time proper and the interaction between Cloud and her just this early on that what I know is coming could be and I may have to watch Advent Children after it's all done. Also hearing it's a easy Platinum, but I've looked and getting 99,999,999 gil maybe hard with a few other bits and bobs. |

| Have you never beaten FF7 Mas? You're in for a great journey. As to the platinum - if it's the same as the Steam achievements then it's easy but time-consuming. |

| I've been playing Golden Axe Warrior. It's alright, in that it improves on a few mechanics of the original Zelda. Everything else it COMPLETELY RIPS OFF. I'm surprised Ninty's lawyers didn't have a word. Each baddie has a direct equivalent; dungeons has shutters and locked doors; you remove trees to find secret staircases on the map - sometimes you get a reward, and somtimes you get fined; there are random money gambling games... it's a shame, because mechanically it's very good for the time. But this game, I think, was made by a guy who played Zelda round a mate's house. |
