Earlier today I went to see Wreck-It Ralph again, and thank foop I did. The first time I saw it, I'd either placed too much expectation on it, or was thinking too much about it and not concentrating on it, or was wondering if the 3D was doing anything (the 3D did not add to the film - it never does, in my humble, unsubtle and often wrong opinion)... now, though, I recognise thoroughly that it rocks. Wreck-It Ralph? Wreckommend-It Ralph, more like!
Don't worry, I've already got me coat.

So, the Oscars anyone? I did a write-up on my blog *cough*linkinmysignature*cough* and the only real surprises were Jennifer Lawrence winning best actress, Ang Lee winning best director and Argo not getting snubbed as expected and winning best picture.
Oh, and go watch this - it won best animated short and it's ruddy brilliant.

Speaking of Wreck-It Ralph, was Brave really better than it? Really?

No, no it was not. Brave was pretty sub-standard Pixar fare.

This piece (linky link) gives a more cynical take on that particular surprise. His piece on Anne in Les Mis. is less glowing than some, too.

I've just watched this through LoveFilm, and I didn't think it was so bad! I accepted the magic from the appearance of the very first wisp, and then just enjoyed it. Wasn't ground-breaking like Wreck-It Ralph, but was very enjoyable!

My shiny new Wreck it Ralph blu ray showed up yesterday, so I watched that & aye it's quality stuff.
It was fun to try and spot well known characters in the background of certain scenes, the whole concept is top notch & I'd even say there is a lot of wiggle room for a sequel.

A few nights ago I watched Brave again (and again with the commentary for a second time) and I still can't get past how straight-forward it is compared to most Pixar films.
In other news, I saw Oz The Great And Powerful on Saturday. It's a beautiful looking film but the acting is no great shakes, in my opinion.

I'm looking forward to it, surprisingly. I didn't expect to after a) last summer was over-saturated with superhero movies and b) Iron Man 2 wasn't particularly great, but that trailer was phenomenal.

I'm waiting impatiently for Iron Man 3 as well as Man of Steel and Kick Ass 2 and so on. ( I like my comics/ comic movies)
Do also want to see Die hard 5 and GI Joe but no one wants to see them with me during the week where it's the only time I seem to get off now days

And The Wolverine now as well. It certainly looks better than Origins, but that's not really hard. The main reason I'm excited is the sneaky suspicion there will be a Marvel Cinematic Universe- style sting for Days of Future Past.

I watched the trailer for that, looked ace. I plan to watch The Walking Dead prior to World War Z coming out so I can be in full zombie mode in the summer.

Went and saw Iron Man 3 last night. A good fun romp, perhaps a little heavy on the humour but with some incredibly dark moments that I guess needed balancing. As ever, Downey Jr. sells it. My only complaints are that it didn't seem to be 'about' anything, it was just a bunch of stuff that happened, and the action never really makes me feel that the characters are in any danger. Also, they didn't pronounce Extremis the way I did in my head when reading the comics.

If anything, I was glad to see it deviate from the comics. I'd rather have a story that surprises me than one I've already read. Anyway, I'm far more excited to see Man of Steel. Superman Returns was a bit of a disappointment so it seems like Superman is long overdue a decent film. And I feel a bit over-Marvelled as of late. The Marvel films are everywhere, and I've been collecting the Marvel Graphic Novel Collection, but I haven't really read any DC in about 4 years. So hopefully it will have a nice mix of the fun of the marvel films and the depth and gravitas of Nolan's Batman.

Yes! Seeing Man of Steel's new trailer in 3D.. Let's say I needed the cinema to myself
I think the Extremis was the whole point of the movie and that AIM were there but without M.O.D.O.K

Seeing Iron Man on Monday hopefully
Saw 'Evil Dead' on Friday night; delightfully fun and gory. Not a serious horror film, not scary at all. Had about two "Jumpy" bits, but was still a good film. It never takes itself too seriously, which is why I think it works. The whole cinema was laughing at certain points, due to a particular character just being hilarious with nearly every line. Highly recommend if you want some easy viewing and like gore (if you hate gore; avoid like the plague) Also told it's enjoyable if you liked the original, but you'll have to take my mates word on that.

It sounds very much to be similar in tone to the original. I've also heard good things about it, which is surprising as horror remakes tend to be complete garbage.
