This. I don't really like most of his reviews, but hey - its his opinion!, but the Jimquisition stuff is consistently very good. You have to realise he's playing a joke character - all that "Thank God for Me!" stuff. He has made great strides in helping the "sexism in games" cause, which you have to admire if nothing else. | The UK sales are out and they are bad. The Wii U, despite the year head start, has already been outsold by the 1/4. Knack has charted higher than 3D World.
And if you look at the 3DS equivalent of this thread, you'll find some bad news there too. Depressing day all round, really. |

| Utter rubbish. I expected the PS4 and One to outsell the Wii U, but the critically-not-acclaimed Knack outselling SM3DW? Rubbish. |

| Remember that Mario games are very long-term sellers. Knack will be out of the charts in a week or two, 3D World will be there for at least a year. |

| Link to the charts. (They weren't fully out when I first posted.) Mario barely makes it into the top 20. Knack is 2 places higher.

01/10/13, 10:49 pm in the Super Mario 3D World thread Sorry to be a downer but to me Nintendo has picked the worst date possible the same day as the PS4 launch are they mad. The game looks great but I won't be buying on it's release due to buying my PS4 and games for that.
I did get it as it looked that good and is but seems I was right by the chart position, it was a awful day for it to come out on. |

| Knack was bundled with the PS4, though, and at midnight launches, certain shops required people to buy Knack in order to get a shiny new console.
But yeah, this is bad.

| Plus once again Nintendo have made no effort whatsoever to let people know it exists.
Don't think this forum is to blame anyway, myself, Jaster and Dusty (I think) bought two copies of the game. |

| This just drives home how bad a situation the wii U is in, I still think it will pick up but it needs those big online multiplayer based games soon as that's the genres that sell the most. |

| It has the big online multi player game such as COD on the Wii U, but people not don't know this. I've said time and time again they need to do ad's on TV with likes of COD, Batman, Assassins, Watch Dog's being shown being played on Wii U then people will think I like mario but I also want to play the new COD ohh I can on the Wii U. |

| From that topic to another the VGX awards are Saturday/Sunday and here's something Wii U related on that.
Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime will show off an unnamed "upcoming Wii U game", said Spike in an announcement.
This is Nintendo's big chance to show what the Wii U is about |

I'm not saying those aren't big but most folk will get those on non Nintendo formats no matter how good they may be on wii U it's the whole peer pressure thing between friends, anyway I was thinking of the likes of Mario kart 8 & smash bros. EDIT: calling it now that VGX game will be Yoshi Yarn |

| It's a sad state of affairs for Wii U owners just now. Despite me not being that active on here in the past year, I do still love Nintendo and my Wii U. Games like Blacklist show just how great the console is when compared to other formats and that it can more than hold it's own with regards to third party releases.
I do wish Nintendo would open up their wallets and spend a bucket load on advertising, they can't rest on their old theory that they've built it so people will come.
Regardless, I'm looking forward to getting to 3D World for Christmas. I would have got it this weekend but an incident with the motor and two new tyres means it'll need to wait for Santa to pull it out of his sack. |

| So the Wii U got some love today from Kyle Bosman on game trailers in a reply to Rubin, but also more bad on sites. Saying Nintendo should do a SEGA or scarp the Wii U and make a new console or just make handheld's. |

| There's not a damm thing wrong with the console and I've even seen some "experts" claim it's not performing because there's no good games, the problem simply lies with Nintendo's lack of direction for the console, nobody knows what a Wii U is because Nintendo themselves don't seem to know yet either. Something, anything in terms of marketing the console will do wonders, just look at PS4, it's clear that that seems to be nothing more than MORE POWER but because they've marketed it as "4ThePlayers" and actually got the name out there it's sold. Same with XB1 which quite clearly has a direction of what it's supposed to be without being all that impressive. |

| From what I've read, it sounds about right. Especially the bit at the end.
On the subject, here's an episode of the CVG podcast where they not only defend the Wii U, but (inspired by me) deal with that silly generation rubbish. |

It's mostly the last two paragraphs that are important part & how that Nintendo are no where near in the state that Sega were so comparisons of wii U "doing a Dreamcast" or any such nonsense is completely unfounded & stupid. |

| Is it really forgetfulness though? As the article points out there seems to be a certain majority that would be happy to see them go bust, it's just bizarre. |

| I find it odd you never see these sentiments about Sony. (For example you never see "Sony should go third party. Tearaway would be much more successful if it was a 3DS game".)
Anyway, here's some more depressing UK sales news. (Then again, UK hates Nintendo - even the 3DS does badly here compared to the rest of Europe.)
Lifetime to date software sales
Wii U - 650k Xbox One - 475k PS4 (pre-launch) - 75k
