| Early opinions of Civil War are in and they're incredibly positive it seems http://bgr.com/2016/04/11/captain-america-civil-war-early-reviews/
Most interesting is the fact that Spidey seems to play a much bigger part than the trailers would suggest, really hyped for this now. |

| Well they've established the characters already and are giving them actual character motivations to fight, so they're already worlds away from BvS. |

| Civil war is bigger then that, well comic wise anyway. In the comics Spidey plays a big part.
In fact I want to go find my copy and read it again |

| I much preferred Civil War as individual comicbooks, rather than the graphic novel format. At the time, it was everywhere across loads of Marvel books: Spider-Man, Iron Man, Cap, the Fantastic Four, everyone had Civil War stuff going on in their book. When you read the collected book of just CW, it feels a little rushed to me. Still good stuff, just not as impactful. |

| So someone saw Civil War! 1-icon review: - Captain America: Civil War film:
Firstly, assume that I liked everything. Everything. Criticisms include:
1) For a Captain America film, it sure felt like an Avengers film by the back door.

| Yeah, just watched your Civil War. Brilliant film. - Spoiler:
It was an almost entirely different story from Civil War the comicbook, but that's no bad thing. I disagree with all the people saying it didn't feel like a Cap film. It was a pretty direct sequel to Winter Soldier.
The obvious comparison is to Batman vs Superman. It was actually closer to that than it was to Civil War the book; this wasn't a fundamental disagreement leading to an all-out conflict in a world of superheroes, this was a single fight and it was more to do with a specific villain/ character, and a non-powered Avenger worried about the dangers of unchecked superheroes.
It did everything so much better than the DC film, though. All the characters were characters: they made decisions and acted based on motivations that made sense. Where BvS saw the fight break up nonsensically because the heroes mums had the same name, here the final battle ensued because one of them killed the other one's mum, and Iron Man's subsequent rage was believable and in fitting with his character.
Other things:
loved Spidey! A shame to go back even younger again, but this guy seems like a good fit. I do hope that one day Peter Parker is actually allowed to grow up on celluloid. Ant Man was top, and it was only on the way home I realised how sad the ending was: after everything he went through in the first film, here he is a fugitive again and unable to see his daughter. Falcon and Bucky bickering over who gets to be Cap's sidekick in a weird superhero love triangle was ace.
Overall: |

| On the other hand it means we can get an algorithm to do all of our film reviews with the minimum of fuss. |

| Fant4stic was a film with a lot of potential and some really good bits, it just lost half the film somewhere along the line. Something BvS also suffered from to some degree, but that also added crap Lex |

| This seems as good a time as any to ask, captain america 3 worth watching if you've never seen the previous two, haven't seen the second two Iron man movies, and haven't seen avengers 2?
And in contrast, would it be enjoyable after watching all of those? All the hype is getting to me and I want to watch it, but I've been out of the loop with marvel movies since phase 1's end |

| Tough question. Overall the answer is 'yes', but your enjoyment will be enhanced if you see Cap 2 and Avengers 2 first. The others you mention won't make too much of a difference. In my humble, unsubtle and often wrong opinion, of course. |

| I would say no. Civil War is a pretty direct sequel to the events of CA2 and A2, so without them it will seem a bit... out of nowhere? I don't know how to describe it.
That said, if you watch it as a Spidey film, you'll know as much as he does and enjoy the best bit, so maybe just do that. |

| Just saw X-Men and I did enjoy it, however: - Spoiler:
Quicksilver felt totally out of place, the film seemed like it was made by a team that didn't know how they wanted to pitch the series, it felt like it flicked back and forth between humour from Qs & Nightwing to the normal seriousish tone so hard I had comedy whiplash.
Secondly, Sophie Turner, is she a dislikeable actress? I've never liked her in thrones and she seemed equally irritating here, people give ol' Scott Summers a hard time, but she was a whole new level of annoying, right?

| Last night I watched X-Men. I just need to get through X-Men 2, X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men: First Class, The Wolverine and X-Men: Days of Future Past before I go and see X-Men: Apocalypse the week after next.
It's still a really good film. Looking at what the superhero genre has become since this film's release, the relatively minor scale is actually quite nice. 4 or 5 goodies, a few baddies, a plot driven by actual characters and some easy-to-understand stakes. I don't even dislike the portrayal of Cyclops that much any more- I actually think Wolverine comes across as more of a knob, even if he is the Point of View character. |
