| Cyclops was my favourite as a kid, but there's a habit in more recent stuff to deliberatley overplay Cyclops being an uptight prick so Logan looks cooler. |

| Cyclops is stiff, Wolverine is angry - I don't really like either of them, to be honest. Nightcrawler was always my favourite. I also like Alan Cumming, so I was delighted when that all came together - and sad when it never happened again. |

| I'm sure that will be exactly what it appears to be, and not an easily ammended cliffhanger, or a quickly retconned misstep, or a misdirection the hero is using to fool a baddy, or a villain in disguise, or a parallel universe, or mind alteration, or time travel trickery... I mean, why would comicbook fans get annoyed about a storyline that's still in progress unless they knew this sort of thing always turned out to be what it said on the tin? |

| The uproar over this is almost as funny as when Octavious body swapped Petey "permanently" replacing a few years back! People that have never so much as touched a comic book always seem to love whining their not-so-pretty lil' heads off whenever one of these twists happen |

| Yeah the Doc Ock thing wasn't the worst thing they've done to ol Spidey, to me the "One more Day" arc is the worst thing they've done.
As for Cap apparently that's actually him, no decoys or anything like that. |

| I'm actually really looking forward to when I get to the Superior Spider-Man arc, it sounds like a huge ball of fun!
Omd on the other hand, well, lets just say I'm never going to read either it or the Brand New Day era for a reason. Honestly what they did with the whole MJ marriage still pisses me off, it was such a slap to the fans! |

| Superior Spider-Man was really fun, and while OMD was an awful move, there were some good stories afterwards. I think Spidey and MJ are back together, post Secret Wars. - Athrun888 wrote:

That's what I was getting at; anyone who actually reads comicbooks knows these things aren't what they claim to be. Spider-man didn't stay retired, Superman didn't stay dead, or split in half, and he didn't kill Jimmy Olson. - shanks wrote:

Whichever explanation they didn't specifically mention is what's going on. |

| Just watched The Wolverine! That was a blast! Story wasn't exactly revolutionary, and the final boss was sorta kinda a huge "eh?" moment, but eh, who the f*** cares about that s*** in a Wolverine film? We want action, we want slicing and dicing, we want people being called bub! And we got all of that, with a beautiful backdrop! Didn't quiet get a good enough look, but - Spoiler:
Wolverine's claws are the bones again now
right? And that lead-in to Days of Future Past at the credits! I suppose I should be a bit annoyed over the hand-waving of Xavier magically being alive, but eh, I doubt I'm alone in hating X-3 for doing to him what it did! Fun action flick, nothing amazing, but very fun! As for post-SW Spidey-MJ, isn't MJ currently in Iron Man or something? I do know there was a arc in Secret Wars where she and Peter were together and had a kid though! Been tempted to pick that up outside of order for a while now |

| The secret wars thing was an alternate timeline / universe type of thing where they were still happily married. But yeah at the moment as Tony broke her club he offered her a job as the new Pepper so to speak so she's well yeah being Pepper |

| It would be if they undo One more day um one day. But apparently according to the demon (in the latest Deadpool/ Spidey) that may not happen as Peter is destined to feel empty |

| Just finished Days of Future Past! Hoo boy that was f***ing awesome! A ton of great character moments and awesome action, as far as I'm concerned this movie wasn't just top tier for super hero movies, but flat out a top tier movie! Loved the way it was a sequel to both the present timeline and first class at the same time.
Too bad Apocalypse is sposed to be pretty meh, that end credits teaser looked awesome!
As for Peter-MJ, at this point I'm convinced they're just trolling fans
And yeah, that train fight on The Wolverine was great, one of the highlights of the movie for sure! |

| I've heard pretty mixed things about Apocalypse, but overall I'm avoiding everything until I've seen it. It's unlikely to be worse than Batman V Superman, unlikely to be better than Captain America: Civil War. I'm sure it'll be good fun, though. |

| X-Men 2 Re-watched this one as part of my X-Marathon. I always remember this as being a phenomenal film, and it holds up. Great character stuff, really cool set-pieces and that Nightcrawler opening is still incredible. Like the first film, it still feels quite low-key and tame compared to the more recent superhero stuff. There are only one or two moments where two or more super-people fight eachother. The phoenix stuff at the end got me so psyched for X-Men III.
About that... |

| Finished rereading Ultimate Spider-Man vols 17 and 18, Clone Saga and Ultimate Knights. The former was, as you'd expect with a title like "clone saga", the Ultimate universe's own spin on that arc. Someone clones a bunch of Peter sending his life in to a spin as Nick Fury decides to bring them, and Peter himself, in. Ultimate Knights is a fun romp for the first three issues, with Ultimate Daredevil recruiting a bunch of other street level super heroes to take down Kingpin. Naturally it all goes pear shaped when Moonknight's new personality designed to be a mole in Fisk's goon squad overtakes the rest of them and kidnaps Peter.
While not as strong as the first six volumes, which were, imo, the best in the series (definitely not my childhood nostalgia talking there, nope!), the two volumes continue the upward trend the series started with sixteen. Up next: S*** getting real with moar Osborn goodness in Death of a Goblin!
Seriously though one thing I've always loved about Ultimate Spider-man is how connected Norman and Peter were from their very origins, a bit like the first movie only far more epic! |

| I haven't read that much Ultimate Spider-man, but I like Peter's relationship with Norman in the main universe as well- starting as a cold adversary and becoming something more personal through their battles.
In the last couple of days, I've watched
X-Men: The Last Stand Not the worst film ever made by any standards, this just suffered from some poor editing, unfortunate scheduling clashes and scenes forced in for shock value only to be overwritten. The central stories, about the cure and Phoenix, were handled fairly well.
and
X-Men Origins: Wolverine Someone tried to make a really good film here; a personal story about Logan. Then the studio got involved. "It can't have any blood! Shoehorn these mutants in! Nah, don't worry about what the comics and previous films have established, we can make it up as we go along!" Watching it just made me glad we did eventually get the Deadpool film we got. |

| X-Men: First Class
Still a good'n. In fact, Origins is probably the only bad X-Men film. This one does a really good job of the 60s setting, and makes a fantastic effort to get into the heads of Xavier and Magneto. Wonderful stuff, doesn't quite feel as good as X-Men 2 but that might just be down to the fact that when this released, superhero fatigue was beginning to set in. |

| Finished a pile of Ultimate Spider-man over the last few days, starting with Death of a Goblin.
This one was a good one, Osborn breaks out of shield's holding facility due to his cellular structure evolving to bypass their measures, but rather than stick the screws in to Peter like he usually does he had a different target this time: Nick Fury. He planned to bury Nick Fury in the media.
I won't go in to spoilers, but suffice to say A Goblin does indeed die by the end of the volume, and as the norm with Osborn a big emotional end.
Volume 20 was And His Amazing Friends, a chill volume in contrast to the previous ones, with Liz finding out she has mutant powers, some cool cameos from Iceman and Johnny Storm, as well as Magneto and the X-men squad as she tries to figure things out. The last two issues of the book were a fun and not-so-fun romp. The former: Peter's class task was to look after a toy baby, with us finding out how the thing didn't just get ruined, but turned in to a charred heap of plastic. Hint: It involved Omega Red and an assault on the Daily Bugle's JJJ! The last was Shocker for once in his life actually achieving something as a villain and kidnapping Peter, which was about as fun for Peter as being chained up by a maniac with a device for electrocution would be.
Volume 21, finally hitting brand material for with War of the Symiotes. Probably not going to surprise anybody to know this one was the return of Eddie Brock and his Venom Symbiote. A good romp, the constant swapping of time got a tad disorienting at times, but otherwise it was good. And the fate that awaited Eddie after the crap he pulled was particularly funny (in a macabre way).
Mark Bagley left at the end of volume 18, Stuart Immonen took over duties for the rest of the series before the post-Ultimatum rebrand. For the first volume (Death of a Goblin) I feel his people weren't up to snuff, but his action scenes were fantastic. As of 20 though things got a bit better on the real people front and I have no complaints.
So, up next is volume 22, Spidey's involvement in the chaos caused by the much maligned Ultimatum event and final volume before the rebrand to Ultimate Comics!
First Class was good, my only minor complaint was the underutilization of Emma Frost, although that only really became an issue when she got killed off between two movies |

Well I mainly want to read death of a Goblin again, mainly as even though it was kinda sad it was still a good story |
