| Progress - beat two more bosses, one in No Man's Wharf with the help of Lucatiel and the Sentinels in Lost Bastille with a player summon and the mage NPC too. Speaking of Lost Bastille... - Spoiler:
THOSE KAMIKAZE ENEMIES CAN FUCK RIGHT OFF
Also had my first taste ever of Dark Souls co-oping - helped some poor souls out with the boss in the Cathedral of Blue. |

| It makes you feel good, doesn't it? Praise the sun! (As for the spoiler enemies best dealt with a range weapon) |

Two-hand a halberd, if ever you have trouble with normal enemies on DS2, Two-hand a halberd. |

| Decided to bugger the Lost Bastille for now and try the Huntsman's Copse. So far, so good! Question - how's my build looking? Any obvious glaring faults? - Spoiler:
Level - 48 Vigor - 17 Endurance - 13 Vitality - 15 Attunement - 4 Strength - 20 Dexterity - 11 Adaptability - 12 Intelligence - 3 Faith - 6
Weapon - Bastard Sword + 6 Shield - Drangleic Shield Head - Heide Knight Iron Mask + 2 Chest - Alva Armour + 4 Hands - Leather Gloves + 2 Legs - Drangleic Leggings Rings - Chloranthy Ring, Ring of Blades, Stone Ring, Covetous Serpent Ring + 1. Cycle out Chloranthy for Ring of Restoration if hurt or if I'm hollowed Ring of Binding.
Planning to pump points into VGR, VIT, END and ADP to 20/25, then level STR. Not bothering with magic. Any tips?

| Looks fine to me, perhaps a few more into adaptability? Also I wouldn't worry too much about reinforcing your armour as the base stats are usually fine & the souls/ore could be used more for your stats/weapons.
Don't know what other weapons you can use but it's also good to have a back up or something different like the halberd. |

| I'm trying out the Claymore - really liking its thrust attack, great for keeping enemies at bay. I see what you mean now about bosses being easier - I beat the previous three bosses I faced (named in spoiler below) and they didn't seem particularly difficult either. A question: - Spoiler:
Doors of Pharros - what on earth is up with this area? I was summoned to other people's worlds over and over. Really don't know what's going on there.
On another note - invisible enemies in the Shaded Woods... scared the shit out of me walking through there.
Managed to take out the Skeleton Lords, Scorpioness Najka (with the help of Manscorpion Tark) and the Magus and his congregation (with Benhart of Jugo, who basically soloed the Magus) on my first attempt. Progress!

| Nah, had no such rings on. I was summoned to another player's world, except the enemies I had killed in that area were alive and aggroed to me, and the player was also looking to kill me. I didn't lose anything from it, as I was a phantom, but really perplexed me.

| Ah, you know about the bell-ends yet now you have encountered something even worse... - Rat-arsed covenant:
So, what you are experiencing Jay, is another PvP covenant which is simply unavoidable in the 'Doors of Pharros' area. The only way to stop being summoned to other worlds is to beat the optional area boss. This is not easily done.
Also, that build you posted has nearly identical equipment to my champion covenant character. Bastard Sword is ace. I think I am using the Vagarian helm rather than the Heide mask. I would always keep the Chloranthy ring on. |

| Ahhhh, I figured it would be something along those lines. Well... (spoilerish stuff up to half way through Iron Keep ahead) - Spoiler:
I reached the bonfire right outside the boss room of Doors of Pharros, but he is one bloody tough fucker! I've not made any progress towards beating him, so I reckon I'll wait till I'm better equipped.
I changed my build somewhat - now using Alonne Knight Leggings and the shield you can buy from the blacksmith in Lost Bastille, and Jester Gauntlets too (love the passive ability of extra souls - means I can swap out the Covetous Silver Serpent's ring.
Also, in PROGRESS news, I beat the two bosses in Earthen Peak and managed to beat the first boss in Iron Keep thanks to Lucatiel (definitely this game's Solaire, right?) and a sunbro who despite wearing NO armour whatsoever, blasted the boss with some crazy spells. I also cheesed my way through both Belfrys due to the fact From's servers were down when I decided to do them. Belfry Gargoyles was a clutch battle - used all 9 of my Estus Flasks getting through it.

| Not summoned many NPCs (just jester Thomas for the Mthya fight) as I usually go for my fellow sun bros if they're about. Oh the last time I played I tried the pursuers ultra great sword & I was awful with it which reminds me I've not played this for about a week now so I must get back to it. |

Wasn't he great? I pretty much tanked whilst he wrecked Mytha's shit. Also, I heard summoning NPCs - at least NPCs that actually exist in the world - is important for advancing their sidequests. Case in point - when I met Pate after summoning him for the Last Giant, he gave me his armour set as thanks. |

Case in point - when I met Pate after summoning him for the Last Giant, he gave me his armour set as thanks. Jester Thomas is definitely the new Iron Tarkus, I've only been following about 3 NPC stories so far. ---- DSII adventures: - Spoiler:
So I made it to the gutter today aka funtown 2.0 love how it forced you to use the torch mechanic but apart from huntsman copse it's the one area that felt like true dark souls to me. Unless I missed more of the area I found it odd that it didn't have a boss which brings me to the point of how areas in DSII just seem smaller compared to DS, in fact seems like some areas could easily not have names but just be a continuation of that specific area. (Gutter/black gulch etc)
In other news I reallocated my pts so I can now use the black knight great sword :)anyhow maybe I'm just nitpicking with the area stuff as I still really love it.

| What NPC stories are you following? I've finished Creighton and Pate's story, and I'm following Benhart and Lucatiel's stories. - Spoiler:
I actually quite liked the Gutter. I was pretty OP and wrecked most things in a hit, but as you said it isn't a long area whatsoever. Fuck the Black Gulch though. By the by, there's more to the Black Gulch than first seems. There's a very easily missed area in Black Gulch. Look carefully.

| It's seems I miscounted I'm following the stories of the same folk as you. (Might actually have to go pay pate a visit to make sure I spoke to him fully) - Spoiler:
I liked the gutter sort of came off that I didn't there, like yourself I was killing most things in one hit died mainly by falling down small gaps in the walkways, I sort of miss not knowing how a souls game works.

| Pate and Creighton's stories are intertwined. I can give you a non-spoilery walkthrough of sorts if you'd like. Don't look if you don't want to though, natch. - Spoiler:
Pate's in Forest of the Fallen Giants, but once you clear the ambush nearby him or die in it, he'll give you the soapstone then fuck off. You'll next find him in Earthen Peak. To get him to move on, you need to get some treasure upstairs from where you find him. It's across a tricky jump and there's a flame sorceress there if I recall correctly. Once you've got that treasure, you can drop down for another one and a shortcut back to Pate. Talk to him again, exhaust his dialogue, and he'll move on. Creighton. Firstly, you need to free him from a locked hut with a bonfire in it in Huntsman's Copse. I can't remember where the key is. Talk to him, exhaust his dialogue, and he'll move on to the crossroad bonfire in Shaded Woods. Talk to him there, exhaust his dialogue, and he's off. You'll next find both Creighton and Pate in Brightcove Tseldora, and here you're faced with a choice... - Quest End Spoilers within:
You have to choose whether to side with Creighton or Pate, and kill the other.

| Finished the story of Pate/Creighton & it was brilliant! - My Story choice :
killed Creighton after I watched them duke it out for a while....probably the wrong choice looking back but I got some nice loot out of it. (How can ye kill the awesome Peter Serfinowicz?)
Really enjoyed the boss of the black gulch & the areas after that were great especially brightstone, I summoned a fellow sun bro for a boss here but he either disconnected or just didn't come through the fog with me, luckily I had Benhart with me & we tore the boss to shreds. I've now maxed my bastard sword to +10 & shall be returning to sinners rise the next time I play. (Left it initially after being scared off by the waist high water ) |

| - Pate/Creighton:
I murdered Pate because he already gave me his loot from beating the Last Giant with him. I think there's no "wrong" choice here - they're both cunts. Just Pate is voiced by Darth Maul, which makes him somewhat cooler.
I'm not keen on Brightstone, mainly because the lower areas are a bit cheap - lots of casters. I enjoyed the village at the start though! And yeah, the Prowling Magus fight, right? It's one of the few fights where I felt sorry for the boss - me and Benhart just laid waste to them. I'm rocking a Bastard Sword+10 and a lightning Claymore+10. I got a lot of chunks from bellending for ages - I felt somewhat guilty, but when you get a chunk every time you kill a trespasser and the summons are SO frequent... Sinner's Rise isn't too bad - just keep your eyes peeled for those exploding mummies from before. Also, protip - you might want to beat the Belfry Gargoyles and nab a key from the Belfry Luna. It'll make your trip to Sinner's Rise much easier. How many Great Souls do you have now Jas? My progress: - Spoiler:
I cleared out Castle Drangleic today! Honestly, the hardest bit was the room full of Ruin Sentinels - nasty surprise, that.
Twin Dragonriders was probably the laziest boss design yet, and I couldn't believe how quickly the archer fell in that fight.
Looking Glass Knight went down on my first try - Benhart really is a solid motherfucker.
In the Shrine of Amana now - loving the atmosphere here, but the water and ENDLESS CASTERS make this area a pain to traverse. Oh, and its frog fuck boss can fuck off.

| Aye it was the prowling magus fight, I'll be looking to max out my black knight sword next so I'm on the hunt for twinkling titanite now not sure if those bugs drop them in this game but they always seem to escape from my grasp.
Cheers for the tips & I think I have 2 great souls now. |

Twinkling is pretty scarce until a bit later on from where you're at just now. I'm only just beginning to happen upon lots of it. |

| Third great soul GET! You were right about sinners rise & it was made even easier with Lucatiel helping out, how interesting is the lost sinner armour (moslty the helm & hand shackles) set? After that I got really lost & pottered about the forest of giants for an hour trying to kill those flame spewing lizards which was a quick way to lose some souls. Anyhow finally made it to Dangliec castle. - Castle entrance spoiler :
some troll had a message behind the emerald herald telling folk to backstab her, what an evil bastard.

| Hang on, don't you need all four Great Souls to get to Drangleic Castle? Still, that opening vista is GORGEOUS. Had to screenshot it when I first arrived. Really affirmed to me the idea that Dark Souls is essentially the perfect 3D Castlevania game. Ah, those fucking salamanders. I'd recommend dropping down from the room below the Cardinal's Tower instead of going through the Iron Keep door - you can snipe the first salamander then cheese the rest with poison instead of getting bumrushed. Did you use the Bastille Key to light up the Lost Sinner's room? Makes the fight so much easier, right? As for your spoiler: - Spoiler:
Surely people would realise that you don't kill your source of levelling up?
And I made some more progress! I killed three more bosses - all very creative, if not entirely challenging fights - and received an item which lets me get through those doors which require the king's seal that you might have ran into on your travels. I can't say anything else without getting into spoilery territory, but I'm looking forward to you catching up so I can discuss the later areas - they really are superb. |
