| It depends on what type of weight you like to be at but mostly I'd go with a mixed set, on my way to platting it I was using Velstadt helm & chest, dark gauntlets/leggings which is quite heavy but due to stats I was medium roll.
For full sets I quite liked Judgement or the black set that Straid wears. |

| I used the Faraam Set late-game, but I mainly used the Alva set, which you can buy from the merchant in the house at Majula after you've spent a certain number of souls with him. You'll know when you can buy it off him because he'll be leaning back in his chair and he'll be acting like a dick. |

| Dark Souls III looks gorgeous, but so far it looks very Dark Souls. I'm hoping there's lots of surprises they've not shown yet that are gonna blow our minds. |

| I'd disagree that it looks "very Dark Souls" - I see a lot more of Bloodborne in there. I think this is going to be a great balance between the speed of Bloodborne and the methodical nature of Dark Souls. |

| I with Jay on this one as I've seen plenty of people online make the bloodborne comparison, oddly some even using it in a negative way. |

| Not necessarily the gameplay, just the world and the story. Crumbling castles, tragic beasts, zombies, ash... I love it, but I hope I'll be surprised in a way I haven't been by Souls 2. This is Miyazaki's conclusion to the story that made him the man he is today, I'm hoping it'll get under my skin the way Dark Souls did.
In terms of actually playing it, whether it is like DeS, DaS, DaSII or BB, it will be an absolute dream to play. They've not made a bad game yet. |

I reckon it will, to take BB as an example after platting it & despite loving it I felt it wasn't close to giving me the same feeling that DaS did but now as I make my way through the DLC for BB it's inching ever closer to the same level. EDIT: The collectors editions looks fucking amazing! http://www.videogamer.com/ps4/dark_souls_3/news/dark_souls_3_release_date_set_for_april_12_collectors_editions_revealed.html |

| DONE IT - Things I did wrong (a shorter list than that of the sequel):
Accidentally hit the merchant in the Undead Burg, which is not exactly what you want that early on in the game Walked past the junction to Darkroot Basin about 50 times (damn you doubling-back) Also thought I'd been all the places in Darkroot Garden, and missed the butterfly room for ages Never found the guy that sells the Master Key Killed Quelaag's sister's servant, because he wouldn't let me in Bothered going to the Great Hollow and Ash Lake (WTF guys?) Used the Fire Keeper Soul that was supposed to go back to Firelink Shrine (it was during the Ornstein and Smough mire, where I needed all the help I could get) Didn't know Gwynevere was a hologram (because why would you?) Worked out how the Skull Lantern works, about 60 hours into the game Didn't save Solaire (but... come on, having since read that up... I know it's Dark Souls, but...)
Many thanks to Messrs Moyles, Stewart, Summerhayes et al for putting up with my "it's too hard" whines. On that though: People all say the first one is better, having started with that one. Maybe I'm not so sure because I played DS2 first. - Ooh - the rest of this should be in a spoiler for those who haven't finished DS2:
I can certainly appreciate that the locations and baddies are more varied (you can see cut'n'paste ideas in the sequel), and probably the instantly-available-bonfire warping is a bit cheaty. However, being hollow in DS1 didn't feel as much of a burden as it did in DS2, with its health decrease. And having people actually stay around in Majula was nice - I know it's supposed to be bleak, but it's nice to have a bit of a break.
So... I dunno... they're both some of the Best Games of All Time! |

Yay! Congratulations buddy! I need to get on with DSii now... - Things:
Thought I'd been all the places in Darkroot Garden, and missed the butterfly room for ages Yep, I did the same thing for ages. Killed Quelaag's sister's servant, because he wouldn't let me in I did that on the first playthrough where I got that far. Bothered going to the Great Hollow and Ash Lake (WTF guys?) Not much there, but a beautiful look at the primordial world and the setting for Sigmeiyer's tragic conclusion. Didn't know Gwynevere was a hologram (because why would you?) I've still not seen all this for myself in game. Crazy stuff, mind! Worked out how the Skull Lantern works, about 60 hours into the game Never used that... Didn't save Solaire (but... come on, having since read that up... I know it's Dark Souls, but...) i wanted the light up hat to do the depths so I did end up saving my boy!
On two, I did two great lords in a row yesterday but now I'm having a grim time in the iron keep. |

| Actually, scratch that. Smelter Demon dead, big fiery sword obtained. I also killed the pursuer who appears. Quite like these guys, they were a bugger at the start, but s nice fair fight at this point.remind me of the first games black knights. |

| Update! Killed the Old Iron King! After the grief the Smelter Demon gave me, his daddy was a pussycat. Looking like a demon from a much less interesting game, and sat in an arena fit for Bowser, he didn't kill me once with his attacks. I did, however, die multiple times from forgetting there was lava at the back of the platform and falling off. This includes a particularly stupid moment when, since I'd turned human anyway to top my health up, I called in an online player who'd left a summon sign by the bonfire. Thanks for trying to help, Joose IZZ loose, and I hope my stupidity gave you a chuckle.
Anyway, that's all four souls. I'm off to the castle! Well, actually I'm off to bed. The tomorrow, I'm off to work in the morning and Sheffield in the afternoon. I guess I'll go to the castle next week... |

| Honestly, the Smelter Demon is DSII's lamest boss. His constant fire aura means it quickly becomes a matter of "can I kill you really quickly before you wear me down just by being close to me". If you got past him, you're rolling. And congrats to Jimbob! Praise the sun and whatnot. |

| So, I'm approaching the end of Dark Souls II. I've done all the giant memories and I'm wondering about, generally tidying up. I think I'm going to try to do all three DLC areas before I finish things off, as I a) don't want it to end just yet and b) don't see myself doing a second run.
I've turned around on the game quite a bit. I still don't think it is as good as the first, but I'm starting to appreciate it for the differences instead of hating them. I'll have a lot to say about it when I'm done. |

| Looking forward to hearing how you find the DLC, I do wonder if the fact I left it so long is the biggest problem, though I am convinced the enemy placement is pretty poor. |

| I've been unimpressed with enemy placement a couple of times, to be honest. I feel like they used the exhaustable respawns as a crutch. |

| This toothy dragon thing kept trying to wack me with its head until I gave it a good kicking. It was kind enough to leave me a key, although I rather wish it had kept hold of it. The residents of Blight Town lack courtesy. |
