When I got to the undead parish I pretty much missed all of it and went straight to the depths and kept going down. Yeh, im on Sir now and it's the first challenge I've encountered in ages.

Is Blight Town worse than the Gutter in DSII? Admittedly, I did that "route" before some of the others, which probably wasn't sensible, but meandering around / up / down a dimly lit maze for about 5 hours was almost breaking point for me. In fact I missed the jump into Black Gulch because I thought it was a trap.

That's a tough one because the gutter as you pointed out is mainly difficult to progress through due to the lack of light in certain areas & I found being poisoned in DSII less annoying compared to the previous game.......I think blight town takes it though due to the enemies that can hit you with Toxic darts.

Do you mean Sen's? I'm presuming autocorrect jumped in here, or I've totally forgotten about an area.

Jimbob: The Gutter's probably easier than Blighttown, all told. As far as I can recall, there's no toxic at play in The Gutter, whereas there's several toxic dart lobbing bastards throughout Blighttown. Also, there's framerate issues in Blighttown on consoles, which only really exacerbate the problem.

The only other thing I thought he might be on about was Sif.

Oh, makes more sense! Yeah, I struggled with Sif as well - I had to leave and revisit him after I was stronger.

Yeh, I meant Sif. Once I got underneath him it actually ended up being quite easy. It wasn't emotionally easy though! I felt like a git killing such a noble creature.

I'm not very good at knowing where the game expects me to be going. I was mucking about in Darkroot, got the Crest of Artorius, went down to New Londo... All this time, I'd missed the bell tower in the Undead Parish. Went back and killed the gargoyles like it ain't no thing and now I have Sen's Fortress to contend with.

His death animation is even worse Sad and he's the only boss in Dark souls that didn't make me punch the air in glee when I defeated it.

But that's the beauty of the game - you can easily blunder about in other areas and still accomplish things. How've you found Sen's so far? Twisted Evil

Sen's is the most videogamey Souls has felt so far. It's not super frustrating, but it is definitely a bit harder than what I was doing beforehand. I didn't really get to game yesterday or so far today but I'm going to sit down for a real session later.

Sen's is a difficulty spike, I reckon. It's especially difficult if you miss the bonfire in that area, which is apparently really easy to do.

I guess that's why they decided to lock it up until you achieve certain conditions, imagine first time players stumbling into there? The folk who say that Dark souls wants to kill you over and over would be proven right if it wasn't.

See, you say that, but then there's the whole fact that it's so easy to stumble into the Catacombs early on. Laughing

Touché

Though it amazes me that folk could find the tiny set of steps down into there, I dabbled a little with the skeletons in the graveyard in the beginning but I never seen the path downwards until I had to go there.

I'm really, really loving Dark Souls right now. I beat Sen's (with its weirdly easy boss) and stepped into the gorgeous Anor Londo.
Unfortunately, for some reason my game is glitching out and crashing like a motherfucker whenever I try to play it offline and I have no broadband until Friday. It's making me seriously want to start a fight.

Did you bring the NPC summon into the Iron Golem fight? He can pretty much solo the boss. Laughing
