Your actual top 10/20/25/50/100/200 games - have you ever?

Can't believe the site doesn't have box art for Bishi Bashi Special. Disrespecting the greats.

Much though Cappa and I seem to disagree on a fair few games these days, there's seven games there that would make my top 30 too. More that unites us etc.

I think there's a really good chance that you'll enjoy Hogs of War, especially seeing as you've put a Worms game on your own list. I'm never confident about recommending NiGHTS, I've had bad experiences with that in the past. WarioWare Twisted can't be straightforward to emulate and it's an expensive and rare cartridge too - you'd maybe best getting the WarioWare Gold collection if you've got a 3DS, because that includes many microgames from Twisted (and all the others).

Long picture ahead!!! I made a top 50 that I'm not even sure of myself, it already contradicts some of my Switch vote from earlier this year, probably a lot of recency bias too but I've gone with gut feeling on this one.

Nice list, we've got a 11 in common, then stuff like Okami which isn't in my overall Top 50 is in my Top PS2 games list that I do think it's a quality game and a few others from yours which if I was doing a Jimbob and ranking every game I've ever played would be in the top bunch.

I absolutely could not do what Jimbob has done, took me long enough just to decide on these although I'd love to be able to give a shout out to so many more than just these, think I managed a 51 and 52 as well and there's a few notable games that have crossed my mind that aren't in there, I'll have to do Top 10/20s for some other consoles too.

Smurf there with the LONG LONG MAN of top gaming pictures. Honestly I thought I liked putting together lists, but y'all are putting me to shame these days! That's a cracking list too Smurf, obviously we're not going to agree on everything but I've got a lot of time for that selection. The only game in my top eleven that doesn't make it is Meteos.

In my defence I haven't played Meteos, could be the best game of all time for all I know.

Yeah, but there's probably something wrong with me! Like most of my work projects (stop listening bosses) I take on too much, decide halfway through it was too much, and don't care too much about the accuracy at the end. Also who cares whether something is 413th or 414th? Don't go any further than you have!

I'm a borderline list obsessive and even I wouldn't do a Jimbob - but I do think think 'a Jimbob' is a really impressive thing to do/have done!

I saw with your XC3 review it is now the number 16 on this list, any other changes as did see a few pages on it is now a Top 30 and I would guess XC3 being in this list at 16 that it is the current GOTY and put like 6th on a Switch Top 30.

The answer is: not a lot!  Ghost Trick and Muramasa continue their inexorable climbs in my memory, JRPGs in general continue to drop, Spirit of Justice was probably just a couple of places too high anyway, and we have two new members: yet more JRPGs, it turns out.  XC2 took a battering as a result of XC3 being ace, and obviously my current GotY. Absolutely no contest there!

Seeing other forumites rank their favourite games at the end of past calendar years convinced me to do that for myself in 2022. When gjones introduced ggapp.info to us in the spring, I converted my Word document list into that website’s pictorial format and updated it every so often when I’d finished a handful more games.

Well I looked at it Cappa! Interesting to see World Cup 2010, with its weird plastic-looking fan cut-aways, so near the top.

I've been sad enough to add another column to my spreadsheet showing the release year, in case anyone asks me what my favourite game of 1989 was.

118 in one year! Fair play, I'm glad to see Horace chart so highly, that's a cracking game that doesn't get the props it deserves.

Lots of interesting ones on that list. I only looked at the top and the bottom: what's Under Leaves? Looks vaguely artsy purely going off the cover art. Meanwhile games 116 and 110 are both going to give me nightmares.

I have thoughts about Horace, and I can well believe Cappa would like it more than me. I'll leave it there.

A lot of those games I completed in 2022 were under a couple of hours to be fair, finished over the course of a day or night. I don’t expect I’ll finish that many in 2023. Tears of the Kingdom will likely dominate my gaming for a few months, and I’m intent on reading more books and taking up other hobbies instead of dedicating my free time to whatever mince is on the latest Evercade collection.

I've never played a hidden objects game, but I suspect it's the sort of genre that I'd actually take a guilty pleasure in.

I checked my list. I completed 26 games in 2022, including one replay. 26, vs. 118. Obviously we play very different main genres, but still. That's amazing numbers, couple of hours or no!

Recently both CW and EofGiz have been getting into the Game Mess YouTube/Twitch where Jeff Grub and a Mike have done things like a Top 100 games list. I know EofGiz has done his and as I was halfway done, thought why not add the other 50 games.

It turned out to be super hard as to get my 100 games I went through lists I've already done, every system I've had and looked at the library to see hey is there a 2600 game Top 100 worthy etc which I ended up with 322 games on what I'd maybe consider Top 100 material.

After much deliberation, I came up with this 100 games


Do I think a game in 70th is that much worse than 60th, no! And like I said, I had a list of 322 of games I would consider putting here that I do think I could a top 500 or 1000 easily with stuff that's just okay or whatever, if I wished.

I've downloaded Forza Horizon 4 off the back of this list, as that #13 placing is high-praise indeed. I like a lot of that Top 100, although the Halo and Metal Gear games I've never quite gelled with. One day I'll work through them.

How did you decide on placings, Mas? I can tell you thought about some, but others appear in bunches (Soul Calibur 2, Tekken 3, Soul Calibur), the two Ori games, Jade Empire/Fable/KOTOR. Was it a case of going system by system? I think if I did a Top 100, I'd need to apply a score to each game and whittle it down that way.

Yeah I went NES, SNES, N64 etc and what I'd consider Top 100 games which I ended up with 322 games. Mostly PS4 games made the list, though did have three Jaguar games on the 322 list.

Then I gave them scores to whittle it down to the 100 and then with games on the same score I'd put what I sooner play higher up. This did of course mean some like the fighters to be bunched together.

Will also say Xenoblade 3 has moved up to 54 from 60 since the DLC, Super Mario 3D World has also moved up since I've played Bowser's Fury to 64 from 70 and Forza Horizon 5 has now gone on the list at 66 meaning Super Mario 3D Land is now gone off the list.

I must admit, when you first posted it Mas I thought, that's just too much for me to absorb and take in. I still kind of think that. It's still impressive that you were able to put it together though (not Jimbob impressive but still impressive), and clearly it helped GJones.

Also it definitely didn't make me start to think of my own hundred-game list, that would be ridiculous.

Think yours might be easier to do as fewer systems, but then I know you still play a lot of games on those systems.
