| New trigger unlocked: people asking why they didn't ride the eagles to Mordor.
Seriously do people just not f***ing pay attention to media they consume? Gah. I could name three very obvious reasons why, and I'm not even a fan of the Tolkien world and am nothing more than a measly movie casual noob. |

| Tfw the plumber who was supposed to arrive between 1 and 4 turns up at 10:45 and moans his way through the hour it takes to replace your toilet, possibly because he trained as a gas engineer and is subcontracting, and when he leaves you go to the supermarket and get caught in a heavy shower without your umbrella and when you get there you can't find the cannellini beans and start to feel a little hypoglycaemic and forget to buy the vegetarian sausages that you need for the tea you're cooking for your wife tonight until you sit in the shop eating a pack of crisps and a chocolate bar and remember.
It's a really specific feeling. |

| This.
And at the risk of angering people, if this does happen I'm very tempted to donkey vote. Sick and tired of the morons and their dumb proxy-wars between the moderates and conservatives, they were voted in to govern for four years, yet have the absolute gall to waste over 100 million tax payer dollars on something they already know. Polls done on this issue by the media all come back conclusively in favour of this, it'd be through parliament literally tomorrow if they put it to a free vote, just f***ing get on with it and stop wasting time and money on a glorified opinion poll that isn't even binding. |

| Had to look up 'plebiscite'. Now I have more knowledge than ever before! It does sound like a legal opinion poll, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. |

| I've absolutely had it with the average pedestrians of this rural hick town. Absolutely and utterly had it. So today there was some sort of fundraiser going on in the center of town, causing a rather long traffic line-up on a road leading from the highway to the main-street. I decide the quickest way to get past it to the shops I'm trying to get to would be to assess the pace of the traffic flow and dart between the cars when there's a good pause (of which there were plenty, the line rarely moved and was like nothing I've ever seen).
So I'm standing on a side of the road carefully assessing things waiting for the time to cross that will see me on the other side of a line-up occasionally having cars let through one by one. Now let me preface this next bit by saying there was nobody else on the street. Anyway, so I'm standing there carefully waiting for my chance/turn to cross, when out of nowhere four adults, and I use the term adults because these were hardly a group of technically-teenagers, come out of nowhere and decide that out of all the places on the entire street, of which there was a good sixty meters of room to asses the traffic to cross, they deliberately move directly in front of me in such a way as to force me to move. Who the f*** even does that?
Suffice to say that I turned the air blue with muttering after crossing myself and reaching the peaceful lonely backstreet I usually use on my walks. What on earth is with the pedestrians in this town? They are honestly the most inconsiderate, clumsy, slothlike people I've ever seen.
And oh yeah, it's definitely just a legal opinion poll in this context. What astounds me is how the PM can't even see the looming disaster this postal vote will bring to him. Say the vote comes back no, a likely result considering it'll be a voluntary postal vote, what then? The issue doesn't just vanish. No, what happens is everyone who wanted it gets angry, and everyone who is indifferent will get angry at the government wasting over a hundred million dollars faffing around, while marriage equality may not be an election deciding issue the more the government faffs around the more incompetent they look, and that is an election deciding issue. On top of that several backbenchers have already stated that regardless of the poll result they will be bringing a bill to parliament by December, and it will be veeery interesting to see what happens there. |

| This is a tale of woe that goes back many hours. - Spoiler:
Today we had a man in to fix the pipes in the bathroom, which he said had perished when he fixed the earlier leak that we had in the bathroom. DIGRESSION ALERT: The summer of 2017 will go down in my head as the 'Summer Of Strife'; we had a week without a cooker, which I've talked about on here, and a vicious leak from some pipes in the kitchen which needed an emergency plumber. He had said he would be here between 9 and 10; that was going to be grand, because Jo had had a card saying something had failed to be delivered and was now waiting patiently to be picked up from the sorting office. So, the scene is set. The plumber is coming from south Manchester and texts me at 10-something to say he's stuck in traffic. I go back to reading my book - The Silkworm, by Robert Galbraith - until he arrives, when I seal the cats away and the gent goes about his business. He's finishing up when I think to check the sorting office's opening times: it shuts at 2 on Saturday. It's about 1:25, so there's still time for the 30-minute walk. Once I've paid a not insubstantial sum for the beautiful pipework - he's also upgraded the stoptap under the kitchen sink and replaced the pipe used to plumb the toilet in in the first place, which he said was going to break at any time - I'm out of the house. Outside the church just down the road - which is our Polling Station, when the need arises - I spot a former student whom I bump into regularly of a weekend. We have a small chat and I go on my merry way, still able to get to the sorting office on time. I keep looking at my watch on the walk there, making sure I'm still going to make it. I round the corner at 1:57 with the building only a minute away. I'm going to make it on time! And there's a sign on the door: due to technical difficulties with the computer system, they've shut up shop. On the walk back home, I tread in some chewing gum.

| While that truly is a tale of woe, the last line made me laugh, I'm afraid. Excellent writing, not such an excellent day! Virgin, for all their faults (their many many faults) were good at sending their man around. He turned up in the first hour of his four-hour slot. When does that ever happen? |

| Hoo boy, where do I even begin this time? You'd think that aftre a few days in a city after spending more than a decade in a country town I'd come back with a fresh air and sense of purpose. Nope, because while some of the journey went well a decent portion of it went wrong, on my end specifically.
Lets begin at the root of everything wrong with the trip, the seven hour caoch ride to Adelaide! For the first two and a half hours I had to listen to the ever so lovely tones of the most respectful lovely old woman ever, constantly hacking up her lung right behind my ears. As soon as I got back on and saw someone had nicked my seat I sighed with relief at the excuse to move four seats further back.
Alas the damage had been done, for you see dear old woman was a flu carrier (somehow I doubt I'm the only person who came down with a case of it a couple of days after the trip). So instead of doing anything worth a damn in Adelaide such as explore, see some sights, visit the zoo, ect, I spent most of the time bed-ridden hacking up my own lungs, which is exactly as fun as it sounds.
And no, I made certain to get a seat at the very back of the coach out of everyones way on the return trip. In case you were wondering.
Other things to go wrong include purchasing a video game and, due to a mistake, getting only the case and not the game (awaiting the actual game via mail, I can be patient considering my 3ds is currently occupied), and just generally feeling like I was dying for most of the time there and the first few days back. |

| Edited as might be offensive but basically my dads car has had it's tires slashed by next door who don't work and play loud music all day, and we've asked them to turn it down as we go to work and have to be up like 4am sometimes.
And how the country is a joke. |

| Arghh, that's bad. Sorry to hear that, boss. The family car was keyed a couple of months ago when we had the temerity to park in a slightly different place on our street. I hope the repair is cheap, at least. |

| Yep, problem neighbours are, well, a problem. Possibilities like that is why I never actually contacted the bogans that used to live next to me despite all my windbagging on here about them. Hope you find a solution without things getting worse. The thing I've never got about playing really loud music is, just, what's the point? You won't even be able to hear it properly enough to enjoy it as the sound distorts well before you get to a volume loud enough to become an issue for neighbours. |

| £65 for a new tire.
Contacted the Police but they can't do anything as no evidence (didn't do anything when I had proof someone hit my car) and we've rung are landlord.
You're right Athrun, if my dad didn't say anything this wouldn't have happened but like I said sometimes we have to be up at 4am, so why should we have to not get any sleep because they can't respect their neighbours who's lived here for 11 years and not 2 months. |

| Had my bike nicked the other night while I was in work. They did a real job on it: cut every single lock on the rack and nicked every bike. Had to walk home from work at gone midnight, and walk the next day.
Didn't make me go a classist tory outburst or anything though. |

| Oh I wasn't criticising your decision to ask for some peace (peace and quiet should be a public right protected by law imo), just speaking from some regrettable experiences that people that act like those currently being a problem can be very nasty types. Problem neighbours can be the worst, a public disturbance if left alone and a potentially extremely vicious and vindictive enemy if contacted. |

Don't disagree, to be honest for a second. I'm all for partying and having a good time, but it really isn't that hard to do so while also not being a dick outside of reasonable hours. It'll be less of a thing when socialism takes hold and nobody's forced to get up at stupid o'clock. |

| Aght. Any important calls you might be missing? Or is it simply that, like me, you feel a bit naked without your 'phone, an uncomfortable side-effect of the always-connected nature of the 21st century Western world? |

| After I lost my phone last year it felt strangely nice not to have it for a week or so, not that I don't want to go without a phone but it's a nice change sometimes. The lack of Pokemon Go had me feeling a little uneasy though.
