| I'm still unconvinced, there's still so much that's been completely untouched in Kalos it seems incredibly bizarre that they'd - Nitty details:
move on before dealing with it.
Alternatively these could be sequels. Yveltal is depicted as flying in the day sky in the Y opening, ergo sun, and a major Fairy type move is called Moonblast.
Still gen 7 seems more likely despite what I said outside the spoiler, and would definitely explain the sudden Direct after all these months of nothing. There hasn't been a direct since Iwata's tragic passing that hasn't had big announcements, so it'd be strange if this was just for Pokken.
Oh well, at least saturday is going to be a bit interesting now! |

| I saw that when Videogamer tweeted it. I was with the same squad of friends I was planning to watch the Direct with, having a mario kart session, and we got very excited.
I'm editing the Pokécast as we speak, so we can be on record before the Direct goes up. |

After having another look at the Pokemon timeline chart they released a few months - Spoiler:
I'm hedging my bets on gen 7 right now. Third versions, remakes, and sequels were all omitted from the timeline, yet 2016 was highlighted. Also the gaps between each new gen was three to four years, and we're about to hit that gap.
That said there's no reason they can't pull a Gold / Silver and have a Kalos post-game storyline to wrap up the unfinished stuff of the region, and thanks to the Delta episode there's even precedence for a post-game storyline.

| THAT'S IT? THAT'S ALL THERE IS? What a bloody waste of time.
Yeah, I'm going back to "where's my effing Fire Emblem fates release date" mindset now, that was literally, LITERALLY, a waste of time. No footgae whatsoever, no Pokemon reveals of any kind, just "this thing exists" which we already know.
Never mind, rewatched again, so yeah, complete waste of time. |

| I still can't see how you can moan, last week we had no information and no direct, now we do.
They said 3DS late 2016 and the big news is you can send you Pokemon from R/B/Y to the bank then send them to Sun & Moon, I've got know idea how that works due to stats etc but guessing Sun & Moon have been coded to figure out the stats for a Gen I Pokemon.

No we didn't this was literally the announcement of it? The only reason we "already knew" was because it was leaked earlier today. They just announced the new Pokemon game what did you expect from a 5 minutes direct! |

A trailer. A teaser. Something. What they did was make a epic hype trailer, then juuuust as it was about to peak it ended and they started talking boring **** nobody frankly cares about. There's a perfect analogy for what that direct was, alas it's super nsfw so I'll leave it there, but that direct was it exactly. |

| Usually I'm the first to rail against Athrun's pessimism. I think he's absolutely on the money with this one. Never mind the leak: the problem was that it was called a Direct, from which we (or at least I) expect more - MUCH more - than just that. At least three unreleased games, at least two gameplay trailers, is a bare minimum from something that calls itself a Direct, based on past performance. A specialised Direct should at least have a gameplay trailer to show. One new game and no new gameplay falls well below Direct standards.
This was baws. |

| But wasn't much different to the last Pokmon Direct though, and if you went thinking the same as that, then you got plenty.
Also Gen I can Transfer over how is that not a big deal. |

| The one thing that did make me happy out of the whole debacle was somebody in the NL comments pointing out that we now have Pokémon S&M. |

| I think if the Sun/Moon thing hadn't been leaked this dirct (not a complete direct) would have had a much warmer reaction. Although it did do rather well in terms of announcements, SME (Sun/Moon/Eclipse(obviously)) got announced and dated for this year and Red/Blue/Yellow will be compatible with the PokéBank which are both excellent news. I understand some will be annoyed that we saw no footage of SME but with the release so far off I don't think we can expect anything major until late Summer. Not bad for 5 minutes, really. |

| Fortunately the abbreviations tend to just be the first letter of the name. I'll leave this thinker here: No Guard Fissure Machamp. Direct still blew though, and the leak doesn't change that. They could've easily announced via twitter and other social media places they were going to do a celebration video for Pokemon's birthday for youtube and then hinted in those social media tidbits that there would be a small surprise or two in it that everyone should see. The Direct branding inherently implies actual content is going to be shown off, in fact unless memory fails me I'm under the impression Nintendo actually created the Direct system to give us more meaningful content than just a logo and a release window, so directs like this one just feel cheap at best, contrary to the entire point of having them in the first place at worst. Don't get me wrong, I know why they did it this way, I just think they could have handled this a lot better so as to avoid building up expectations while at the same time have the gaming world watching. This is Pokemon and Nintendo after all, they don't need to muddy the brand name of the Directs just to have peoples attention! Anyway, I've had enough of a moan now, still it's better to vent oneself than to bottle it all up I always say! |

| I definitely agree that it was a waste of a direct. Even had it not been leaked a new Pokemon game isn't a shocking or exciting announcement. It's like a CoD or Creed getting announced. |

| I liked it. It was just a little video to celebrate the 20th anniversary, and they announced a new Pokémon Generation. Also, it was called Pokémon Direct, not Nintendo Direct. The Pokémon Company is almost entirely a separate entity these days. Any assumptions you had about Nintendo Directs were your own. Like, jeez guys. Go outside and look at some trees or something. Smile. Have a pint. |

| I'll be honest, I was expecting some actual game footage considering the game's due out at the arse end of the year. Still, I liked the retrospective video and I'm happy enough to wait on gameplay. It's Pokemon - it's hardly going to rock the boat and be a first person shooter or anything. Or a fighting game - that'd be preposterous. |

| Well, it made me happy. And I'm not even a Pokémon fan as such. It was probably a bit brief, because they wanted to say something at the time of the anniversary, ahead of any major milestones on the game. That little montage made me a bit "d'aaaw!", no matter how staged (only Nintendo schmaltz can really do that in the videogame world; you will never see a clip like that about Gears of War). |

| The beginning sent waves of nostalgia through me and the history section made me smile, particularly when I spotted that il y avait des Pokémon français, which was very cool. I am genuinely debating whether or not to start the game (PokéMoon, I choose you!) (Eclipse is a brilliant idea for a third game title, Duckster! ) in French. Also, I bet if you go through the video frame by frame, there will be evidence of new 'mon in there. That said, weird not to see Magearna. As much as I bought into it, though, a part of my brain knows it was one six and a half minute video with effectively (super effectively?) one new product that had been leaked the previous day. More could have been given to the fans. |
