Sorry if it's been done but here's a classic from Pokemon.

I love the way that one starts off all dramatic, and then goes into "fat man walking" mode from 0:50 on. Team Cipher to a t.
It got more epic in the sequel. Which clashed a little with their out-of-battle music.

A bit of mid-week musical fun: does anybody else follow Smooth McGroove? i.e. the a capella chap with the facial hair and the cat? If not, I'd like to acquaint you with some of my favourite of his works:

That range. So jealous.
This would be really annoying... if he wasn't really good at it. Also, bonuss cat for Guile!

Don't make me post the Shadow Temple music again... I'll agree that the Forest Temple was subtler about being incredibly creepy though.

GNamer's MIDI-o Kart Music Week 70:Mario Kart: Super Circuit
It's my thread, and I'll post Super Circuit tracks (ba-dum tish) if I want to. I don't know why exactly I remember its soundtrack better than any other MK's: maybe it was because I was wearing headphones so much when I played it. Whatever, have some pieces.
5. Shy Guy Beach
Calypso. Not much to say here.
4. Cheese Land
I'm not going to pretend that this sounds as good as I remember. Especially not the synthesised mouse sounds. Doesn't stop it getting brilliant at 0:55.
3. Sunset Wilds
Sorry Jay, what was that? I can't hear you over the sound of you being wrong.
2. Rainbow Road
There is no Rainbow Road that doesn't have good music, but this impressed me by doing something completely different. I'd love to have a modern-day remix of this version: I can imagine that 1:11 on would sound great orchestrated.
1. Sky Garden
So, so, wonderfully bouncy and cheerful. Really nice melody. God did they muck up the instrumentation in MKDS, though.

Whilst I've never been particularly enamoured with the game itself, Yoshi's Island had some cracking music, didn't it? The beginning does sound like it's about to lapse into the Song of Storms though.

So much better than the SMW castle theme, although I definitely hear the Song of Storms in there.
Giga Baby Bowser is also pretty nice.

GNamer's Musical Music Week 71: Title Theme, Wii Music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvUGDMxl8OU
I've only ever played this game twice, but the title theme was so charmingly chirpy that I knew I had to include it the first time I heard it. The rest of the game isn't much cop, sadly.

If we're going through the Wii "franchise", I must ask: did Resort have any good tunes? Because if so I can't remember them.
Play had Charge, naturally.

It did, the main theme is rather jaunty, not on the same level as the brilliant original but still good stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eEWxzW2wJU

Oh wow! How could I forget that? It's quite great, especially at the beginning! Substantially less rubbish than the MK7 Wuhu Island theme.

Buskalilly's Wonderful Music Week 72: Theme Song, The Wonderful 101: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1Y_bGyck1E
Ever since Buskalilly posted it at the top of page 11, I knew I'd have to feature this. Don't like the game much, which ranks as one of my great gaming disappointments of 2013 (including Dual Destinies' last case and losing my 3DS), but this song is great. In the words of the great Mr. Summerhayes:

GNamer's Tense Music Week 73: Fate Updated, Ghost Trick: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hw63HniDWE
In general, a lot of the good pieces in GT tend to be a bit too short and underdeveloped for me. Still, this is a great tune for as long as it lasts. Really effective in building up tension.
May as well mention two of my favourite characters too: Mr. .Gif himself, and a top Pomeranian.

I really like the 'turn back time' jingle and the fade-to-black 'end of chapter' music in Ghost Trick. Shame I can't seem to find either of them on YouTube.

SM3DW may well need its own BIG five-tune music week. If so, it'd be the first one on the Wii U.

But if you can't hear him, how do you know he isn't saying something different? Like, "Look out for that out-of-control truck!", or something.

GNamer's One-Week-Late-Vaguely-Topical Music Week 74: Dark World, The Legend of Zelda: a Link to the Past: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BoLT24KcEIY
Let's not pretend that there's a better piece in LttP. It's up there with the Great Sea theme as one of the great overworld themes in Zelda history. As there's so little competition this week, have some alternative versions:
In keeping with the "irritating Jay" theme, here's an a capella version. Cat's in the top-left and top-right;
Smash Bros. version. Hints of erhu or other folksy string instruments;
The relevant bit off the big medley in the CD that came free with SS. The epic is turned up to elev- (gets run over by truck)

That 25th Anniversary version was great! Plenty of bombast, love it.

GNamer's Most Epic Final Boss Music Ever Music Week 75: Final Boss, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCYkpZ5vNrs
Spoiler:
The sound quality's a bit poor in the modern day, but it's still great. When you reach the final boss and this music starts to play... it really feels like the end of the world.
For a much more light-hearted piece that's still great (and annoyingly hummable), here's Thwomp Volcano.
