That's different, I guess. There was apparently a survey which said that 38% of those surveyed (dunno how many - think the publication was the Mirror) didn't know that these elections were coming up. I know that I was deluged with electoral junk mail during the run up to the elections, and don't see what more they could have done really. Telly adverts?

Guys don't worry about it; this happened (to a lesser extent) last time and it acted as a warning. Also it's sort-of ignored that practically as many people jumped ship to another of the main 3 parties.

Well, even though UKIP gained some traction, at least the Tories and BNP lost some. It's all about silver linings, right?

Boo Rummy apart from the UKIP and BNP part.
@Jimbob The Eurosceptic Europe of Freedom and Democracy group appeared to have around 38 seats add in non-attached right-wing MEPs, which will boost the Eurosceptic camp. So we can worry a bit about it. But there is 751 seats, so they can easily get out voted on anything.
The full EU seating is here.

At the risk of saying things that could be interpreted as supporting the party, though- it's possible that people want a different thing from politicians in Europe than they do ones in the UK, so that a belief that UKIP can do the business in Europe may not translate to a belief they can do it in the UK.
Hopefully that's the case - UKIP's actual policies for the UK stink, if that graphic that's been doing the rounds on Twitter is to be believed. There's also bound to be a difference when it's first past the post.

True, and the BNP were removed from European power this time - for which I, at least, am truly thankful. A similar thing happened in France, when the 2002 presidential election was between Jacques Chirac and Le Front National's Jean-Marie Le Pen... although now his daughter is back, and ready to be racist and 'orrible.

I am hopeful that the apathetic will turn out in their droves next time: not to vote for anyone, but to vote against UKIP.

Really saddened to hear about the death of Rik Mayall. Through The Young Ones, The New Statesman and Bottom, amongst many others, he was just brilliant. I can't not pay tribute to his vocal performance in Hogs of War as well - it was impeccable, and a huge contributing factor as to why I go radge about it's brilliance every few days.
What a performer. R.I.P.

Saw that on the Guardian's Facebook page. It was a unnamed spokesman, do is not really a legitimate threat. I might see the film though.
On a related note; I had a dream the other night about Kim Jong Un.
