| The Wii sold more than the Wii U. As far as I'm concerned, it's time to pull out all the stops. Get more sensible advertising out there (the recent sponsoring of the Tour de France was a good idea as it marketed to (presumed) non-gamers but the ads themselves were bad) that shows off all the games. Nintendo are in dire need of a big hitter, like Mario Kart 8 or Wii Fit U (which may shift consoles), and now. That said, I'm fully prepared for Nintendo to 'come third' this generation. In my opinion, the great sales of the Wii masked the fact that third is Nintendo's natural position of the big three. |

| Uhm, I know this is probably a bad idea but why not discontinue the Wii altogether? I mean, it sold 210,000 last quarter most probably because no one is aware of the newer version. So if you kill off the previous one then they'll be bound to realise the Wii U is a thing and buy it instead, right? Finally a ninja emoticon! |

Or possibly download an update that replaces the defunct channels with a large banner trading "THERE IS A NEWER SHINIER THING! GET THE NEWER SHINIER THING!" |

| I was on YouTube, and i sub to IGN. One of there videos was labelled Wii U in Dire State. Basically saying it sold only 160k over 3 months but Nintendo as whole is just doing just fine and aren't going any where but JUST EXPECT TO SEE WII U IN LOCAL BARGAIN BINS *laughs* then goes on about batman having no multiplayer on the Wii U versions. I don't think it helps that mainstream gaming sources take the piss out of it, it comes back to that EDGE cover as well about PS4 being the only console you need. Shouldn't sites like those be impartial. |

| I'm not sure if IGN have an agenda against Nintendo or they do that kind of thing just to gain hits, anyway I stopped checking that site years ago as its just tiresome stuff. |

| Morrissons no longer stocking the Wii U either (not that they ever stocked it anyway.) I took a photo of my amazing Morrissons game section today, so it's not a big loss, but more doom. So weird all this news is coming just when the big games are here. |

| Just Cause 2 being number 1 in the PS3 chart is no mean feat either. That game must be about 3-4 years old! |

| Honestly that chart makes me weep for gaming as whole a little bit. They're almost all just guys looking cool with guns, or sports. It reminds me why I don't do any of my shopping in stores now. It may be a different country, but the range of selection is eerily similar to the range available in local stores here. |

Yes, what a shame, games that don't appeal to you personally. If it's any consolation, though, the in-store 'charts' are rarely that- the numbers are just put there as a justification for having so few games by comparison to their DVD/CD sections. |

Yes, what a shame, games that don't appeal to you personally. Even if I did like those sorts of games the selection is still worth shaking your head over. It is an example of why I never visit my local shops for anything entertainment wise. All they stock are the latest mainstream things and have absolutely no variety. This means even if I liked the games in question I wouldn't revisit to see what they've got because their selection is basically not existent. And this is at a time when stores here are complaining about our high Dollar and how they're losing money to people importing or generally shopping online. They have a puny variety of stock, overprice what they do have, don't have any real online presence themselves, and then wonder why people are shopping at places that have variety and good prices. Granted, most of that is probably Australia exclusive, but lack of variety getting exposure means less variety sells, which leads in to a never ending cycle of them making nothing but samey games, which are the only things stocked, ect. It just reminded me of what a diversity slump the industry is in right now is all. Not everybody likes the same thing, but the lack of diversity in both shops generally and in the industry right now just grinds my gears and is a pet peeve of mine. |

| I'd say there is plenty of diversity (like indie games for example) its just that generally sports or shooters are the big sellers because they are an easy sell, & there is no need to explain to the average joe what they are.

| I went into GAME today hoping to pick up a Wii game as I'm running a bit low whilst visiting my parents and there was a pitiful selection, it was 1 shelf of terrible games. On the other hand the Wii U section was booming, it had all the games I could think of off the top of my head so that was a pleasant surprise. HMV was pretty much the same. |

It'd be interesting to go around branches of GAME and see what they're like for Wii U, if different branches have different levels of stock- it reminds me of when I kept reading from PC gamers that GAME had pretty much left PC gaming behind, while I've never been in a branch that didn't have an amazing PC section. I know PC gamers are the worst group for being entitled and a little bit up their own bum (and I'm fully aware of the irony inherent in saying that on here) but this report/reality disparity is a strange one. |

| To be honest, if gaming specialist retailers didn't stock the Wii U, that would be the end. It's pretty gloomy at the moment, for me. The run-up to Christmas is going to be so important. In other news, I see shanks is mocking us with his Scribblenauts again. |

| Dan Adelman (Nintendo's Indie Outreach) says 20-30 Indie games will be out on Wii U between now and years' end.
Sure, Indie games aren't system sellers, but they're the tasty dessert that sometimes can be the perfect compliment to the main course that is Nintendo games. |

| The Vita lot over on CVG have used indie games (and PS ports) as a reason why the Vita is, like, sooo much better than the Wii U. Would be nice to have something to rub back in their faces.
I'm thinking of picking up Cloudberry, actually, after our dear old ZJ's endorsement of it. |

| Splinter Cell
Splinter Cell: Blacklist producer Liu Jun, has revealed that the Wii U version will not include an offline co-op mode.
During an interview with Nintendo Life, Jun confirmed that the team were unable "to delve into this feature", as they wanted to release the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U titles at the same time.
Despite lacking offline co-op, Jun believes that "Nintendo gamers will be really excited to get the game at the same time as other consoles."
Jun goes on to say that the Wii U version is the only one that allows you to truly experience first-hand how OPSAT works for Sam. The GamePad acts as the player's version of Sam's OPSAT, allowing you to see "how it feels to actually operate it."
The Wii U version will receive all DLC that the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions get, Jun also confirmed.
Indies
The Wii U eShop is expected to play home to an additional 20-30 indie games by the end of 2013, according to Nintendo of America's indie outreach specialist.
Speaking to Joystiq, NOA business development manager Dan Adelman discussed the steps Nintendo is taking to ensure more indie developers release games on the Wii U eShop. |
