| I guess you have to fall back on the old 'well, one day all the old people will be dead and then nobody will remember there not being games.' |

| Violent games mean that I don't see the point in doing it in going out on a murdering spree in real life. I can do it from the comfort of my living room. |

Who the fuck buys this tosh?! Ed Byrne, aparrently- there wound up being a surprisingly long bit on Mock the Week about it last week (after Dara unsubtly tried to guide the discussion onto GTA) and I should imagine lot of people bought it out of curiosity. - Spoiler:
Also I played Truck Simulator once and these things are actually surprisingly compelling

| Fantastic to see Harvest Moon making the top twenty!* It speaks volumes about the 3DS install base; I always considered HM to be the definition of niche.
*Even if it did fall behind Generic Farming Simulator 3D. |

| Here's a link for the valve news. Next bit of news is in 46hrs time, I'm hoping with this OS announced means a steambox is on the horizon. |

I love my games console but steam is probably where the future will end up lying. |

Well, the next clue is [O ], which is SteamOS in a box. |

So steam box is real, different manufacturers will make them and ones to suit everybody including specs which worries me, as I might buy a low speced one and not be able to play everything. If Valve can people to bring out boxes at decent prices, then can see them taking a decent share of the console market. |

| The whole point is its up gradable to how you would want, it all sounds very good but its not quite how I imagined it. |

| I don't really see the point of this. The whole point of game consoles is that they are a simple case of plug them in and boot them up and away you go. None of this needing to know what goes on in the box stuff. You buy the system and it plays everything released on the system for the rest of its life.
I think it's still a decade too early and may or may not miss the point of dedicated consoles as well. The later I'll wait and see about, but the former I believe is true regardless. The world is still not ready for digital only, the outcry over the draconian policies of the pre-u turn Xbox One proves that as far as I can tell. |

| I don't think it'll take a massively sizeable chunk of the console market as it'll primarily appeal to already installed PC gamers, but it's a brilliant concept. The ridiculously cheap price of games on Steam is part of the reason I'm upgrading my laptop to one which can run modern games (as opposed to rendering Street Fighter IV in 4fps with a wireframe stage background...) and so I can play the masses of games I've bought at a dirt-cheap pricing. The upgrading of the box was probably always going to be necessary, as it's in line with what PC gaming is like. I'd say if you were going to pick up one of these you should go for a high-end model as it'll likely last a good five/six years before becoming dated.
One of the pros of something like this is that as well as having access to all the multiplatform releases of the next generation, there's no concern about backwards compatibility. There's three to four generations worth of games already on there for a great price. Add in modding support and I can see emulation on SteamBox too. Definitely something to keep my eye on. |

| Yeah I saw there upgradable, if valve or the manufacturers can make the boxes easy to upgrade. Then I'm happy it's like a streamed lined gaming PC.
As you know I don't really like playing on a PC, I want to sit on my chair with controller looking at my 47inch TV. If valve can bring steam in someway to me and others like me. Then it be great as like Jay said steam has a great price structure then the xbox one had which you compared it to athrun but we know what steam is and how it works. Unlike xbox ones digital which seemed to be very confusing with buying disc based games which be came digital etc. |

This is exactly how I play PC games. Anyway, Steam Machines are just PCs that are marketed for use with a TV. |

| I've always wanted to get into PC gaming (dabbled slightly with my laptop) but found either finding/building the right rig pretty daunting so these steam machines give me an easy in without having to worry about all that. |
