| As cynical as I always am, I see SteamOS as a way for Gabe Newell to ditch Windows and put Steam on Linux, given his current hate for Windows. By aiming at the living room, however, this move may be justified.
I'm not sure how much will change other than where we play the games, all these talks of it being 'Open' aren't going to mean a thing in terms of the games we'll be playing and what we'll be doing compared with other operating systems on the PC.
It's no more open than a standard Windows PC, which you can already put another OS on it/take it apart/whatever, and the lack of Linux software makes it a worse value proposition than a Windows machine. Likewise, unless hardware manufacturers like HP or Dell receive a cut of the games sold through Steam, I can't see the hardware being cheap either.
Furthermore, given Steam's huge monopoly on the PC gaming market, such that developers' games don't sell unless they are on Steam (with many gamers refusing to purchase their games from other storefronts), SteamOS will be just as closed off to developers as it has always been, with Valve taking a 40% revenue cut and games just not selling if they aren't on the Steam store.
Valve comes to developers to ask for their games, just like Tesco would a product on their shelves, and Greenlight, the new alternative to this older approach is still fairly unproven. With Ikaruga and Treasure having to go through it it is clear that Valve still very much controls what content goes on Steam and the entire PC gaming market nowadays.
So I can't see how the move to Linux is going to be more open in terms of what games we can play and what developers' content lands in players' hands. It'll just be moving Steam to Linux and the living room, as far as I can see and based on what Valve has been doing since Steam begun. |

| Here's some progress on that SimplyGames thing.
And here's Russia, stifling freedom of expression again. Although if I were them, I'd be annoyed at the number of games that come down to "Russians are bad, kill all Russians" as well. |

To be fair, picking on the Russians is relatively new- so the residents of Unspecificistan are having a bit or a rest. Also, I'd like to know what Russia has to say about TF2's Heavy. |

I think your bombs comment may have been too complicated for CVG's average AC reader, Beemoh. |

| Is it a surprise though when it's split between two games. Put them together (as they really should be) and surely they're top. |

| I've never understood that myself, the latest PES actually tries to be a bit like Fifa and it's a worse game than the previous year for it. |

| Nothing wrong with buying CoD on PS4, they're trying to innovate this year by copying Battlefield. |

| The DOG, I'm going to get battlefield as well at some point but always preferred COD over the two but I find it funny there copying battlefield a bit a game that doesn't sale as well. But neither are that great of a FPS.
I did say in the Octobers Release thread I seen batman was getting delayed on Wii U & 3DS on Amazon but no where else, just seen on GAME that it's down for the 8th of November same as amazon and a few other places now.
Assassins Creed IV is now coming out on the 29th of October for 360 & PS3. Dam you Ubi & Warner, i was thinking about changing the video for November anyway from the one i have done but now I will do. |
