| Wilfred I'll give you (was there anything about the Donna series that wasn't brilliant? Apart from RTD going all "auteur" towards its conclusion). Mickey and Rory both seemed to fall under category (c) to me. |

| Just popping in to say I really like Listen. - Listen:
At first I thought it was going to be about Danny - then I thought it was about Clara. Finally, I thought it was about The Doctor - then you kind of realise it doesn't matter.
Finally, a great Moffat episode again. It's been a long time. |

The top dead link was to a picture of Captain Jack, who surely falls under your criteria too. Mickey never struck me as pathetic. |

| My theory is falling on its backside here! Let's try again: restricting it to love interests of the main female lead, and not counting either the Doctor or Jack (who is everybody's love interest, natch). I'm afraid that Micky still spent most of his time feeling like... well, like a metal dog. Only not as cute and with no laser. |

| Mickey did become space badass in alternate Earth though. I liked Martha's Dad too. |

| Another good one. The bit in the tunnels was very well-pitched, and I liked the secondary characters, especially the cyborg. |

| Fun bit of sci fi but pretty forgettable coming immediately after Listen. Nice use of time travel, mind. |

| Aye, it was fun enough but nothing special. I did like the cyborg chap - interesting character and very cyberpunk, which I dig. |

| Jay and Drunka are spot on. They were clearly trying to go for one of those clever heist movies, where no-one knows who's playing who right until the end (protip: it's always the little guy who looks like a loser who's really the big cheese). It even came off but just not as exciting as it could have been. |

| Well I enjoyed it. It was better than the bleddy Robin Hood episode anyway, but of course not as good as Listen. |

| Bang on. Ignoring the unbearably awful villain (the Doctor's claims that it was one of the most powerful arsenals in the galaxy paled in the face of its piddly legs and 80s-like cannons - plus, you know, ICBMs, or atomic bombs, or that weapon with a conscience from John Hurt's episode), this episode only really did one thing, and that was cement my love for Danny Pink. He's too good for a girl who lies to him the entire time, and... apparently a ninja?
Unfortunately, it being an episode at a school, we had to have the token tedious child character, who at least did go out in a blaze of glory. Well, puddle. |

| Yeah, alright episode. The villain was unbelievably naff though - looked like a reject from Robot Wars. |

| The villain reminded me of some of the crappy creatures Old Who used to feature, so it was slightly nostalgic. That aside, Drunka says it like it is again. |

| I was oscillating between "rubbish" and "pretty good" for the entire episode. The whole "make a choice" nonsense was... well, nonsense, because you just knew that both were going to happen. It was the flipping space whale all over again. And Courtney definitely has not won me over to the sub-class of episodes I call "ones with kids in". That said, I did like the spider-germs hugely (much better than last week's heap of junk), and Clara's speech at the end wrestled it back in my esteem at the 11th hour. And I haven't stopped loving Dan Pink. Next episode looks classy, too, especially the villain! |

| Slightly hollow, somewhat queasy episode. I agree with Balla that the tension for Earth was false (though it must always be, of course) but there are some things with great potential now running in the series. Let's hope that pays off. |

| I know that all the peril is fake, and that the Doctor and Clara will always come through; but somehow, it seems worse when it's presented (a) as a two-way choice when you know they'll take the third option, and (b) as the linchpin of the episode. |

| That is all true. It seems to be one of those episodes that deflates when you think about it too much. |

| I loved that one. Scary monsters, then an absolutely barmy premise when it all got going. The moon is a space dragon's egg? Fabulous! This is what I want from doctor who: delightfully nonsensical, entirely British storytelling. You wouldn't see that in star trek! |

| All aboard the mummy train! Really liked that one. Great villain, good setting, nice Doctor/Clara dynamics, nicely wrapped up (oh ho ho!), and room to develop it further in a future episode. Who is Gus? I can't wait to find out! I may be becoming a genuine fan of the series again. |

| That was really good. One thing I will say, visually the series is really good at the moment. Very classy looking, proper thanks to a taste of the American dollar. |

| Haven't chimed in here in a couple of weeks! Hated the moon episode - thought it was a poorly written mess riddled with plotholes and I hated the schoolgirl character to the point where it really affected my enjoyment of the episode, of which there wasn't much in the first place.
On the flipside, I thought the mummy episode was bloody brilliant. Great concept, really good visuals on the episode and Capaldi's acting was on point throughout. And next week's episode is written by the same fella as the mummy episode, so it should be a good 'un! |
