| Right I agree with mass effect 1 could be played on it's own but I was left wondering who/what are the reapers but knew it would pay off in the 2nd & 3rd games as BioWare said it was trilogy from the get go. So i went in thinking this is part 1 of 3.
Uncharted 3 might be the better game but 2 is what defined the series and showed what we should be expecting from this sort of game, it set the benchmark. I think balla say's a similar thing about the galaxy games. Last of Us better then Uncharted's ROFL.
I played Super Mario Galaxy 2 last night.
I think it looks great even in 480p and what I did play seemed very good but it was playing it was the problem.
The waggle is awful, you have to use it to break crystal things with the little star bits in that look like rainbow drops in, to use a star to blast off etc and it feels rubbish & unresponsive.
The pointing at the screen to shoot rainbow drop looking stars and to collect them.
Unable to control the camera as there's no right stick or pointing where you want the camera.
The analog stick on the Nunchuck also seemed unresponsive with movement.
So as my Wii was on I played Skyward Sword instead.

But they're still three entirely disparate experiences gameplay wise. You could argue the second and third games were similar, but the third is undeniably designed to play more like a third person shooter instead of an action RPG. Hell, even story wise they're different - the first is like a James Bond plot in space, the second is massive recruitment mission and the third is a galaxy wide epic. Don't get me wrong, I think they're fantastic games - but I wouldn't agree you can say they're all part of the same experience. |

| Yeah game play wise they are slightly different , I would say the 2nd the most like a shooter with the first being a action rpg, the 3rd being a bit a both. Like you said though the 2nd is like a recruitment mission for the final mission in the 3rd. |

Would you say so? I would have said that the 2nd was the "bit of both". Why do you think that? |

The analog stick on the Nunchuck also seemed unresponsive with movement. It sounds like you have broken controllers, I don't see why you'd need the second stick for camera control as the camera behaves perfectly fine on its own & if I remember correctly if needed it can be adjusted slightly at times with the remotes d-pad. The problems you seem to have are with things that easily become second nature so maybe it's how you're playing it & not the games mechanics? If you want unresponsive waggle go play de blob. |

| I did find the camera painful in places. It's sometimes adjustable, but frequently not enough, and it has a nasty tendency to get stuck on the opposite side of planets if I remember right. The other points are rubbish. I never had any problem with the shake, the pointing quickly became second-nature, and the movement is as smooth as in every other Mario game ever. |

| @Jas & Balla
Controller works fine for every other game, like I said I played some skyward sword after did the 1st proper dungeon again (hero mode) fine.
Pointing is stupid, it's fine for something like Pikmin 3 where you want to throw your pikmin or aiming the bow in zelda apart from that it's stupid. I don't like the shake it's unnecessary just let me jump up into the star.
I found controller issue mainly when riding Yoshi, I wanted to move him, aim tongue and control the camera but can't.
This to me has to be the worst mario games to play, if the controls where like 64 & Sunshine it would be fine.
@Jay the 2nd you can't do anything RPG wise like customize your gun for example. |

| Well, each to their own but I never found any of the issues you mentioned. And as far as camera complaints go, Sunshine was a million times worse. |

I can't I remember that ever happening to me. - Quote :

That's sounds like it'd be more complicated to deal with than the way they actually have it. |

| I've got to admit I don't like the point/motion control at the same time as the traditional controls (SM3DW does these so well), but there's so much "idea-ness" in Galaxy I couldn't get remotely close to disliking it.
remotely lol |

That's sounds like it'd be more complicated to deal with than the way they actually have it. Imagine Fludd in sunshine you could aim where the water went, move Mario and camera kinda or how you play a ratchet & clank game you can move, aim and shoot, camera etc. Nothing wrong with sunshine Buska, I would be happy with a HD or VC release of it. |

| I think this "debate" is reaching levels at this point. Masofdas' dislike of the controls is too much to overcome for him to appreciate the rest of the game. This is not true for most other people. I don't see either side changing their tune any time soon. Moving on, have you always been able to get added bounce off Mario enemies by holding A, or is it just a SM3DW thing? I thought precision button presses were usually required! |

| Yep I will leave it at this I want to play them, I want to like them, I want a 3rd game but due to controls the 1st & 2nd thing will not change to I played them and liked them but hopefully we get a 3rd or Universe with a proper control scheme.
I've not a clue about the A and jump, balla.

| I think Mario kart has warped my mind. I'm (hopefully) buying a car this month, so I've been thinking a lot about driving. Whenever I look at a corner and imagine driving around it, I can't help but imagine a little hop and slide. |

| I seem to have bought so many games that I've fallen into a trap. I can't decide what to play, and end up doing nothing.
I've decided that I'm going to avoid any more new games (and consoles) while I work through everything (including all the PS+ games I want to play), and once I do that, not buy any new consoles (well, the PS4) until I've bought other games I want on the systems I do own. |

I've had that problem. My solution has been to keep a list of all said games in order of acquisition, forcing myself to at least attempt them in order- at least this way the choice isn't between all 300 games that I own, but the 250 or so I've started, or this specific one. |

| Backloggery's great for that - there's a fortune cookie option that picks a random game from your collection to play. Unfortunately/fortunately for me, it picked Skyrim. So, I fully expect to suffer academically and socially. |

| I've never gotten on the with Backloggery Fortune Cookie, it always gives me rubbish picks! I've given up on needing to have finished anything in particular and just play whatever I'm in the mood for. |

The problem with that is that there are plenty of games that I don't want to finish. |

Yep, I'm in the same position. My new year's resolution is to stop buying so many games and complete one before moving on. That's why my Christmas present of Bravely Default still remains unopened and I'm concentrating on Link Between Worlds. I'm also trying to buy no more than 1 game a month this year (it sounds a lot, but its far less than last year.) |

| I definitely have this problem a bit, but I don't think I'm in the same league as most of you guys. I tend you complete all the boxes releases I buy (eventually) these days, though I'm still pretty terrible for eshop stuff. |

| I was playing bits of SM3DW, ALBW and BD alternately over the Christmas period. Sometimes I'd just feel like some home-console platforming; sometimes, some handheld action; and at other points something more relaxing. Then I got really into ALBW and the others got sidelined for a bit. |

| I bought more games today, why I don't know. I do tend to finish most boxed games on things like Wii U, PS4 etc but have trouble with downloads at one point I had 90+ games on my PS3 thanks to PSN+ & sales I only ever finished one I think which was Journey. It was the same with XBLA had over 50 games, finished about 10. I think it's because I can't see them on my shelf, so I forget about them also there cheap most of the time. Also I tend not to play or finish much retro (most of my games) I just seem to horde them. |
