Random Gaming Thoughts Thread *NO NEWS ITEMS*

Right just been in the news thread talking about Nintendo Direct and SMASH 4 and Mario Kart Arcade GP X something.

Smash 4 is being worked on with Namco, Mario Kart Arcade also worked on by Namco.

My random thought is where's Namco's games on the Wii U like a Tales of Something for example and why do Nintendo keeping work with them and not say to someone are you going to bring Dark Souls II, Soul Calibur II HD to Wii U.

Dark Souls seems like the sort of thing that Miiverse would just eat up, mind.

I seen this on Nintendo Life a good piece from Zelda Williams. A lot of what she say's is right but I think it's age thing though. Someone a little younger then more likely grew up on the PlayStation not a Nintendo console and younger again a PS2 and so fourth. Even I didn't grow up on Nintendo I grew up on SEGA,

Also how can you not be nostalgic for Halo Combat Evolved though it is still so great.

I grew up on the Spectrum. Great times.   

What is it the year of Rosalina or something shes in SM3DW, Mario Kart 8 & Arcade and now Smash 4. Are Nintendo trying to tell us something like Galaxy 3 maybe.

They did make a comment a little while back that a sequel to galaxy might happen, after 3D World, which would be a dream come true. The art of galaxy combined with the science of Wii u.

So here it is my Top 10 games of 2013 and my GOTY.

I don't think this counts as news, so it goes in here. CVG vote Super Mario Galaxy as their game of the last generation. Other Nintendo entries include Wii Sports at 7, Mario Kart Wii(!) at 22, and Twilight Princess at 30. That's... quite a thing there.

Wow, CVG does something right! Super Mario Galaxy is certainly my favourite game of last generation. At least!

That's a solid choice there. Mario Galaxy was a delight to play.

Mario Galaxy over Mass Effect Trilogy yeah right.

Trilogy wasn't an option because it's 3 games I enjoyed listening to their podcasts about it. Seemed like a good tea so I'll start tuning in to the CVG podcast.

I know it's 3 games but it like the original star wars, lord of the rings, back to the future trilogies etc. It feels like one thing.

Mario Galaxy deserves every award it could possibly win. When you've got the controller in your hand and you're bouncing Mario from planet to planet, nothing can touch that.

Yep, I've said before game might be excellent but controls are awful. I want a Mario Galaxy 3 on Wii U, to see what all the fuss is about and use a normal control scheme.

What? You object to the waggle? The waggle, of all things? Which was kept to a minimum, only really used for set-pieces (where it worked really well) and the spin attack (when it was non-intrusive enough)? I... I don't understand that at all.

I had control problems with the SMGs (well, more 1 than 2), but they were to do with the controls flipping when Mario ran upside-down, and the camera occasionally being frustrating. Nothing wrong with the waggle.

I will try number 2 as I have that on my HDD and tell you what I find wrong.

My only tiny criticism of Galaxy's controls would be that you have to point at the screen too much. Otherwise it's perfect like the rest of the game.

I really disagree that ME feels like 1 game. The first couldn't be more different from the other 2! 2 and 3 might be more similar but they're all self contained adventures with references to the past like any game series. The save file link is definitely one of the reasons it stands out as one of the greatest series this gen but I don't think you can class them all as one thing.

My main issue with their top places were that Uncharted 2 made the list over 3 and that it placed higher than the far superior The Last of Us.

I'll tell you what you'll find wrong: hee-haw. Galaxy is nigh on faultless, and I can only surmise that you've been playing it with something that isn't the Wii Remote and Nunchuck. An ironing board and a jar of marmalade, perhaps?

Story Wise ME feels like one game and me & IGN put the trilogy as one game,

Uncharted 2 is excellent and better then the 3rd and/or last of us.

I think you could happily play 1 as a stand alone adventure and if it didn't get a sequel not have felt something was really missing. 2 could've done fine without the others as well.

Uncharted 3 improves on Uncharted 2 in so many ways! People just have very rose tinted glasses for the still fantastic 2nd game. The melee combat was so much better, the story was top notch and filled with just as brilliant moments as the first and the multiplayer stepped it up another notch. As for the TLoU comparison it's only really being done because it's made by ND. It's certainly not as accessible as Uncharted but it's a much better game.

All the problems I had with Mario Galaxy were control-related.
