Hmm, here's a weird thing. Might be a spoiler if you've not seen CW but you probably know the gist:

A thousand greetings from the Nine Realms, my friends! I come to remonstrate with you for the abject lack of debate about the trailer for the latest documentary of my exploits, Thor Ragnarok. The thespian cast as myself continues to portray me in a wretched, abominable fashion - completely unable to capture my glory and majesty. It vexes me - most irksome. No

I utilised an emoticon! Stark will never believe me. Laughing

Looks alright. Less Thor: The Dark World, more Guardians of the Galaxy. Definitely a good thing.

Your film looks good Mr Odinson but I saw Guardians Vol. 2 last night which very good but some of the jokes and that feel a bit forced though.

Hulk looks like he's about to take you for a guided tour of suplex city, Thorrie boy. I'll need to check out the film when it comes out to see if you can stage a glorious comeback.

So I finally decided to check out one of these superhero TV series with Arrow, enjoying it a fair bit so far, season 1's villain was on point and awesome. Thumbs Up!

Just finished up Arrow season 2. Take note Marvel, that is how you do villains. I'm not going to pretend I have much knowledge about Deathstroke as I'm not much versed in my DC lore, but goshdang the buildup to his assault of terror on Oliver was something else, every time he appeared I was left dreading what he'd do next, and yet when he actually struck decisively it came out of absolutely nowhere and set the stage for three episodes of pure unadulterated awesomeness. Haven't enjoyed bingeing on a TV season that much in a loooong time.

I think we were chatting about this during a recent Mario Kart session. I think it's a given that Marvel do heroes better, and DC do villains better.

I'd personally say only Spidey has a suitable rogue's gallery, but that's about it when it comes to Marvel villains.

Yesterday I continued my love affair with The Flash by getting the Lightning Strikes Twice trade paperback. It's a fun story but seems to exist just to give the TV show another year of exactly the same format:

Massive spoilers for The Flash S3:

Marvel do have good villains - Kingpin, Magneto, Doctor Doom - but in the films at least they've not given them as much chance to shine as DC did in the Batman films.

Just seen Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and it was great fun. Much better villain than the original, and it did a good job of following naturally and organically from that film. On the other hand, it did feel a little more forced in its humour and wackiness than the previous film. That film felt like the characters were naturally funny, whereas this one was very deliberately a comedy. Still, it looked great, it made me chuckle, it made me feel and it had good action and that.

I can see where you're coming from - Baby Groot and whatnot - but I still thought it was similarly tonally to the first film. In fact, I thought the emotional turn it pulled at the end of the film was really surprising so I'd actually class it as more of a serious film than its predecessor.

I may have been let down by the fact I was in a cinema with the worst fucking audience. Laughing and squeeing and repeating lines and just desperately trying to show how quirky and fun and zany they were and how happy they were to find a film that "gets them" and I may be projecting a little.

It definitely had some very touching moments. The themes were very resonant with me, as someone who's dad isn't his biological father. I think it was a great example of how to do a sequel, building on what came before and moving the characters forwards.

F8 of the Furious was also very good at that. I love Vin Diesel's fam'ly.

I felt let down somewhat by some of the comedic delivery, although Dave Bautista continues to amaze and delight (he was my highlight of the first film). It was a pretty good film, natch, but not one of my favourite Marvel ones.

It amazes me how brilliant Batista is in that role. They hired a pair of pecs, but they got the heart underneath.

Myself and my siblings (we all saw it together) are in the same boat as yourself by way of adoption, and there was definitely a quiet moment of reflection between us as the ending panned out. I think that's why it hit me pretty hard, to be honest. I'm startled that a movie about a smack-talking raccoon, a tree, Batista, a green lady and Chris Pratt managed to evoke so much emotion from me.

So I finished bingeing Arrow season 3 and started season 4, and good grief Laurel Lance is one of the most annoying and obnoxious characters I've seen in a tv show in quiet some time.

Like with any long running series characters usually have phases where they're annoying and insufferable, but Laurel is like that pretty much all the time after season 1.  Also doesn't help that she spends so much time constantly whining about things that are at least partly her own fault and attacking others over them.

Still it might be tolerable if she also didn't constantly run around making everything worse because she thinks she knows better than everybody else.  "Oh, my spoiler spoilered, I can go around beating up street thugs without any training, I mean Oliver does it, and lord knows he didn't spend five years stranded on a hostile island where I know he got tortured at least once and presumably got trained in some way.  I can totally do it!!"  And don't even get me started about everything going to s*** in the last seven episodes of season 3 partly heavily because she decided to be a selfish idiot.

I honestly didn't think she could get any worse after season 3, but no, somehow in four episodes season 4 has topped all of that.  Because lord knows Thea developing insatiable murder-lust after her revival and everyone else telling her not to revive her sister in the Lazarus Pit just means they're all idiots, they couldn't possibly know what they're talking about and know more than she does.  If everything turns out alright eventually lord knows it won't be because of Laurel.

I'm enjoying the series in general, but dear god Laurel tests my patience, and I can only hope she gets some comeuppance at some point.

Saw Wonder Woman last night and it by far the best DCEU movie and a good comic-book movie, only real issue is towards the end where it goes all Man of Steel and Dawn of Justice.

DoPo, for which I should rightly be punished... which is thematically appropriate, as I am here to talk about the second season of Daredevil, which I have eyes on as I type. Cool I'm on the tenth episode, and it feels like the threads of the season are about to be pulled tight and really come together into something grand. I like Daredevil as a hero.

Also, side note: the show's theme tune is awesome. Mind you, that's characteristic of all the superhero TV shows I watch (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Flash, Supergirl). In fact, I'm going to stick my neck out and say that The Flash has one of the best TV theme tunes ever. Boo-hoo

What? Only emoticon with a musical instrument. Winky Face

Do you know, I'm trying to remember the Flash theme in my head right now and I can't? I can remember "I'm Barry Allen and I am the fastest man alive" but that's it.

The narration does get in the way somewhat during the opening credits, but the closing ones are always worth waiting for, for me (although some continuity announcers can spoil that, too). Anyway, I found this video but I haven't listened to it. Neutral

Ah, yeah! It is a good'n, particularly when used in the show. I'm not sure if it's the best, but it is grand.

I like it because it's earnest, energetic and heroic - much like The Flash himself. The Daredevil theme also represents its hero well - sombre but somehow determined, too. Typing of Daredevil, a nice end to S2. The Defenders can't come soon enough! Grin

I think the problem is that Lois and Clark, Supergirl and the Spider-Man films have done earnestly heroic so well, not evenmentioning John Williams or Hans Zimmers' Superman themes, whereas Daredevil is quite unique in the character traits it captures.

None of which is to say Flash has a bad theme tune!

By the way, Mr Jones, have you seen any of Legends of Tomorrow? Worth bothering with?
