| After a lot of hard thinking, I put KIU up over LM2. I just had more fun with Pit and friends. I know that's no better from your perspective, Jas. That said, I voted them both up over OoT - 'cause, y'know, it's a port. Out of context, it might well be the best game on the 3DS, but it's a port. ACNL didn't make my retail list. It suffers from Steamworld Dig syndrome - addictive, without being all that much fun when you stop to think about it. Also this: - ZeroJones wrote:

is many levels of wrong. Advancing with a group of well-developed interesting characters might be fun, but Pokémon has about two of those, to my mind: Blue and N. |

| The friends from X/Y are awful. To be honest I found the whole single player experience to be uninteresting, I think Kalos may have even contributed to that... |

| Not a problem, I was going to ask whether you were going to put up other choices that didn't make the majority voting outcomes, along with any words that were written for them, so I'm glad you are! |

| All right, who voted for TotA in the retail games? Not to mention Auld(r)ant in the worlds? It was Fronky, wasn't it? at him! Also, Pokémon Z hasn't been announced yet, has it? Or MM3D. Someone's been playing fast and loose with the voting categories... As I guessed, Bravely Second was robbed! I'm guessing we don't get to see the rest of the comments, then? |

| I'm trying to work out what to do with the comments at the moment. They're few and far between for those that didn't make the top 5 so I didn't think it fitted with that format. |

| Could just do "comments by game" not divided into lists and that. Would be amusing to have dishonourable and honourable mentions mixed in together (If there are games with both). |

I'm guessing we don't get to see the rest of the comments, then? I'm innocent, I swear! I voted for Luxendarc in the worlds category, and Resident Evil Revelations alongside Ridge Racer 3D for best retail game. Would never vote in Tales of the Abyss, given how it's a bad port of a middling Tales RPG (dungeon design is still dreadful, and the world was a forgettable smudge of turquoise and brown). The "most anticipated 3DS game" section has me disappointed in myself. Can't believe I forgot about Bravely Second and 3D OutRun, I only voted for games that had release dates (except Majora's Mask 3D).

| Okay, you're reprieved. I wouldn't have voted for Luxendarc, though: it has the same dungeon problem that Auldrant did, and there are only really four places of interest throughout the entire map (the towns). What's more, those towns may be nicely drawn, but they don't have many secrets or enter-able buildings to their name. Surprised that the mansions from LM2 got so few votes - there was some great stuff going on there. |

Surprised that the mansions from LM2 got so few votes - there was some great stuff going on there. Agreed on all that, though I had my reasons. Hopefully Andy will post up the comments as I did write a thing for each of the worlds, I also voted for Luigi's Mansion 2's world (and 3D Land's, which was more a platforming-with-confidence thing). |

| It was me who voted for Tales of the Abyss, Balla. Bear in mind that I only have 14 3DS games, so most of them made the top ten... Even Luigi's Mansion! |

| But... You liked the dull boring world underneath? Which was only used for fetch-quests? Especially given the inclusion of the Qliphoth, which had all the purple of Metroid Prime 2's alternate world with none of the personality?
I put in a vote for Jade Curtiss in my characters document, because he's funny, but that's the most recognition that travesty is getting from me until the hate-votes come out. |

| Oh, Balla, don't phrase it like that, you're only trying to be annoying. Of course I don't like dull worlds and fetch quests. I liked the battle system, and the structure. I thought it was fun, and it kept me playing consistently until I finished it. That's more than I can say for Bravely Default, which is fine, but arguably more tedious.
I'd also say that Abyss's Jade and Default's Ringabel are both profoundly annoying characters that, if anything, mar the respective experiences, but I fear Balla might explode... |

| That doesn't tell me why you gave Auldrant 5 points in the worlds vote, though! (Assuming it was you.) I'll save my further rage for now until the dishonourables come about, but I found nothing in BD as tedious as the dialogue-delivery sections in TotA.
As for Jade and Ringabel, I can actually see that. For me, Jade fell on the right side of the funny/annoying line - Ringabel didn't, but one could at least hammer the A button to skip his dialogue, unlike TotA's talking heads. |

| - Tenth:
Star Fox 64 3D Points: 21 First places 0 You say: "A shiny-looking version of a great N64 game. Harder to aim, mind." I say: Not one I've ever clicked with. Not loving the score attack nature or being able to find the alt routes I basted through it and put it down without caring for it. You have spoken though!
- Ninth:
SteamWorld Dig Points: 22 First places 0 You say: "It dared to put a structure on the mining/looting genre, and succeeded, managing the "just 5 more minutes, I'll just dig out those gems" feeling. Small, but concise. Bonus points for the guy in charge of the company being a nutcase." "quirky Metroidvania fun." I say: Well deserved, a wonderful game that whilst short gave me some incredibly fun hours.
- Eighth:
Pokémon X/Y Points: 34 First places 1 You say: "Quilladin is dire. The mega-evolutions are dire. Only 69 new Pokémon is dire. The EXP Share is very dire. A truly 3D Pokémon game with beautiful battle animations, the best soundtrack since RSE, and analogue roller-skates? Far from dire." "Now, I count myself as a fan to the core series of pokemon games. I have always liked collecting 8 gym badges and challenging the elite four, it has always had a degree of difficulty. So, would someone please explain to me how what they did to EXP Share was ever a good idea? Look, the online is great and yes the exp share is useful when building a team to take on the hordes of Aegislash fans, surely it would make sense to recieve this item after the elite four? Compounding this is the dumbest AI in any pokemon game ever and trainers who have at most three pokemon being the majority. As this is meant to be positive, I will say I really like the new pokemon designs. The starters are nice and varied and some of the new critters are the best yet. Also the online is formatted quite well. I just want to see this divebomb on our 'best game' list but it still needed a place on my list." "if it hadn't been for THAT CAMERA, X would have hit higher." "The Pokemon game we should have had two generations ago. There's not a lot I can say about this that hasn't been said. It's actually quite difficult to explain the way I enjoy Pokemon games; they're not the best videogames in any way of looking at them but the connection I feel with my little monsters genuinely makes me feel like a real Pokemon trainer. Nothing else gets into my head in the same way." I say: A Nintendo handheld without a Pokemon game would feel wrong. Not a surprise this makes the top 10. As I said before I'll pick up Z
- Seventh:
Fire Emblem AwakeningPoints: 46 First places 2 You say: "I'd never really gotten into a Fire Emblem before this one, but man was this good. For my money, I still think a 3DS Advance Wars would be better but getting into this story, developing my characters, wrapping my head around each battle and following all the little love stories was an incredibly engrossing experience. Completely and totally unputdownable." I say: The very best game on the 3DS for my money. I love everything about this game from the support/romance system to the fantastic turn based combat. Easy to get into for noobs with the lack or perma death I think this is likely the finest entry into the series. A great roster of characters has cemented this a place in my heart and a place on my 3DS. Mario Kart 7 Points: 46 First places 0 You say: "We're driving through the air, We're gliding in the moonlit skies. The people down below Are wonderingwhothoughtthatthesubmarineswereapositivecontributiontothe gaaaaame." "A good entry to the series, way better than the wii version with its stupid controls and bikes. However, why remove so many characters and then replace them with Lakitu and Wiggler? Shy Guy is a good addition imo but no King Boo makes me sad. Doesn't hold a torch to the glorious Mario Kart DS." "Better than the DS one, and there were a few super courses. Trouble is, we've seen MK8 since then..." "Never quite got under my skin in the way MKDS did. I think the Kart games have become a bit too homogenised; apart from the graphics, this one and the Wii one and what I've played of the Wii U one all control pretty much the same. It's like the Hovis of Nintendo games; everyone likes it, anyone can play it and Nintendo know exactly what they're doing." I say: Probably my least favorite entry in the series, it probably didn't help that the online never took off (and I got it too late for the first burst). I'd be tempted to give it a second spin if I saw it cheap though.
- Sixth:
Kid Icarus UprisingPoints: 50 First places 2 You say: "I guess I'd better address those controls, then. Well, they worked like a dream in the air. They weren't perfect on land, but they did the job... for me, anyway. That job being navigating you around ker-azzy worlds, fighting ker-azzy enemies and listening to ker-azzy dialogue. If I'm sounding a bit critical, it's because those would normally be criticisms, yet KIU manages to be so over-the-top ker-azzy that it works. Also: Hades. Just... Hades." "the most fun experience on 3DS. Genuine laughter, genuine horror and genuine shocks." "Looks incredible, the action is fast-paced and the controls are perfect SHUT THE FUCK UP." I say: This has quickly shot to the top of my to play pile. Sounds like it's well worth giving a proper play (and judging by the results I should've stuck with this insteda of Revelations).
- Fifth:
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon Points: 65 First places 0 You say: "I didn't discuss the gameplay much in the retail vote. It's as solid as its predecessor, only there's more of it. Lots of exploration to be done, lots of treasures and gems to find, although it isn't always clear which missions they're in. Not that any of it matters when it's overshadowed by Luigi's rubbery Aardman-like face and its range of endearing expressions, making any gameplay foibles seem insignific- ARGH I FELL OFF THE SODDING TILT BEAM AGAIN." "If I'm honest... I didn't actually enjoy the gameplay that much; it felt a bit slow, and, with a first generation 3DS, it always felt like I was going to break the circle pad. But Luigi gave me a whole bunch of LOLs." "A delicious little adventure that's broken down that classic Nintendo exploration flavour into perfect handheld chunks. Luigi's brilliant rubber-faced antics and cowardly character charmed the hell out of me and this made his year a year to remember." I say: A very charming adventure that I feel suffered from its missions based structure. I'd love to try the multiplayer some time as it sounded like a blast.
- Fourth:
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DPoints: 69 First places 0 You say: "Things that are still great about OoT: The music. See: Lost Woods, Castle Town, any of the ocarina songs, the rest of the soundtrack. The story. Okay, so it's a clichéd boy-rescues-girl-from-villain plot, but it's told so well. From Link's first nightmare to the castle meeting to re-encountering Ruto... Fantastic stuff. The massive world you've got to explore. How much game time exactly? Side-quests pouring out of its ears. The later dungeons. Special mention to the bloody 'orrible Shadow Temple. Brrr. Bongo Bongo. Riding a horse. Outclassed a bit by TP, but horse-riding is great in any Zelda game. The game. Things that aren't so great any more: The yawning emptyness of Hyrule Field. The Great Fairies' polygonal breasts. The ayes have it, then!" "A timeless classic, looks brilliant with new graphical improvement." "it's a better looking version of the best game ever. And yet I've put it in 2nd place. AAAAAAAA*universe explodes*. The template for all good adventures." I say: Not my favourite entry to the series but it doesn't surprise me that it's here. A very well loved game even if you're mad for rating it above some of the classic 3DS games!
- Third:
Super Mario 3D Land Points: 80 First places 0 You say: "What's this world? Ice world? F*** it - it's just "world 6" now. Free from the shackles of environmental constraints, Ninty got on and just made all the little level ideas they could. Awesomes." "Nintendo find a strange new style that comes together." "Nobody can touch 3D Mario and although this one lacked the spark of most of its stablemates, it still plays like a treat. Having these little Mario levels to discover whenever I wanted to; in bed, at work, on the bus, was brilliant. Top stuff." I say:A brilliant if not just a bit too easy entry to the series. It was filled with fun from beginning to end and deserves its place up here amongst the best of 3DS
- Second:
Animal Crossing: New LeafPoints: 85 First places 4 You say: "A glorious time-sink until I lost it. More Crossing, with more fish, more bugs, and a new island where you could make lots of money through catching even more fish and even more bugs. Happy Room Academy? Pshaw. It's all about filling up that museum, and y'all know it." "Customization at its finest, lots to do to both house and town and a great online to share your ideas, the island feels a little to gimmicky for my liking, taking away from the games natural slow pace in favour of netting rare bugs to complete your town as fast as possible. Definitely dumbed down in terms of special events as all AC games have been since the 'best' version on Gamecube (no calender!?)" "it's basically made my 3DS un-put-downable. I've played 3 ACs before this, and after the Wii one I thought I was done with it. But there's so much more to do now; the town improvement is such a great idea, and ties in with - can you believe it? - a fully thought-out online system." "amazingly well-crafted, characterful and thus charming experience." "For my money, Animal Crossing belongs on a handheld. For a solid six months, I was playing this upwards of an hour every single day. It really felt like a little village full of my friends in my pocket. Quality stuff." I say: I'll probably never understand your love for this game but it clearly deserves its place based on the praise it gets showered with and the hours you have poured into it.
- First:
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Points: 90 First places 5 You say: "I was sceptical when I turned the game on. I've never liked 2D Zeldas, with their spartan overworlds and light story, as much as their 3D cousins. Yet even at the start, I couldn't help be stunned by how pretty it was, and how smoothly it moved. Not much later, I was jumping for joy when I discovered that in fact, there was a proper overworld, with characters and a town. And then the references, including musical ones, came flooding in in their droves, tickling my nostalgia gland. By the time I got the ability to hieroglyph myself, I was already hooked, and it only got better from there. What's not to love? The clever dungeons, doing what they can with only one item at a time, turned from 2D puzzles into 3D ones by that brilliant hieroglyphing mechanic. A series of characters, not over-developed, yet developed enough to give the world more of a personality than the bland one from LttP. One of the series' great side-quests, in the form of the utterly adorable Maiamai babies and their wonderful theme tune. Yes it was a bit easy at times, and no the item-lending mechanic didn't work, but hey - the latter did at least introduce Ravio! I'm rambling, I know, but I have so many praises to sing about this game. It's not perfect, but what game is? If Phantom Central-Sodding-Dungeon Hourglass can win the DS vote, this had better win the 3DS one, or it'll be an utter travesty." "Good but not a true Zelda Great. Granted it is a fun and great looking game (especialy in 3D) but it just lacked somewhat in side-quests and an engaging story." "in retrospect, knowing the land inside out might have cost this game 2nd place (watch for the hypocrisy). But it felt like a proper Zelda game, with secrets and options (hint hint Skyward Sword hinty hint). Oh, and no frickin' touchscreen/microphone pish." "for once, a Zelda title fully deserves its hype. The 'gimmick' works brilliantly." "What a cracking game. All the way up to release, despite all the reviews and all the previews and having a quick go at Comic Con, I just couldn't get excited about this game. It was re-using an old world, it had cutesy top-down graphics, it just screamed “New Legend of Zelda” at me and I thought it was going to be super forgettable. I have never been so wrong. Played a treat, looked great, came with a gorgeous gold 3DSXL and the music is absolutely ridonks. A perfect game to sit and play over Christmas while ignoring my family." I say: Whilst not my first it is very deserving of the slot. Wonderful dungeons, a brilliant world and some of the most fun you can have with a 3DS. Loved eery moment!
That's the big one for you, I'll try and get the worst up a bit later.

| For a most part, a very good list. Kid Icarus really should be higher - it's a shame to see one of my worst 3DS games above it.
Still, it's nice to see that Lylat Wars 3D just about made it. |

I'm really hoping you're trolling. To the contrary I personally didn't get on with Kid Icarus (not my kind of thing) but recognise it's a great game, I have no trouble with it being in the top 10. |
