| I was busy editing my post to be less nerdish! Anyway... End the working week on a high with the GNamer Forum Annual Awards! A really depressing high. The Venom_UK Award for Most Missed Forumite of the Year (13 votes)Bronze Medal- Spoiler:
(one vote each)=Dusty Knackers"Had good chat, basically. He’s always been a very readable and humourous poster who helped make this place and NGamer that bit more homely. Come back!" =JayMoyles"It was going to be JayMoyles but they both turned up not that long ago! I can't really vote anyway since I was missing at the start and towards the end of last year. Ill go with JayMoyles since he turned up after the calendar role." =nupkin" " (Also, one struck-out vote. I saw it though, don't worry!)=SuperPaperLink"Hey, what happened to SuperPaperLink?" (Anyone? - Ed.) Silver Medal- Spoiler:
beemoh (four votes)"This was going to be Stu, but thank goodness he’s returned at the last moment! In terms of who we’ve lost in 2014 I think it’s going to be a two-way tie between Beemoh and Axis1500 for me, the forum certainly doesn’t feel the same without their presence." (I'm a nasty person and made this forumite choose one way or the other. He went for beemoh, but Axis1500: know that you too were missed - Ed.)"Very funny chap with a lot of insightful things to say. Judging by some comments on Twitter too, doesn't seem like he'll back either. " "Where is our Beems at? Where'd he go? I feel SO ALONE without him " "With everyone flooding back I can't even be sure who counts any more, but Beemoh is definitely a missed forumite." And the winner is...- Spoiler:
Stu_the_great (five votes)"An unhappily tough choice to make, but Stu was a perfect gentleman on the forum, a source of fine posts and intelligent comments. Sadly missed... What? He's back? Oh well: he returned in 2015, so it still applies to 2014!" "For 2014... Stuart T. Great, take a bow. And an arrow. Shoot that target over there." "He was gone for half a year and, in that time, half a year passed without him. If Stu doesn't count then I vote nupkin because she seemed nice." "It just didn't feel the same without him around." "I've missed his presence." (And since he didn't turn up for the Secret Santa, you've also missed his presents! - Ed.) (You're fired - Ed-in-Chief.) I says- Spoiler:
A lot of great forumites left in 2014, sadly. I thought this would be a three-way dog-fight between Stu, Jay, and beemoh - only happily, two of them turned up! Possibly confusing things. They definitely still counted, though, their grand re-entries being after the change of year. While such prestigious forumites as Dusty and Jay arguably deserved more than one vote each, I can't argue with the winner. Only I can, because he's back on the forum. Green Day are rubbish, Stu, and welcome back!

| Everything about this award makes me sad. As others have said, I'm glad to see Stu and Jay are still around and I see enough of Axis from his tweets and occasional gnamerings but beemoh appears to be genuinely gone |

| Ah, I didn't end up voting for Stu due to his being here when I came back. Thank you to the kind soul who voted for me - I didn't plan to be away as long as I was, but circumstances change I suppose. I hope beemoh comes back one day. |

| Aww, cheers guys! I feel a bit of a fraud accepting the award when the likes of Dusty, Beemoh and Axis are still AWOL, but I'm massively heartened by all your kind words. A lot of crap went off at the back end of last year (and a fair bit still is, truth told), but I'm back in the gaming fold to a certain extent, so I hope to be making a nuisance of myself here for as long as you'll have me. Oh, and I was gutted to note that Jay was also missing when I returned, but thankfully he showed up shortly after me and I was relieved to see him around again. Also: Venom_UK. |

This was the year of the Drunkalilly tagline: the top two spots and one of the third places were invented or inspired by him. Beemoh also had a good showing, being behind three of the podium placers. Sigh...
Me, I'm chuffed that we've got all the podium placings filled, and first place especially went to a corker. The only thing I'd ask for is more comments next year!

Great way to put it. - My Most Missed Forumite vote and reasoning:
For me, it was a straight fight between beemoh and Stu (with apologies to Dusty and Axis, who are fine forumites, and many others). beemoh is an incredible wit, as we know, but is also very erudite: I remember reading a post of his arguing that the best noise in gaming was actually the silence between the third shake and the click of a Poké Ball, and it was amazing stuff. If he never returns, then there is a big hole in the forum (if you ever read this, beemles, I hope I haven't embarrassed you!).
But Stu - and I equally hope not to embarrass him - is the beating heart of the forum. His return simply indicated how much we'd been missing in his absence.
As for the tagline award, it's great to see a huge variety of contributions tickle people's humourbuds. Keep 'em rolling in, everyone! |

Aww, that's lovely. Touched, I am. Earnestly. I guess all we need to do now is make the forum as appealing as possible to as many people. ~~~~ Congrats to Drunka, then! I do enjoy reading the taglines, even if I don't always get some of them the first time I read them. |

| I really like ZJ's post about the most-missed awards (even if he missed out Jay, who I feel left yet another gaping hole in the forum), and especially the bit about Stu being the heart of the forum (or part of it). When he came back, our daily postcount shot up like a puppy tied to a space shuttle: in particular, the retro forum, where I don't usually have much to say. |

| Once I'd seen Jay's tweet saying he would be back, it was simply a matter of waiting. His absence was keenly felt too but I always knew he would return, so didn't include him in being missed. We all contribute to the forum and it does feel - unbalanced? Not itself? - any time a forumite takes a leave of absence. In a way, we're all the heart of the forum.

| Yeah, 'tis great to have Jay and Axis back. Even though I didn't realise either of them were missing until very recently. Looking at it, we might've dropped on with gjones showing up, too. Seems like a nice chap. |

| Today's second award. Will there be a third one? Ooh, the suspense! The Sheik Award for Alternate Account of the Year (8 votes)Bronze Medal- Spoiler:
Nothing but the howling void
"No vote, I ain't a fan" (Don't let Reggie catch you saying that - Ed.) Silver Medal- Spoiler:
=Sylveon (one vote)"If you have the patience to change to pink text..." =The Christ (one vote)(No comment, just appreciation.) And the winner is...- Spoiler:
=Gogoata (three votes)"Plenty of posts and a great impression made." "There hasn't been a lot of alt. account action this year, disappointingly, but the grassy goat stepped (trotted?) up to the mark with his beery bleatings. I do occasionally worry about Shanks, though." =Reggie Fils-Aime (three votes)"I'm voting for Reggie again, because I miss him." "Reggie. If not applicable then none of them." I says- Spoiler:
There's not been much alt. action this year, which might be a good thing; but prior to May, The Christ managed to squeeze in four posts and Reggie five, and both Pokémon popped up throughout the year. One of GNamer's funniest aspects in my view, and it'd be a shame to see it disappear. Maybe "A Heron" should make its return... Incidentally, maybe The Christ shouldn't post too much in the near future: his current rank is "Tingle's Dingle", which I feel he would appreciate.

Yes! I wonder what Monty Mole has to say about all this? I won't lie: the first influx of alt. accounts annoyed me at the very beginning, but now I miss the craziness. Never happy! |
