Sharpedo is Water/Dark, so Fighting, Grass, Electric, Fairy and Bug are good against it, but don't use Psychic, Ghost, Steel, Fire, Water, Ice or Dark.  As I said, my experience has been it is easy to catch if you have the right Pokemon, if you see it.  You could go 2-3 days and not see it, so you do want the right Pokemon for it, but those will be the wrong Pokemon for Cherrum.   Carvanha is the same type as Sharpedo, so both are covered by the same Pokemon.

Aren't the Pokemon in Shuffle only single-typed though? I don't remember encountering a dual-type 'Mon in this game.

Yeah, you are right, that one is on me, it is just a Dark Pokemon.

I have captured them all on one of my consoles, oddly enough the one I only started recently with mainly weak Pokemon. The other 4 I am down to just one to go on each, two of them Cherrim and the other two Sharpedo. It is just a law of averages now until they show up and I have the right team for them. Then I can go back to the usual routine.

Anyone got a failsafe strategy for Mega Ampharos? I'm having trouble with this even with a Disruption Delay in force.

It is not failsafe, but an extra 5 turns and a Mega Start are invaluable, as you don't need to catch it, just beat it.

Thank you, sir. With the Mega Start, I'm thinking Khangaskhan might be a good choice to clear up those ice disruptions.

Can only agree - any Mega with good clearance (and no type disadvantage, natch) will do you proud. Speaking of 'proud', I've just caught Cherrim with Mega Audino, Scyther and Scizor (had my eye on Carvanha, to be honest). Now for, er, Carvanha!

I've bumped into Carvanha once, and he seems to have high HP considering it's a five-move game. :/

Managed to catch Cherubi on my second attempt, and Spinda got away. Haven't seen any others yet.

I just caught my last Cherrim tonight with Mega Glalie, Ninetales and a Chatot. Glad to see the back of them. Now I need just 2 more Sharpedos and I am completely done with this challenge. I am glad to be doing other things for a change with the other three. Doing it over and over, waiting for a Cherrim or Sharpedo to turn up was getting tedious.

Carvanha is mine! Lucky 32%-with-Great-Ball catch. Good luck to y'all... I've seen two Sharpedoes (?) - I reckon it's pretty easy to nab, when it does turn up!

Surely a Great Ball would have given you near 100% with that?  Did you use one?  It would have been worth the coins.

Bummer, that would have been very frustrating. Did you use more than one? I have sometimes gone to three if I had to.

Who is with me when I say that they should introduce an Ultra Ball (perhaps tripling your chance) as well, as an option, for maybe 5-7,000 coins. I would like that option for those moments I really just want to catch the damn thing.

Yes! Right there with you, OS. Knowing Shuffle, you'd probably have to fail with a Great Ball three times and use one of your jewels to get one...

Excellent! Which 'Mon did you use, may I ask? I've beaten Carvanha a grand total of once out of the times I've seen one. The only Safari monsters I've caught so far are Spinda and Cherubi.

Oh, and Mega Ampharos tumbled like a pack of Pokémon cards last night. And I earned mt twelfth jewel, promply converting them to 48,000 smackers.

Audino in the Mega slot, Scyther and Scizor. I brought bugs because they beat Grass and Dark types, thus dealing with most of the Safari beasts. And Audino powers up quickly, too.

Scyther I have, not got Scizor yet and I'm struggling for decent strength bug types. He's been in my team, thinking about it. Alongside Lucario and Groudon because they're the strongest 'Mon I currently possess.

How does everyone feel about the Safari? I'd much rather have the daily 'Mon, personally - the RNG at play in the Safari is ludicrous, if not a little expected.

I actually like the idea. It is certainly challenging, but once you know the appearance rate, you can assign Pokemon in order of likely appearance. I don't mind if they do it again and I am sure they will.

However, that last Sharpedo is starting to drive me nuts. I have plated at least 50 goes a day for the last 3 days and it hasn't appeared once on the console I am using. That I am over. They need the appearance rate to be a little more reasonable. I am so glad to be doing other stuff on the rest of the consoles, it is a nice break.

That's the thing - that situation you're in with your last console is all I've been doing on Pokemon Shuffle lately. I'd love to be playing other stages, but I'm stuck playing the same three or four stages over and over to try and encounter Sharpedo. If the encounter rates were a little fairer, I could get behind the Safari more, but I know they won't tweak them. It's all about the dolla dolla with Shuffle.

It's been an interesting challenge, planning for Pokémon who might not show up. It's also been fun to plan without the Mega Start crutch. As y'all have rightly said, the proportions have been a little off. Dat Sharpedo...
