| I'm surprised at that, Drunka! Somebody so forthrightly liberal, loving possibly the most polluting form of transport? If I go up to Scotland, it'll be by train: just doesn't seem worth the carbon dioxide to fly. |

| I care greatly about the environment but the planet is beyond doomed. It won't be fixed without fundamental change at the governmental level. And I'm skint and enjoy flying, so I'll take what I get. |

| Hm, although I don't necessarily disagree, I feel that the best way we can put pressure on governments to make any sort of change is to do what we can. Cycling, recycling, not buying SUVs, solar panels, tactically voting for the Greens etc. But I'm not going to quibble too much about a single plane journey when there are worse offenders. At least you're not a climate denier.
Plus, I quite like trains. Something soothing about the sound of wheels. |

I quite like seeing the countryside whiz by too. |

| I don't mind trains but South West to Newcastle would definitely be taking the piss a bit.
Newcastle is alright for me, but it'll depend on time/money for me so I'll keep my eyes peeled. |

| It's we save the environment and go by train that's still a 4hr journey & £241 for two people, where the plane is £96 for two people & only takes 1hr 5mins.

| Why I pet! Generalisation aside I'd be up for the meet up and anywhere should be ok for me to get to I reckon, Manchester is fairly central and with enough notice it should be easy. I'd say end of July - start of August are no good for me but most other times should be good. |

| So it's looking like Newcastle, in June or July? If we could all get there, that would be beyond brilliant. |

| I had an afternoon in Newcastle four or five years ago. There is at least one nice big pub, so Cap's idea is in with a shout. If we're going for June or July, are there any dates that anyone can rule out straightaway? Weddings, bar mitzvahs, the like? |

| Weekends either side of 14th of June aren't great for me. Otherwise I can't see any problemos |

| Just seems a long way to just to go to the Pub, that's all.
But I guess we could do what Jay said bring a Wii U and bunch of games and setup in the hotel. |

Personally, I won't believe there is such a person as "Balladeer" until I see him or her in the flesh. |

| "Balladeer" was originally an elderly woman named Clarissa Monroe. She herself died of shock when the closure of NGamer was announced and since then all the posts from that account have been made by her 14 cats and their kittens, crawling across the keyboard with their little paws and forming bizarre opinions about games with their feline hive mind. |

Fucking hell, Mas. As for dates, it ultimately depends on what's available for holidays at work. I'll need to check. I'm off every Sunday though, so preferably a Saturday going onto a Sunday would work best for me. |

*imagines Balla's life as like Harvest Moon but with spreadsheets instead of crops*I should also rule out the first weekend in June, because it's my birthday. |

| Maybe we should draft up an availability post in the OP so we can work out an exact date for this? The sooner I know, the sooner I can try and get a holiday in for this. |

| I was at Durham uni and went to Newcastle a fair number of times, can confirm good city The train takes 5 hours and is £60 from Reading, which is borderline doable (especially as I can swing by Durham for a few hours on my way home and I never get the chance to go back normally). If you'd want me turning up that is |
