(Polygon recently predicted lifetime sales of 1.26m lol.)
Then they've nearly done it, go team Nintendo.... don't screw up and sell more. |

| The amount of advertising I'm seeing for this is heartwarming. Nintendo's really pushing the boat out on this one. |

| So, got this the other day but was out enjoying the weekend sun on some pre-arranged trips, so didn't play it. Returned to find my friends had played it all day for 10 straight hours in multiplayer! Did some single player myself last night (since everyone else I know is currently recovering from the weekends MK8 exhaustion: this made me quite sad!). Absolutely love it, the racing has never been better, the game looks and feels great and the track design is just sublime. So glad it's selling well and selling Wii Us. Deservedly so I'd say! |

| Received this a few days later than expected, but I'm now the last person who bought a Wii U before May 30th to own Mario Kart 8. Initial impressions (after the first four cups on 50CC mode): it's good. Bloody good. Like, Super Mario 3D World/Pikmin 3 good. It always seemed destined to be a Wii U great, but what I've played is extremely promising. |

| I'm not too bothered about the addition of the coin powerup anymore, having realised that everyone's affected by it. I've seen the AI pick up coins in first place a few times, and it's great to be able to blast them with a red shell rather than see that shell hit a banana instead.
I think generally given the items aren't as helpful as they once were (and the odds of getting top-tier items have fallen) the shift to make it harder to defend yourself successfully was a necessary one, particularly the removal of being able to stock up on items whilst using defensive items or even offensive items like the Piranha Plant. |

| My two cents are as follows: it's certainly very pretty, and seems to control well. Although I'm dying to get on-line with it, I want to race on all the tracks first (I've done the Mushroom and Shell cups on 50cc!). Oh, and, whoever said Toad's Turnpike was the dullest course obviously didn't see the barriers that let you race on the walls - ah, wait, they're also irretrievably boring. Forget that last bit! |

| The design of Toad's Turnpike is great. Its the fact they've tampered with the theme that bothers me. |

Can do! More seriously, I remember it being a huge and twisting course, and having great difficulty sliding in between trucks and such. This morning's experience was nothing like that: a huge raceway meant easy overtaking and it all came to an end very quickly. An issue with this being the eighth Mario Kart game is that the finer retro tracks have already been reused in other games! |

| Toad's Turnpike seems to be one of the better tracks for Battle Mode because of all the cars and the road is wide enough to turn around fairly easily which makes me wonder if it was included just for that |

Why didn't you take the Wii U with you and play on the gamepad, if you can't use the TV. |
