| If Sega was developing Sonic and Mario and Sega and Nintendo all stars racing while Nintendo made just a good, proper Wii u Mario kart, that would be the best of both worlds.
Either way,I hope Mario kart isn't what retro are working on. I want a big awesome metroid with a traditional, atmospheric campaign tied to a decent fps control scheme with a massive online multiplayer component. |

| Did anyone have gravity-defying tracks? No? And that's why I still love Nintendo despite everything. Shame about the bikes though. (Also no bleddy hedgehog! ) |

| I was expecting to be the other way around about this and 3D Mario but that looked tame and this looks ace. Is the Moebius Strip a hint that Sonic is still on the table? |

| I wasn't too impressed, it looked too much like MK7 which is my least favourite one to date. Driving on the walls just seemed to be a visual thing more than anything, I'll likely still play it. As for bikes, they don't bother me either way. |

| People were worried this would be rushed out, I'm glad it won't be, but Nintendo really need a game like this out at Christmas time, something to shift the console. The game itself looks really lush, the backgrounds look amazing. Confirmed to be twelve drivers per race. |

| That's me done with the Mario Kart franchise, I reckon. The shark was literally jumped when they bunged those horrid underwater sections into Mario Kart 7.

| Someone spotted that bikes now build to an orange back wheel charge when cornering, that has to mean that wheelies have been left out, there's no way that can be fair. |

| I wonder if they will allow you to race on all of the MK tracks that ever existed, either by unlocking them or allowing you to download them. I did spy Melody Motorway from MK7! Obviously they had retro tracks on recent consoles, but you never got the full whack. Personally I'd want all of the Rainbow Roads, if only for the epic music. |

| I can never see one Mario Kart game featuring all the previous tracks, would harm future titles I'd think. You're right about Melody Motorway being in there, also looks like Dry Dry Desert from Double Dash is in there. |

This! Mario Kart 8 blew away my expectations. It's a really high quality production, and I still can't get over how gorgeous it looks. Visuals so detailed (and running at 60fps!) that it actually looks like it's CG rendered at times. And they still managed to make the retro tracks look recognisable. Glad to see gliders make a return, cementing them as a useful and non-gimmicky addition, and having anti-gravity racing should hopefully open up the doors for some treacherous tracks to bring back those F Zero memories. Lakitu's sure to strike gold here. Just one question for now, while I'm tired: where's Funky Kong or Nabbit? |

Mario Kart 8's logo , as well as the floating track they showed, is a Möbius strip. Sonic lives in a world called Mobius, named after the Möbius strip. I was only kidding, I'm sure its coincidence. |

| I'm wondering if driving upside-down will actually significantly change the gameplay. Also, it'll be hard to beat Mario Kart 7. |

| Why did they need to bring those bloody bikes back? It was a faux pas in MKW, since you know, it's not actually a fucking kart. Anyway, ideally they'll have a filter in place so you can decide if you race against karts only, bikes only or both. |

| Played! Gameplay wise, not much has changed since Wii/ 7. Seemed super easy but I guess that's cos it was a demo? Me and my mate were taking to the rep for a good twenty seconds before we realised the race had started but I still came in a comfortable first. Bikes can get orange flames now but don't seem to be able to wheelie, so I guess they're just karts that look different.
Looks wise though this is incredible. The textures, the lighting, the speed, the little details... best of all, the flames behind vehicles look super nice now. Like real fire. |

That's a little naff. For all the hate the bikes got, the fact that they were different from karts made them mean something as opposed to just being reskins. |
