| Saw Guardians on Thursday. It was totes amazeballs, especially with all the marvel stuff - Spoiler:
Kree! Celestials! Thanos! The Nova Corps!
- Post-credits spoiler:
Howard the mother-fucking Duck!
One weird thing; most of the lines from the trailer didn't even make it to the film. |

| On Saturday my girlfriend and I went to see The Purge: Anarchy. As a follow-up to a film with a ridiculous premise, it had a ridiculous premise. Despite this, it had a cold, hard logic that was sort of impressive. If you've got an afternoon to kill, there are worse things out at the moment.
But go see Guardians Of The Galaxy beforehand, natch. |

| My mum saw and enjoyed Guardians, but she's a great big geek. It was the talk of the transformers convention, as well.
I just watched Your Highness, which I recorded on film 4 the other night. It was nowhere near as shit as people say, just stupid. It did get a couple of chuckles from me and I enjoyed the ride, so there ya go. I'm just getting into bed and I've stuck my all time favourite film on: Terminator 2. |

| I watched chronicle for the first time last night, really good wee film that wouldn't be the same if it wasn't filmed in a documentary style. |

| Last night Jo and I saw The Inbetweeners 2. Good but not quite as funny as the first one, and not great female characters, too. |

I'd expected as much. I think a sequel was a mistake. |

| Whilst it will make a few people lots of money, the first film ends in a better place for the gang. Anyway, the creators have said that it's definitively the last time we'll be seeing new Inbetweeners material. That's fine by me. |

| I watched The Hobbit desolation of smaug last night, enjoyable film but again the CGI in some places look really ropey & it jolted me out of the world when I spotted it & that cliffhanger was a right bastard! |

| The cliffhanger was great!
But yeah, the CGI... not really impressed. Peter Jackson went the George Lucas route of stuffing his prequels with unnecessary CGI when the practical effects in the LOTR were infinitely better. I'm glad JJ Abrams is going for practical effects for Episode VIII. |

| Smaug looked phenomenal, and for me the film was worth watching for him alone, but you could see where he'd eaten into the budget. |

| Yeah, but Gollum looked amazing back in 2002 and he didn't affect how the rest of the film looked. |

| A lot of the bad stuff is in the wide camera shots of human characters (this includes orcs) mainly & even though most are really brief its bizarre to see in a film that has a massive budget.
It's similar to that moment where you can spot the stunt double & not the actor in action movies.

| The only bit I remember looking really terrible was a shot of legolas riding a horse towards the camera. It was cbbc stuff. I haven't seen the film since the cinema though, I'm waiting for the extended dvd.
Watched The Prestige again last night when it was on TV. Easily one of my favourite films of all time. |

| Watched Thor 2 last night which I thought was meant to be not very good at all but I like it. Not sure were I would place it in the marvel movies though. |

| That could be a good idea. Wright might be at a bit of a loose end, what with the Ant Man debacle...
~~~
Yesterday I saw How To Train Your Dragon 2. The first one was a nice surprise when I saw it a couple of years ago but the sequel didn't live up to it. Hopefully the HTTYD series won't become like the Ice Age films, where the first one is far and away the best. |
| I saw The Inbetweeners 2 yesterday and I'm really not sure how I feel about it. It was reasonably funny but I couldn't help but feel it was also pretty sad. Interested to see how other people found/find it. |
| I enjoyed it. It definitely felt more cinematic than its predecessor, which felt more like a bumper episode of the Inbetweeners. I can see what you mean by it being sad, but I'd class it more as bittersweet as I reckon this is the last we'll really see of the lads.
| Seconding Jay's 'bittersweet' call. Not quite as good as the first one, but mighty close. And there were some pretty dark moments, too. |
| I'm probably just over thinking it but it just felt really sad seeing them not exactly all that happy in their new lives. - Spoiler:
I think the scene where Will and Jay are arguing about Jay going after Jane and Will gets angry about how they all just got dumped anyway really got me. These aren't the happy carefree school kids that they were, they were genuinely hurt people having a crap time and trying to recapture the good old days, and failing at that.
But like I said I've probably over thought it |
| Does the second film take palce significantly after previous events? I always saw the first film as happening basically straight after the series |
