| Quite right. I, for one, would love to see another Superman film before the pre-Justice League one we're actually getting (though I will champion Ben Affleck's right to play Batman). ~~~ Saw Insurgent at the weekend. It's not bad, as such, but The Hunger Games is comfortably an order of magnitude better. Edit: I wanna take you to a typo, typo, typo... |

| DoPo, but that's to tell y'all that I saw Fast & Furious 7 last night. The silliness is taken up several notches, which is exactly what was expected. It was also surprisingly touching at the end, when they showed a tribute to Paul Walker. There is some confusion over whether Fast 8 will take place - my heart says it's time to retire the franchise, or at least get back to more conventional stunts (CGI overload). Age Of Ultron next - Jo says she'll come with me to see it, on the grounds that Thor is in it. Also, a trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road. Looks incredibly confusing, although bear in mind that I've never seen a Mad Max. |

| Yeah the tribute to Paul brought out the feels. And from what I last heard Fast 8 is happening as Vin wants 10 movies for the franchise |

I also seen Fast & Furious 7 on Tuesday and even though I enjoyed it I can only agree with what you've said here, even though it clearly is set up for a sequel the final scene would also be a fitting end to the films. - oldschool wrote:

I have to disagree the first film is still my favourite of them all, sure the set pieces/CGI etc have got really ridiculous and they have kicked the arse out of it in terms of the number of sequels (which happens a lot with most films these days) but they are still enjoyable no nonsense action films. |

| The third is my favourite one. But yeah they aren't bad movies for what they are. And they know what they are now and don't care |

| Oh that's what I forgot to say earlier that in 7 there's a weird choice of car used in the build up to/during the finale (the one Roman drives) it doesn't particularly look like anything special at all. |

| Nope, from what I can tell it looks like some sort of Cadillac (probably so wrong on that) but it doesn't look to have any modifications to it compared to what the others are driving & to me it just looked out of place.

| Leto's Joker: Needs work. Obviously they need to make him unique as to distance him from Ledger's Joker, but tattooing "DAMAGED" across his forehead is not the way to do it. Not a fan right now.
Star Wars trailer: Loved it. Han and Chewie's appearance was properly brilliant. Can't wait for December to roll around. |

| Watched a couple of older movies last night and they are a stark contrast in reviewer's scores. The first was the 1990 superhero movie, Darkman, which got 80% on Rotten Tomatoes. The other was The Day the Earth Stood still from 2008, which got 21%.
Darkman was just plain awful. It was very much a movie of the time, and like those really bad Batman movies, all style and no substance. Not only did it look bad, but that was the worst acting I have ever seen from Liam Neeson. Sam Raimi should never write scripts.
The Day the Earth Stood Still was decent, not great. It looked good and everything was okay about it, but it was a little heavy on the message and didn't have anything that stood out about it, but it was still a good watch.
Also, the other night I finally got a round to watching Avatar. I avoided this movie at the time because of the hype. Now I can honestly say the hype wasn't worth it. It is technically a good film, but as expected, the story was so generic, it weighed it down. James Cameron should join Sam Raimi and never write scripts, oh, and take George Lucas with them. It was a good watch, but far from a classic. I still haven't seen Cameron's other massive hit, Titanic, and I never plan to. |

| I really like both Avatar and Titanic. Neither is particularly clever or novel but they do what they do well enough and with enough heart that I get swept up in it. |

| I'm not terribly fond of Titanic and Avatar, myself - Mr. Cameron seems caught up in his own hype and the pair of them are very straightforward stories, in my opinion. There is nothing wrong with that, as such, but you need a bit of personality to go with them... and I can't find much of that. Though I am partial to anything with Kate Winslet in it. |

| The only part of Titanic worth watching for me would be to see Di Caprio die. I really have no time for him and fail to see why he is a star. I am really lucky that my partner is even less interested in seeing Titanic than me. I thought only woman like Titanic? It is a chick flick. I actually enjoy a good chick flick; most romantic comedies really. The idea of Titanic has only served to annoy me, and as it was, I had to turn the sound off on the credits of Avatar, just to avoid the horror that is Celine Dion, and sure as hell I don't want to hear her song in Titanic. Did anyone watch Darkman back in the 90s? |

I recommend Catch Me If You Can, Django Unchained and The Wolf of Wall Street. All three of those films have great DiCaprio performances. |

| He's great in The departed as well as earlier stuff like Basketball diaries & This boy's life.

On the Joker thing I think it's better to judge when it comes to his actual performance and not how he looks. |

| I don't doubt his acting performance will be good (Leto's a solid actor - less said about his shitey band though, the better) but costume and character design are all part of the overall performance. If Peter Dinklage was dressed in a gimp suit in Game of Thrones, I'd probably find myself distracted from his stellar performance as Tyrion. |
