Interesting thing I saw yesterday: every member of JC's shadow cabinet voted for gay marriage. So that's nice.

We should've beheaded our monarchy back when the French did theirs and Jerusalem should be the national anthem. There.

What does are Scottish members think of Jerusalem as the National Anthem instead of God Save the Queen.

You know God Save the Queen used to have a verse about crushing Scots, right?

Disclaimer: I have no particular hatred for the Queen herself. Given that she was put into a position of arbitrary elevation of status, she has done a lot of things for equality etc. etc..


I still don't think that our national anthem should be "that one person deserves all the protection, yeah that one right there". Actually my main problem with our current national anthem is that it's really dull. I'd go for Land of Hope and Glory, as that's British as opposed to English. The trouble is, a lot of the specific classical songs about Britain are either "this bit's better than that bit" or "we used to own you".

Or we can ask Wales if we can all have Land of my Fathers, 'cause that's a beautiful song.

I know it did but it's still the British anthem but agree Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau is great.

This was my thought, but I'm guessing/hoping there'll be restrictions on when and where you can use them.

I don't think I have to say anything more, since this rumour (and I should stress that it is a rumour) has been all over the Internet bar the BBC today. I should stress that I don't think this particularly reduces DC's standing as a prime minster either way - lots of his other decisions do that far better. But it is funny.

It's probably false, there are too many weird rumours about the Bullingdon Club to take any of them seriously. Other rituals they apparently have include burning a £50 note in front of a beggar. I don't really think David Cameron has the balls to do anything like that.
