So......do we think we will actually see any more new fighters? I personally think they've already got a nice selection of new characters in there.

There are four new characters so far. SSB - 12 new characters. SSBM - 13 new characters (six clones), with one (Zelda/Sheik) effectively being two new ones. SSBB - 15 new characters (three clones), with one (Pokémon Trainer) effectively being three new ones, and ZSS added too. (Young Link ≈ Toon Link.) SSB4 - 4 new characters? The fact that I personally think we're still severely lacking newbies aside (the most exciting thing about a new Smash for me is the new characters, and I don't think I'm alone in that), the numbers just don't work. I know Sakurai said there'd be less emphasis on new characters this time around, but just four additions? I can't see it happening. I imagine he'll be holding a couple of new additions back as secret characters, but even so Brawl added nine new faces to the starting rota (not including ZSS), as well as showing off Sonic and Snake prior to release. I think we've a way to go yet.

| I think they should give DeDeDe his New Orleans accent like in the nottheworstthingintheworld cartoon.
Speaking of cartoons, I saw in the Radio Times that Pac-Man's new cartoon starts in the UK this week. "Great!" - said no kid ever. |

I tried watching the first episode of Hoshi no Kaabi. It gets a big fat meh/10. Definitely aimed at the kiddies.

Think we'll have at least 10 new ones, still plenty to choose from, I'd be just as happy if they made the clones less cloney.

"Where am I……?? To be clear, the new Super Smash Bros. games do not feature a story mode like The Subspace Emissary." Is this the first shot of SSB3D's adventure/campaign/one-player mode of sorts?

I reckon it's probably a generic platforming stage, because it's not recognisably from any franchise (and I doubt that HoR is a sufficiently recognisable third-party franchise to be picked up). Looks nicer than most of the SSE, anyway. Viridi looking psychotic in the background there.

This is clever: When someone's playing as Toon Link on the Spirit Train stage, the driver becomes that pirate chap.

For one glorious moment, I thought we'd seen a good replacement for Link's boomerang. Alas, no - it's an item. An item that lifts opponents into the air, apparently.

I didn't have Skyward Sword though. Reading that, I can understand why you thought it was going to replace the boomerang - which is a horrible move in the first place.

I didn't even get the similarities between the items before reading the page (that theory seems a little "plucked out of the air" to me): it's just that we've seen all of Link's other special moves on screenshots, and assuming that this Link is based off SS', he shouldn't have a boomerang. Hence if he's going to get another special move, it should replace the boomerang - which, as you say, is rubbish anyway. I've also noticed that the platform in the background seems to have the same colour scheme as the robots' ancient world from SS. Little details that make me smile.
